Cozy chinese restaurant with a relaxed vibe. Each table has a small box of table games to play with your fellow table mates. Games vary from talking games, to Sushi Go, to Tic Tac Toe. They play 80s or 90s music. The outside eating area also has a water dish for dogs and corn hole. The food itself was pretty decent. I got the orange chicken with noodles. It was very tasty though i wouldn't say it was the best I've ever tried. But it hit the spot. Service was quick and friendly. Met my girlfriends here for our monthly night out. To say this place is busy - is an understatement! There is a constant flow of to go orders! After trying their food - I can see why!! I had the snow pea stir fry with beef and wow was it good! Perfectly balanced sauce. Not too sweet and not drenched all over the meat and veggies. Out for a motorcycle ride, and stopped in. We have been wanting to try this place for some time. The issue with Springfield though is there is a Chinese restaurant every block, and they are all hit or miss. What attracted us to this place was the outdoor patio seating. You would think more places have outdoor seating in Springfield, but they don't. Walking in the place seemed dimly lit, and a little small. You place your order at the front; pay then they bring your order to your table. Our waitress was nice, and had good recommendations. My wife got garlic tofu, and I went with the general chicken. We decided to take advantage of the beautiful day, and sit outside. Our food arrived pretty quickly, and it was presented fabulously. It seriously looked like a picture! Everything was fresh, and you could tell; not just by seeing it, but also taste! It was seriously some of the best "American" Chinese food I have ever had! Been coming to The Wok (formerly China Wok) for close to 15yrs now. Although the name, ambiance and prices have changed, the food has continued to be the best in town. You have to get General Chicken and the Beef Lo Mien. You will not find better bang for your buck in Springfield. The only thing I will note is the newly renovated decorating is very...odd? They have replaced their more traditional decor for a country farmhouse aesthetic which is just very strange. There's also a patio now with jenga? Thankfully I just come for the food, but it's a strange direction. read more

OK, this is my go to standard order on Grubhub and the weird thing is I originally ordered from this place to get kimchi stew then I discovered they have kimchi rice fried rice fried rice I'm sorry that just amazes me that I like fried rice when it's done right I was just consider that a crappy side dish to my main dish I get kimchi fried rice there's 12 questions it seems like what do you want to add to this so I add pork I get it St. Louis style. I don't even know what that means. I get it with extra green onions extra white onions. I would get it with an egg but eggs have gone up from $1.50 to 4 dollars I get it well done I like the crispy bits. I don't know who the chef was today but he did an excellent job. I'm trying to decide what other kind of protein I would add instead of getting the egg now, but I ate the entire regular size order which is very large. I'm saving the kimchi stew for tomorrow when it's cold and snowy out so nobody has to deliver to me. I'm so upset. They're opening a new location further away from me. I like how the place looks a lot better than it did many years ago, it used to look like a Chinese food place you'd find in an alley way. Their chicken is high quality, they have the best crab Rangoon are the best in town, everything has always been fresh. I've never had a meal here I haven't enjoyed. Since the start of the pandemic we have made it a goal to support local businesses that we enjoy at least once a week that are close by to us because we want to see these places open after things return to normal. China wok has been a regular on that rotation, I'd estimate about once every week. I've easily spent hundreds of dollars with them since March and up until today have had nothing but positive experiences; food is labeled, their curbside system is efficient, and their food is fantastic. Today my coworkers and I placed an order for delivery. We ordered 6 entrees and a couple sides. Delivery was through Grubhub. When the food arrived, we noticed that one of the entrees was missing. We immediately called China Wok and were told that since our order was under $70 (our grubhub total was 85 but they got $63) that we would have to contact grubhub to have a new delivery driver come out. After an hour and a half on the phone with grubhub, we ended up having to spend an additional $8.50 to get the entree delivered, which originally cost 7.50. I called China Wok afterward to express our frustration at the situation and the difficulty in attempting to get the order fixed. The person on the phone apologized and went on to admit that their kitchen had forgotten to make the entree. It was extremely frustrating to find out that the issue was entirely on their end, yet we had to jump through hoops because we didn't order directly through them, even though it was their choice to use grubhub as their delivery service although they have previously delivered independently. I gave them multiple opportunities to make this right. A discount for the extra money we had to pay, or something more than a hollow apology would have kept 6 happy customers as return customers. Instead, we were shown how much they value their customers. I'm honestly sad because I love their food, their ordering is convenient, and it is close to my house. After this experience I can't give them more business as it stands. I offered multiple opportunities to make this right and we were offered nothing more than a "that sucks" for the money out of our pocket and time lost due to their error that they admitted. A business that cared about their customers and reputation would likely want to retain their return customers, but I guess that shows the character of the people working here. read more

I had the general chicken all white and my husband had the sesame chicken all white. Both meals were made to order and fresh. The sauce was thick and clung to the chicken well. The rice was good but nothing much different. The crab Rangoon was not like your normal Rangoon. They are more bunched up and like little pockets of cream cheese. They are definitely on the sweeter side. Easy to pop one into your mouth to enjoy. The egg rolls were the best I've ever had! Get the egg rolls if you get anything at all here. They are a good size and the filling is fresh and fried to golden perfection. Overall we will be back to try more! read more

I have been going here since 2011 and it was my favorite Chinese food place to eat in Springfield. So different than KC. I usually go toward the Kung Pao offerings. It was always reasonable cost wise and it was delicious. Now it is neither. The dine-in atmosphere is nicer but it was fine before. I had the regular Kung Pao combination meat with an order of fried pot stickers and a drink -- $27 includes small tip. For that price, it better be really good. Not so - the rice was underdone. Also, there were only 2 small shrimp in the order. I'm currently eating the leftovers - I don't know why. The under done rice stays in your mouth like sand. I need to find a new place. I have also been trying to get them to add twice sauteed pork for the last 12 years. It is a common menu item in KC. read more

Ever since 2020 when restaurants were shut down from indoor dining this place has been pickup only, they have been through a couple changes allowing you to enter the building and then not, forcing you to call in an order or order online for delivery or curbside pickup. I like simple american Chinese and china wok is just that. My favorite dish here is the sesame chicken. The chicken is fried quite well and stays crispy for a long time. That said be prepare to wait for your order or call ahead. Without being in the kitchen I get the impression that the chicken is fried to order which accounts for the wait time. I'm ok with this. The impatient gotta have it now folks may be turned of by this. I like their version of hot and sour soup. With crunchy noodles of course. Overall portions of the soup, and main dish are ample. Most times I can get 2 meals out of a regular order. So value for dollar is high. The dining area is just some tables in a waiting area so I feel like this is a take out spot. I don't usually have duck sauce on hand and because we just moved and we're unpacking, we had to search through boxes for something to eat with.
