I thought this would make up for the message and then I was about to close my eyes, when I saw a brown bug run quickly. It is 1pm and a roach is in the sauna with me. My mom and I have come here a couple of times before we have seen how BAD it's gotten. Today we set an appointment for 1:30pm and we called twice to give them a heads up that we were going to be 30 minutes late and to make it for 2pm. When we got there, we were met with terrible energy. A lady from reception came into the dressing room in the middle of us changing to tell us to COME OUT rushing us. Came for a feet massage and the person who treated me did a nice job. However, there were too many loud conversations going on everywhere. The place had a dark, open concept. Dark to make you relax but the open concept without any music made it too easy to hear everyone. You can hear people discussing prices and massage options with their clients (Why wasn't it done at the front?), random employee conversations, personal phones ringing, etc. Not relaxing whatsoever! Before your massage, they provide you with a locker number and key which also had a pair of pj's and flip flops to change into. Since I only opted for the feet massage, I asked if I had to change and was told no. So I guess it all depends on how comfortable you are with changing. As we opened the door and entered, I was almost knocked over by the stench of mold and dampness. The man at the reception was not a bit bothered by it and acted like it didn't even exist! Don't know why I didn't turn around and ‍ for my life. But in I went. As soon as we got to the back, it seemed the smell magically vanished. They have lockers, a steam room and privacy where you can change. We changed into our robes and got ready for our $30 foot massage. It was a wonderful wonderful almost hour long massage. Very bad experience. When I arrived, everything started well. The person who did my massage was extremely heavy-handed. There was a lot of pain and bruises left. The person did not speak and did not apologize when I mentioned the pain. I had a family member who came with me and she still has bruises from her massage. It has been 2 weeks. Before leaving the massage, one of the men stopped and told us how much they love black people. I thought that was weird, but I guess it was coming from a good place. The lady at front desk is probably owner or manager, as she has no customer service skills whatsoever- never a greeting or smile but always a grimace in her face. When we were checking out after our massages, we paid and tipped separately, based on our experience. One of my friends tipped a $5 and the woman (in her late 30s to early 40s) at front desk told my friend to tip at least $9. That is UNACCEPTABLE- tipping is based on SERVICE. We already paid full price for the massages, and owner does not decide what customer tips. We will never return or recommend anyone to this Happy Feet. You just lost a large group of frequent customers. Additionally, the entire facility was hot and humid today. Ladies locker room literally stinks! This Happy Feet Massage is in the plaza with Lee's Sandwiches on Bellaire. It's our go-to place for cheap feet and body massages. If you buy a punch card (good for 4 visits), it's $20 per feet massage and $40 for full body. With no card, it's $25 for feet and $45 for body. Once you check in, front desk will give you a key. With the key number, you go in the locker room and have access to a locker that has a set of ugly lounge shorts/robe and some flip flops. After changing out of your own clothes and into the short set, you walk out of the locker room into a wait area near the big fish tank. When they see you waiting, they'll come get you and lead to your massage chair or table. The experience and effects depend on the person doing the massage and their skills. Some are better than others, so if you like someone, ask for their name and request them next time. I like an older Chinese gentleman named David- he gives a good body massage with just the right pressure- not painful but not too soft. Their English may also be limited, so that can be a barrier for some. Probably the best part about this place is that steam room and sauna are included in the massages. After the massage, we drink some water and go sit in the steam room for a bit to sweat out toxins. Lastly, we wrap up in locker room with a quick shower (ladies locker room has two toilet stalls and two shower stalls). After shower and changing back into your own clothes, take the locker key with you back to the front desk, where you'll check ot and pay Don't forget to tip! I usually try to find my person and tip them before heading out to front desk to pay. Or, if you're paying by credit card, you can also tip at front desk when checking out. I just think handing cash to the person is more courteous as a sign of gratitude. read more

I'd come back again... the atmosphere was relaxing , locker area was small but well kept, the uniform is provided (a super light wrap top and short kimono pants) and the prices were super reasonable. Four is of us opted for the 60 min body massage and 30 min foot massage for $58, which includes dry and wet sauna. I really enjoyed it. Sam was a great massage therapist and he had a firm technique that really worked out the tight knots without making me flinch. Body massage was face down, uniform removed (big towel covered me) and massage was detailed and ended with warm towel wipe down. Then foot massage was in another room, wearing uniform and covered with a light blanket, face up, started with foot soaking while head, arms then legs and feet are massaged. I've been several times and I enjoyed each time. However, during my visit yesterday..It was absolutely horrible. I got a combo massage which included 30 minutes body and 30 minutes feet. During my entire hour of getting a massage, the two ladies that were giving massages loudly talked the entire time. This is supposed to be a relaxing experience, but I don't think they got the memo. On top of that, while my eyes were closed, one of the worker's heavily congested kid was watching over me as I laid down. The kid poked me, laughed, and ran off. I had to ask for a woman again. Strike 2: The actual massage itself was bad. If you just want someone to lightly squeeze your body with no effort, this is the place for you. My masseuse also spent about 3 minutes just scratching my head. No technique combine with no desire to massage you? Yeah, it was bad. Strike 3: $25 for a foot massage where they actually massage your whole body is a really good deal. But when we went to pay, the front desk man asked us how much we wanted to tip. Based off the fact that my fiancé and I both had awful massages, we said no tip. The man then said "You have to give at least a 20% tip. These people work hard for you for an hour." This place has changed a lot. No wonder why it was practically empty on a Saturday night. There are so many things wrong with this place, it's hard to know where to begin so I'll just list it out: 1. The foot massage was absolutely worthless. There was barely any pressure applied, everything was inconsistent, and his attitude was extremely careless. I felt like they hired a random guy from the streets to do the massage. It was so bad. He kept having these nasty coughs, his cell phone would buzz next to my head, and his keys one time pushed against my head. I also requested "no head massage" and what did he do? He tried to massage my head. He even insisted I get one. When I said no, he didn't seem pleased. When it came time for the foot, he used his nails to apply pressure. Freaking gross. At many times, he would just plop my leg or arm somewhere like it was a wet umbrella. This was absolutely the worse massage of my life. 2. After the massage, I did not want to tip and the cashier gave us grief for not tipping. He said tipping is mandatory. What the crap!!! Tipping isn't mandatory. This is America. You get what you deserve. If you suck, you get nothing. It was obvious that my guy did not want to be there. The worse part is that the massage person waits next to the cashier as you tip. After we paid, you can hear the massage people say "ok let's get out of here" in front of us. 3. This place is extremely shady. It used to be ok. I've noticed that there are usually men standing outside the door just hanging, smoking, and playing on their phone. I bet they are hired for their security or something (not your security), and it looks extremely shady. The parking lot is dark and I was worried someone would break into my car. I'm not accustom to having a two part massage where I go into one room for a full body unclothed and then get dressed and have my feet, arms and legs massaged in a chair. It could have been what I chose on the menu, but there was no direction. The experience is nice: locker room, showers, massage clothes. But just know the quality of massage will be hit or miss unless you find a good masseuse and continue to ask for that person. Use to be better. It's a hit or miss with certain workers. I decided the last couple times I did a walk in with no appointments and it went ok so let's do it again. Next time I'll have to book an appointment with specific people usually the Asian (Vietnamese & Chinese) males have better techniques and if you tell them to not do the pounding/ slapping at the end they will not do that. They also don't wrangle your neck and go with deep pressure on your anterior neck area. I told the girl today to use less pressure on mt face and neck but she didn't understand. She left for a while to get someone else over. She also didn't understand, so I pulled up my Spanish Google Translate. They nodded and I thought she understood. Went back and kept tugging on my face and sensitive eye area with extreme pressure. I'm totally gonna get wrinkly now lol. Definitely not a relaxing facial massage, not to mention the amount of lotion she slathered on my face. It's some scented and warming lotion that burned my face abs eyes. I tried to wipe it off after but I'll be doing a second shower today along with a double cleanse for face. Body work not great either. That's where I need the pressure and it's basically putting lotion on me and awkward flow/technique not there. Got a a package from before so I'll still have to come back to use them up. Once it's used up it'll be back to the on-demand/in home massages from Zeel or Soothe. I haven't had a bad experience with therapist coming to my house and it's usually random therapists. I normally pick Females for home massages. I give everyone a chance. Any gender is when I want a massage to be delivered to my work space. A friend and I went in for combo massages & this is probably the worst massages either one of us ever experienced. Both of our massage therapists were rough...not deep tissue massage rough; more like they lacked the gracefulness we're used to. Literally some parts of the massage HURT, despite me asking for medium to light pressure. They both massaged like they were in a rush as well... the pace was super fast (imagine applying lotion very quickly after a shower because ur running late for work... yea their hands moved that fast - not relaxing at all, just uncomfortable & kind of annoying. The whole time my friend & I kept thinking "WTF????" Our two massage therapists also spoke to each other quite frequently & one of them even took a phone call (hands free Bluetooth) during the dang massage ... like literally having conversation while massaging ... & as if that wasn't enough noise... there was also a young child running around the place, talking, laughing etc (as kids do) but come on, if you're gunna bring ur child to ur job at a MASSAGE PARLOR at the very least don't have her running around where customers can hear it!! Then there's the warm damp rag they wipe you down with .... how does being wiped down with a warm rag become unenjoyable you ask?? Ohh, you simply keep the same rag to wipe down the entire body & half way thru said wipe down this turns into a COLD rag wipe down. WTF??? & if that wasn't uncomfortable enough they left us uncovered after the wipe down .... HELLOOOOOO we're freaking cold !!!! & last but not least ... despite massages that SUCKED they "require" 20% tip minimum .... you're kidding right ?? Definitely not worth a dime, let alone 20% gratuity. The guy literally asked how much I want to tip, I told him 15% & he says they require 20% minimum.... sir, WHY DID YOU ASK HOW MUCH I WANT TO TIP THEN?? & to make matters worse, the woman who did my massage was standing there the whole time so I couldn't even report the POS massages. After he got directed to a room immediately, and I waited about 10 minutes (no biggie). I don't remember the lady's name who did my massage. But she was very friendly, we conversed very very shortly. She checked in with me a few times, asking about comfort/pressure level. I felt she was tentative. At the end i got 1 hr full massage plus $10 tip, came out to about $61 total. Not gonna lie I love Happy Feet. I had been going here for years and stopped because I moved to a different area. I have always enjoyed the spa like experience and being given a robe and key before a massage. Even more so enjoy the sauna that I can relax in afterwards. I received a massage that was not enjoyable at all. I asked for a deep tissue and was lightly rubbed the entire time. I asked to go deeper and work certain areas but it was a fail. Secondly I am a woman... I had 2 different men enter the room while getting a massage!! Not comfortable at all!! One even came and asked if I someone else!! Another thing is 10 min into my massage the music went off. I heard EVERY CONVERSATION that was happening in the building. I heard kids, workers, and even phone conversations. The rooms are NOT private rooms. So NO you do not get privacy. I'm still here writing this as we speak because I am upset. Last but not least the sauna is not working. This was what I came for. Ask for DON! his massages are Very Good! The other people are hit and miss. I come every two weeks or so and I always have a EXCELLENT massage (his pressure is great, and he even massages your face and scalp). They also have free sauna, steam room and bottled water. CONS: The place can be very cold inside sometimes (I just ask for a heating pad- and they always accommodate). Also, check your receipts AFTER they post to your card. I have been overcharged by a few dollars on more than one occasion but I let it slide because they are really VERY cheap (a two hour massage is only $80). But they charge $1 to use a credit card.
