I brought in three items for tailoring, and one for a last ditch stain-removal attempt. The tailoring all came out perfectly (she even had me put on one the dresses right in the shop to make sure she would take it in exactly as desired). As for the stain, as expected it remained (I waited three months, so...), BUT they had the fabulous idea to put in a pleat, thus covering it up, and saving the dress anyway! Brilliant!! read more

I have been in Brooklyn for a couple years and New York longer. This has been the best experience with a dry cleaner I have had. I haven't chosen nor been tempted to use another business for my dry cleaning needs. The manager, Amy, knows every person who comes in the establishment by name, says hello on the street and waves from the store if you don't need to stop by that day. She is absolutely the reason I continue to return. She knows my partner and says hello to her, by name, even though she very rarely accompanies me to the location. not so happy. I saw all the positive reviews on here and gave them a try. The first couple of times we used them the laundry came back OK but noticed communication issues right away. The communication issues were about pickup & drop off times and turn around for the laundering. My assumption was that it was coming from over promising by the nice desk clerk, conflicting with the process-so we kept using them. We have used them consistently for 4-5 months and are stopping now. Their prices are decent but the added cost of lost items and providing soap, surely reverses any savings, if not makes them more expensive than others. We noticed our clothes began not to smell washed, when we inquired they then explained we should provide detergent. Maybe I have it confused, is that not what they are in service to do? Wash clothes with soap? I know every place looses items but the count on underwear and socks started to become costly. My decision was solidified when I called to confirm my laundry drop off, they did not know where my laundry was. Then the story changed to that several of the shirts I had asked for them to be air dried, were being dry cleaned and the others premium laundered with starch. I immediately told them that it was NOT what I requested and that I had asthma and could not tolerate dry cleaning chemicals. She said the process could not be stopped. Then the story switched back to, i don't know where your laundry is...and I will need to call you back-which never happened. I called 4 hours later and they had found my laundry and it would be delivered back later that day. When my laundry arrived, it was obvious that some of the shirts were dry cleaned and the rest premium laundered beyond my normal wash, the receipt showed I was charged for those services. I called them to let them know the error and the conversation became more convoluted. I finally ask for a partial refund for the services which were not requested - she agreed and said to expect the refund to be delivered the next morning. Surprise! nothing came. I phoned to check in and she said it would be there in the early evening, again I waited, no one came. I phoned again and she apologized and said it would be delivered the following morning. Next morning, again nothing came. Phoned again, new promise of evening delivery. Before evening came, she called to say that her manager would now be calling me to process the refund. Another day and a half of waiting for a call, so I called back and spoke with the manager. He was defensive immediately and told me since the items received premium service, I would be charged for them, even if i did not ask for the service. I explained again that this is incorrect but he didn't seem to care. Nor do I any longer. Too many other laundry services out there. read more

my boyfriend swears amy is a witch. he thinks this is the only logical explanation for her uncanny memory. we don't even go in there that often-- him more than me, probably, but she always remembers not only my name but my account number and once my boyfriend swears that before he even got up to the counter, she was already moving the racks to get his shirts -- she didn't even have to look up where they were, she just knew! spooooky. i will keep going back as long as amy is superfriendly and waves at me when i see her on the street. oh and for all you vertically-challenged folkses out there like me, i've been really happy with their tailoring services -- i get almost all my pants shortened-- runs about $10. read more

This is the best cleaners I've ever been to! Let's face it - the cleaning job is usually the same between all cleaners, so it's down to 1) how often they lose/stain/break a garment and 2) anything special about customer service. At this location of Happy Cleaners (I've never been to any others) the #1 thing you'll notice within a visit or two is the customer service of the manager. She is SO friendly, and smiley, but the thing everyone notices is her amazing memory of names. She learned my name by my second visit and never forgot. Every time I drop by and another customer is there I notice she knows their names as well. She must have memorized 1000 names in this neighborhood! Every time people walk by the store front you can see them waving at her inside. It's virtually unheard of to have such a neighborly experience in the city! As for any problems my wife and I have encountered, there have been a couple missing dress shirt buttons but she always replaces and sews them at no cost. Other than that, I can say all my clothes have ALWAYS been professionally cleaned within a few business days so I don't believe the other reviews claiming they got "dirty" or "smelly" "unwashed" clothes back. Those are trolls or nearby competing businesses (most of them look like fake accounts). That said, we live on Warren so always drop off and pick up the shirts ourselves (I actually didn't even know they pick up and deliver). This is some sort of chain or franchise (I've seen several all over the city), so perhaps pick up/delivery is done through the main branch where the managers and employees aren't as caring. If anyone says they received anything but SUPER friendly, kind service from the manager at this location, they are either talking about another shop/location, or they are fake users created by local competing businesses. Lastly, we are moving out of the area in May, and I honestly told my wife the ONLY thing I would miss about this neighborhood is this cleaners (or more specifically, the manager). Not that the nabe doesn't have great restos, bars, and the super awesome 3rd and 3rd, but we're moving to another nabe with more great restos/bars and a Whole Foods, so this is the only thing that will truly be missing. =( I'll be really sad to be getting my shirts done at a place that doesn't care like this one. Do NOT take your dry cleaning here. They will ruin clothing. Astoundingly, they hang women's clothing by piercing the fabric with safety pins -- not even at the seams or at other inconspicuous places. Interview suit with holes in it = worthless. What's more, the owner then refused to return my calls to discuss compensating me for the damage to my girlfriend's interview suit. He didn't even both apologizing -- just ignored me. Needless to say, he will not get my business. AVOID at all costs. Nice people, but negligent dry-cleaning practices. You'd be better off ironing your suit yourself. read more

Linda runs the Happy Cleaners near me, on Washington Ave. Been going for years. Super friendly! She's always cracking jokes. Service is quick. Comes back neatly folded, fresh, smelling good. If stains don't come out of dry cleaning items they run it again free of charge. Have experienced relatively few negative issues over the years that I've been a regular. Will occasionally find someone else's sock or something in our laundry, so I assume we've lost some a thing or two along the way too. Prices are pretty comparable to other drop-off options in the area I've looked at (just wish they stayed at what they were a couple of years ago, rather than going up). They also instituted a minimum price threshold of 8 lbs per drop-off bag, which means I now wait till I accumulate 8 lbs of whites until bringing over, but not a big deal. read more

"Happy" Cleaners is definitely right! The woman at the front desk (didn't catch her name) is always smiling. I recently got a dress altered and dry cleaned here. I needed an awful ruffle trim removed from an otherwise beautiful dress and was nervous about going somewhere I had never been before. That said, based on prior yelp reviews I decided to give it a try, and was so happy with the results. I would definitely recommend this place to other friends in the area! I would have given 5 stars except for one minor thing - they told me it would be ready on a Saturday, and when I dropped in it wasn't ready until Monday. Pretty good job but really slow. Laundry took 2 days and was delivered 2 hours after the arranged time. It was also expensive! 0.90 a lb didn't seem like that much but with one big bag the total was $50. I recommend you weigh before you send if possible? They come pick up a bag of dirty clothes, call you and drop off a bag of clean clothes. It's really not that complicated, but when done right feels like Christmas. These guys do it right - Everything marked "do not dry" was hanging on metal hangers and wrapped in plastic. Everything was nicely folded and smelled fresh and clean. Happy cleaners name says it all! They were easy to deal with picked up right away. They even gave me two more laundry bags because my bag broke! I dry-cleaned my down comforter and they cleaned my duvet. After they put the down in the duvet for me so I did not need to do it when I received it back. It was done and cleaned for me to put right on my bed! They listened and did everything the way I wanted. They pick up and deliver which is helpful when you have heavy laundry todo. read more

Horrible, horrible. They STAPLED directly only my HERMES silk scarf and my Louis Vuitton silk bandeau TWICE on each. Effectively ruining them both. ($165/$155 cost respectively), that's not all. They FLATTEN THE HEMS, that were hand rolled. Both are ruined. Completely and utterly. That said my husband's Costco shirt came out fine. But going to these people cost me $320. And yes both were limited editions and will cost more than that to replace. If they didn't have the skills to clean these items without stapling them and, flattening the hems, and draining the color from the silk. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. read more

I really wish I could give these guys a better review. The people here are probably the nicest I've ever encountered at a cleaners; friendly, curteous, and professional. However, they need to change the way they care for clothes. I bought in a pair of brand new jeans to be hemmed and well as a shirt to be laundered. They laundered the shirt fine, but then they ironed it haphazardly, leaving terribly creases all over the collar. This sort of thing is next to impossible to get out myself and could have been avoided if they had taken a little more care in ironing. But what really bothered me was the jeans. They did a fine job hemming them, but then they decided to starch and press them at well, which seriously screwed them up. These jeans are raw denim, and the ironing process left terrible creases down the sides which started to fade into permanent lines. I brought it back and asked them to fix it, but the damage was already done. So, Happy Cleaners, I would gladly give you 5 stars if you did the following. 1.) Take better care when ironing--or get a steamer 2.) Don't starch/press brand new clothes that just need to be tailored. read more

I have given them several chances now I will not ever use them again. They picked up my dry-cleaning and washed all my dresses and ruined over $2000 worth of silk dresses. They are giving me the run around after I have been a loyal customer for the past two years and this isn't the first mess up. I would be very careful using them. They won't take responsibility for their mistakes. I even had a sign in side my bag that said Dry cleaning and they hot water washed all of the dresses and charged me. read more

I have only used Happy Cleaners for laundry services because I have little need for dry cleaning. I never had the chance or opportunity to try their cleaning service, because twice I have attempted to schedule a pick up and drop off online, and twice they have not arrived as scheduled. Both times I called to see what the hold up was, they told me they received my scheduled appointment late (1st time) and they never received my appointment (2nd time). Meanwhile I had a confirmation email for both! If you can't rely on your online booking system please take it down! There was no apology and no sense of urgency to fix it. Pickup/delivery and great customer service - a bit pricey but not too terrible for NYC

This place is amazing! EXTREMELY affordable relative to the dry cleaners that used to be around me in Manhattan. Most importantly, they're great with stains! I had some really intense mud stains on a shirt and some nice dress pants after a rainy horse race and they didn't come out after the first round of dry cleaning. The manager redid it for free, promising to use heavier chemicals, and they came out pristine! Speaking of the manager, the other reviews are not joking when they highlight how sweet and genuinely happy she is to help. read more

First time using a pick up/drop off cleaners and will be looking for a different one now. I gave specific instructions for items in a specific bag to be hung dry. Even called to make sure this was an option and was told that it was. Suffice it to say that these items definitely ended up in the dryer. Part 2: They were VERY late in returning the items. They were supposed to be received by 10am this morning. When they weren't here by 11am, my husband called and was told that someone had called and told them to deliver it on Friday. What???? It sounds to me that they didn't do the laundry and now were scrambling to get it done so we could get it by 5pm which is probably why my items ended up in the dryer. By the second or third time I came in, Amy knew my name and knew where my clothes were (without having to look it up on her computer).
