Our masseuses, Jessica and Alicia, were firm but gentle, making sure that every part of our bodies were treated with care. Our experience ended with some delicious Moroccan tea and baklava treats. TLDR: Yes, yes. A thousand times, yes. In advance of our trip to Houston, I started watching food reviewers to get ideas of where to eat. That shifted my IG algorithm to include things to do...and I've never been happier. I saw a video depicting their Hammam treatment where you hang out in steam, they soap you up, and then exfoliate you. Never done it, asked the wife, and I booked it. Glad we did, phenomenal experience. Detailed step by step of our experience to help the uninitiated know what to expect. 1. Online booking. Simple, fast, requires 20% deposit. 10/10. 2. Confirmation text to check if I needed to reschedule. 10/10. 3. We arrived 10 minutes early. Front door was locked but the desk attendant let us in quickly and relocked the door. Considering the level of undress we were about to be in, 100% on board with that. 10/10. 4. Check in and sit in these awesome high-back padded chairs while we wait. 10/10. 5. Quickly greeted by the staff who will be providing our treatment and led to a small changing room. There they instruct us to strip down and put on disposable underwear, a nice robe, and slide on sandals. I'm a big guy, so they switched out the 3 items for bigger versions. I was happily surprised they had a 4XL robe and sandals to fit my size 16 feet. The paper underwear was made of the same material as a dentist bib/disposable surgical gown, and covered what boxers would cover-down to mid/lower thigh. Wife's paper undies were more like a string bikini bottom. We were not quite sure what to expect, but it provided for an appropriate level of modesty. The room contained multiple lockers with keys so that we were able to secure our belongings. 10/10. 6. We were then led to a steamy room, removed our robes, and carefully helped up onto the padded platforms. Once seated we were rinsed with warm water and soaped up. Then they got us bottled water (cold or room temperature, our choice) and left us to steam in the the 103°F room. Sweat, sweat, sweat. They checked in a couple of times to make sure we were okay, which I appreciated. That steam was no joke. 10/10. 7. After maybe 10-15 minutes, we moved into another room that looked identical, rubber mats on elevated platforms. But this time we laid down and the treatments started. Warm water poured over body, light scrubbing of face, and some treatment painted on my face. Then it was really same thing over and over with different parts of the body. Pour water, scrub with the mits, and exfoliate years of dead skin. Years. 10/10. 8. The women who provided our treatments were great, social in response to our talking but not trying to talk the whole time. Gotta love that with any kind of spa treatment, let the client decide the talking level. At some point, she rinsed off the face treatment and scrubbed my face a little more. 10/10. 9. So they keep doing their thing, having us move arms, tilt neck, roll on side, etc., so that they can get to all of our parts. We'll, most. Going back to the distinct differences in our disposable underwear, wife got way more of her upper legs/buttocks scrubbed. My scrubbing stopped just above the knee and resumed above the waste. And honestly, I get why-guys can be/are creeps. It did leave, however, a large area of me unexfoliated. 9/10. 10. After that, had us sit up, more water pouring to rinse off the dead skin and touching up spots that needed a little more scrubbing. Once rinsed and cleaned, got a scalp treatment/shampooing. Nice touch. 10/10. 11. They helped us put our robes back on and we were led to our changing room were they did a rose water spritz and argon oil serum face treatment. We were then left alone to get dressed. 10/10. 12. Ended the experience in the Tea Room where we enjoyed wonderful hot Moroccan tea and some baklava. What a wonderful treat! The most luxurious, refreshing experience his hidden away in the most unassuming strip center! I wanted to surprise my wife with a unique spa experience before our wedding and Hammam spa was definitely the right choice. From booking to communications after, the whole process was so easy. When we arrived, we were provided a space to securely leave our clothes and belongings, given comfy robes (which were more than large enough to accommodate us), and taken to our therapy room. The full body scrub and mud mask we received left us feeling cleaner than ever before. The therapists very excitedly showed us how much dead skin was coming off our bodies. While my wife's therapist was a trainee who wasn't as vigorous with her scrubbing as mine was, both were still very thorough and attentive to every inch of our skin. When they say your skin will glow after, they don't lie! Our skin looked and felt great after about a 90 minute session. The delicious baklava and tea after the session was a nice way to enjoy a moment more of calm together before we left. I decided to try this place out due to the rating, but it wasn't that great. It's on Westheimer, so if you miss it.. you have to u-turn. There are about 6 parking spots. Lasted for about 10 minutes, it's from the yelp check in but can inform you are a first time customer. Hammam Body Exfoliation (1 hour): 3/5 Hammam is the body exfoliation and body scrub with the use of black soap from Morocco. Body lotion with Argan oil. You are basically wearing a disposable thong bathing suit. You go into a mini sauna for about 10-15 minutes, enjoying a nice cup of tea. This was delicious. After, you get onto the scrubbing station. Someone (or in my case - 2 people) will scrub your dirt right off. Literally felt like a kid getting a body scrub. It's different, but I wouldn't do this again. Massage (30 minutes): 1/5 The massage room is outdated and not comforting at all. It's also next to the "lounge area". In the beginning of the massage, I informed my masseuse to tell Latifa about the loud chatter... that appeared out of no where. All she replied was, "sorry just close the door." First of all, the door is already closed. Who opens doors during a massage? Second, how am I going to rejuvenate and relax? Did I get any stress relief in my deep tissue massage? No. Privacy and customer service are poor. I had 3 different people barge into my room without knocking sometimes (probably 3-4 times). Which room? The room where I'm more than half naked, during the exfoliation process. Would I come back? Not at all. If you want to be scrubbed head to toe with the hammam experience, then sure because it is their only specialty (added a star for this). I would recommend this to the older age group. There are lockers for your personal items. You begin with "black soap" and the steam room, then progress to the scrub, washing and end with hair washing. The scub could not have been any better, literally. My skin was SO soft after. It totally rivals the best Korean scrub I've ever had without hours of travel time. This will be annual for summer ready skin for me from now on! The massage was good... as was the facial. A couple of things I would have preferred would have been to be told what was going on my face & why as it was being done. But when I did ask, it was explained. Also the face rest on my massage table where my forehead rested needs to be replaced-it felt like metal on my forehead (the rest was soft). Sure enough, when I left I noticed a red mark (scratch) on my forehead in my mirror. My friend didn't have the same experience as I; her staff member did tell her each step of the way what was being used/done and why. So...it could've been an off day for my person. It gives me the opportunity to relax too. I checked out Hammam Spa for the first time on a Friday after work. They're located right off of Westheimer next to a BBQ restaurant. It looks pretty nondescript from the outside but it's nice on the inside. I went with a 60-minute Swedish massage. My massage therapist started off with a more intensive massage before realizing about 10 minutes in that I had requested a Swedish. The room was clean and she did a good job after the initial hiccup. One thing I didn't like? They include the tip upfront when you pay before your massage which is unusual. Since this is a service, I like to tip based on the service I receive. This is standard operating procedure at spas. The massage was also a bit more expensive than similar competitors. With tax and tip, I paid $109. Added bonus: This is a Moroccan spa so they offer some Moroccan services you likely won't find anywhere else. read more

I inquired about what they offered an appointment very late on a Saturday night and they responded via the Yelp messaging I friend and I did the couples package that had the body scrub and the massage. If your modest I would take a swimsuit for the scrub part. However we are not so it didn't bother us. You start out basically getting wash down by one of the ladies there and they put a exfoliating soap on you. After that you sit in a nice steam sauna for about 20 minutes. Next you rents off and they proceed to use a mitt and do the scrub. Describe is not a sugar scrub or a salt scrub it's actually done with the special mitt. I did not feel that the scribe was too rough or harsh and you could actually see your skin that came off. My skin was so soft afterwards. I loved it!! Next you go into another room and have a massage. This massage was pretty good I really enjoyed it. It was relaxing. My attendant Sally was super sweet and she explained everything she was going to do. All the staff there was very pleasant, helpful, and inviting. We will definitely go back! They also sell some products there which I did purchase a few. they let you know they have products Available when you ask. But they are not pushy about selling them at all. Very low-key. I can't say anything about the treatments or the spa itself, this is because I made an appointment and no one was there when I got there. I confirmed this appointment twice via text message. I should have listened to my gut when no one ever answered the phone on Friday or today. I had a few hours away from my young kids and wanted to relax, instead I was met with anxiety and stress when I had to last minute find any spa that could fit me in. Went for the hammam today and here is my experience. Given the current pandemic, I don't think the right precautions were in place and I did not feel safe. I am now so scared that I'm going to take the covid test first thing in the morning. The ladies there were not wearing masks but face scarfs/bandanas which do not protect against covid, especially given how up close they are to your face/body. I was so uncomfortable that I had to ask the lady scrubbing me to wear a proper face mask vs. what she was wearing around her face. The ladies (bless their heart!) couldn't speak English so didn't tell me what to expect, when asked about the process and products, they couldn't communicate and apologized for not understanding so I blindly went in with no context as to what to expect, that is not a good customer experience. The ladies kept coming in and going without knocking while I lay naked in the sauna, again not what I would expect. My chest was scrubbed hard and I've now ended up with a big red rash. Also the glove that was used was just taken out of the pocket of the apron that the lady was wearing. It looked used and unhygienic (she was also wearing it inside out which made me wonder how dirty it was). It would have been also nice if she could have shared that her hands were washed (I highly doubt she washed them before scrubbing my body). I was also asked to walk across the main lounge with just a towel so they could apply oil on my body, luckily there was no one around but my goodness. My suggestion to the owner would be to ensure all her staff is equipped with the right PPE (mask and anti fog face shields) and they wear it at all times (one lady wasn't), speak enough English where they can explain the protocol and answer basic questions and are professional (knocking prior to entering, inform that they have washed hands before they touch your body, etc.). read more

I was greeted by sweet aromas and a sweet young lady that promptly ushered me to the dimly lit zen room that had plush pillows and soothing music. The young lady asked if I wanted some Tea or water. I HATE TEA...HATE! Buttttt I thought sipping tea is the right thing to do in that setting. The lady brought out warm tea. GAME CHANGER! Now on to the Hammad body scrub....WOWZERZ! I was given disposable undies, terry cloth wrap and super comfy slippers and was led to the sauna room where I was pre-conditioned with some sort of body wash. Got a couples package for my birthday and from beginning to end we were blown away from the experience. We have been to many spas but never one like this! As soon as you pass through the curtains you're taken over by an overwhelming sense of relaxation and an ambiance that flows through your body and drains the negative energy as they serve you tea on the couches.
