Price is good. The location is right by my house. Plenty of seats. The cashier was very friendly. I had the coconut chicken and my wife had the sweet and sour. This place would have gotten a perfect review if the sweet and sour chicken had been edible (it seemed more cardboard than chicken). Although it wasn't to our liking, the portions are so large that the coconut chicken was easily split between the two of us. We were thinking that we would end up hating this place (my wife judges a place based on their sweet and sour chicken recipie), but the entree that we split plus the amazing eggroll and crab rangoon were so excellent that we couldn't help but fall in love. The little Chinese restaurant attached to a gas station was a lot more than I expected it to be. The waitress/cashier was very nice. For first time customers you walk up to the counter, get a menu, or order off the board. After you review the menu you place your order and pay for it at the counter. Then you sit and it's brought out to you. Very fast and convenient. I left a tip, not sure if that's something you do but I thought it would be nice since she brought us our food. The order total was cheap. I was at first unsure of the quality since it took only a few minutes after ordering to get our food, but everything was hot and fresh. I do recommend you get the white rice (or maybe just skip the rice) instead of the fried, the fried is dry and tasteless. It was the General tso sauce that made it edible, but I think everything taste better covered in that sauce! Overall I think for the price we paid it was really good. read more

Their chicken is all white and never has that weird chewy gummy texture that you get other places like that Chinese restaurant on Campbell and battlefield....ick. Anyway. Their fried rice isn't my fav, their lo mein lacks some serious flavor, and overall it's a little pricey if you're not going for lunch, but for consistent great Springfield cashew chicken, crab rangoon, and egg rolls, I'll gladly pay. It's connected to a gas station which I'll admit I judged it for, but now I see it was a convenience for me to run over and get a fountain drink and get gas. WINNING! ;) read more

Always happy to have Happy China! I rate a Chinese restaurant by the quality of their hot and sour soup, and Happy China's is some of the best in town. Even better, they're outrageously affordable and the kitchen is so fast your head will spin. I'll second the recommendation for the coconut chicken, though the sauce can be a little bit thick and cloying--it'd be nice if they put it on the side. Which, of course, you can ask them to do: they're almost always willing to make changes and substitutions for you, as long as it's reasonable (like replacing the meat in a dish with tofu). I'm a big, big fan; the only reason I can't give them five stars is that I have a hard time finding dishes with celery in them, so if I'm craving it I have to go elsewhere. Sadly, going elsewhere usually means I'll spend a lot more for less, so I usually try to avoid it! read more

Literally the best chinese place I've ever had. Everything came out at the same time within 10 minutes of ordering and had obviously just finished cooking, as it was fresh and too hot to eat immdiately(which is not a bad thing even if it sounds like it), the crab ragoon was basically overflowing with crab and cream cheese, my shrimp lo-mein was perfectly cooked. I love shrimp but find many places overcook shrimp where it is just chewy, but here it was perfectly made. My wife ordered the broccoli and beef, and again the beef was not chewy but excellently cooked. The broccoli was still crunchy instead of being soaked and rubbery. Everything was absolutely perfect and I won't be going elsewhere for chinese food again. read more

One of my favorite chinese spots in town. This is nearly on a weekly rotation for me. Their Crab Rangoon is to die for, never have had any as good before or since. Hot pepper chicken is a favorite of mine, as is their Sesame chicken, always with pork fried rice and crab rangoon, can't go wrong. They are super friendly, and quick and easy to order by phone. Sometimes they'll be a bit busy but we normally just call in for carry out and it's normally ready by the time we drive over there (10-15 minutes tops). Tried Happy China takeout for the first time Thursday evening. Happy China is now my favorite Chinese takeout in SGF. I chose Happy China because of the high Yelp reviews and the proximity to Cox South. I ordered from the hospital parking lot via the online ordering app. Very easy process. I ordered egg rolls, crab rangoons, moo goo gai pan, and Happy China lo mein. Wow. The egg rolls are fresh and large. The rangoons are fresh and large. The portions are large. It was all delicious. As far as I can tell from the wonderful flavor and texture, all of the vegetables used are fresh - not pre-packaged. We enjoyed our dinner so much, we want to try other items on the menu. Moo shu pork is next on my list. All that to say, Happy China, happy customer! read more

If you're in the mood for Chinese food, above and beyond cashew chicken, (not that there's anything wrong with that) this is a must eat! This is a real metropolitan Chinese restaurant featuring all of the variety one would expect in such great Chinese cities as San Francisco, Chicago, Or New York. If you are not familier with Orange Chicken (or Beef) I urge you to go for it at HAPPY CHINA. It is superb! Texture,balance of flavors, freshness, color, and taste were all first rate. The side rice was even better than most. The entree was easily enough for two people. I am looking at the menu as I write this, it's incredible. Go there, eat, enjoy. I hope the fact that is located next to the BP gas station doesn't hurt their business. On the other hand, if we all decide to picket BP, they might make a fortune (Cookie). If I could rate this place a 0 star I would. Don't let the other reviews make you try this place because we did and it was a nightmare!!! We took two bites of our cashew chicken and was so disgusted. We actually had to spit it out it tasted so bad! I called and asked if I could return the 3 uneaten orders and the owner refused. They tried to make me exchange the food for something else. They do not stand behind their product and do not care about their customers. The chicken was extremely chewy and did not taste like chicken. A waste of $15!!!! Update: forty five minutes after I called them they called me back from caller id because I did not leave my name and number. They said they would give me my money back, but they still did not understand why I did not like the food. By this point we had already thrown the food in the trash so let this be a lesson to anyone else who considers eating here. NO! I was a little put off by the fact that the restaurant building is connected to a gas station but based on Yelp reviews I decided to try the place out. The seating area was clean and the employees were friendly. I ordered the General Chicken and thought it looked very good when it was brought to the table. Looks can be deceiving as I soon discovered. The quality of the chicken was well below what I was expecting and the sauce was sickeningly sweet for my taste. I also got the Lo Mein instead of rice and that was also a disappointment. The noodles just tasted very overcooked and bland in my opinion. I DID like the Crab Rangoon though, very tasty and the reason I rated this place 2 stars instead of 1. It is highly doubtful I would ever eat here again unless I was just going to get the Crab Rangoon. read more

I lived in Springfield for a year and a half. I've now been in Kansas City for 4 years and have never come across Bourbon Chicken in a Chinese restaurant. Happy China's Bourbon Chicken is fantastic! (I may take a road trip come spring...) Springfield is rife with Chinese offerings - most with drive-thrus - not something I was used to! Tiny chicken pieces are hidden within large chunks of greasy, soggy breading, creating the illusion of large portions. Egg rolls were awful. The food was overpriced, much more expensive than area Chinese restaurants who offer superior food. The chicken is just small bits of meat in an excessive amount of breading. I couldn't hardly taste the chicken. The last (and final) time I went there I was served expired meat in my wonton soup. I think the lady tried to keep the man from serving it because I heard the word "wonton" a few times in, what seemed to me to be, an argument they were having. Come to think of it, she even made the man who prepared it serve it to me even though she has always served me my food before.
