Absolutely incredible! We just moved to Minnesota and we were on the hunt for some local restaurants that we could frequent. We were driving around found a restaurant in the same plaza that had an hour wait! We decided that we should go somewhere else and we saw Happy Garden II. We come in and are immediately seated and greeted by somebody. Once the food comes, WOW! Not only does it taste incredible, but there is a ton! We used to get take out food at our local Happy Garden II quiet a bit over the years and were happy. Then something happened and everything wasn't so great anymore. The dishes were greasy and oversauced, the sweet and sour chicken were hard nuggets and some other items seemed right out of box or something. I didn't give up, but we stopped being a regular, and recently they seemed to have bounced back. Things seem better now and items seem fresher. I hope they continue to provide better quality as there isn't another Chinese place very close by. read more

We love Tiger Pork. Two weeks ago we ordered the tiger pork and it was so delicious that tonight my husband asked to order 2 of them. Very disappointed when we got home because it was not at all what we had just 2 weeks ago. Texture and flavor tasted very different. Very bummed. read more

I order my meal an hour ahead of time. When I arrived the woman at the cash register said oh I gave away your food don't worry I gave it to a good customer and I'll bring it right back then she proceeds to call the family and got a hold of the wife to the wife she had the wrong food hangs up with them and then tells me oh just wait a few minutes they'll be here shortly with your food and I don't want it after I left the store she said why are they in car I said no I don't want food that has left the building and she got very upset with me then proceeds to help the next customer apologizing and saying I was a rude customer. read more

Wife and I usually do takeout but opted for onsite dinner. I had the Mongolian beef entree and she had the sweet and sour shrimp. The beef was very flavorful and tender and not over cooked as sometimes encountered at other restaurants. The shrimp was tasty, lightly coated with a crispy crunch, tender, not rubbery, and were nice sized. We also enjoyed a house special appetizer plate that had a nice selection. This place remains our go to choice for Chinese food. read more

Very good Chinese take out!! Although Rising Dragon in Chaska had delivery, their food lacks the flavor, portion size, and value of Happy Garden. It's worth the 10 minute drive just for the fried rice alone!!! The lomein was a little "meh" but the pot stickers and orange chicken were tasty. I can't wait to go back and try other sides and entrées. The phone was answered promptly and order taken quickly, but she did not give me the total at the end and I forgot to ask. It was a pleasant surprise to find huge portions of food for less money than we expected, as Rising Dragon keeps raising their prices and cutting portions. Needless to say, Happy Garden has itself new loyal customers-- just based on the fried rice alone!! The fried rice at Rising Dragon simply rice, some chicken, and very light soy sauce -- barely any flavor. Not so at Happy Garden! It's rice, chicken, peas, eggs, bean sprouts, deep rich soy sauce with tons of flavor. I absolutely love it. Good fried rice tells a lot about a Chinese restaurant. I think I'm going to sneak off and eat some of my husband's rice before he wakes up. Next time, I'll order it for me!! read more

Sadly, Happy Garden 2 has gone downhill from previous years. The potstickers were reheated frozen that I can buy. The Lomein had no flavor. The Seasame chicken was soggy. I haven't been here in a long time until today. The food used to be so good. Should be called Sad Garden 2. read more

They've got a great cook and excellent food, The restaurant has really upgraded nicely.

We love this place. The servings are huge! I can feed my family a lunch and dinner with leftovers, and everyone looks forward to those meals. If we are talking about leftovers, I should add that we have 2 teens, and one 12 year old... So they are hungry older kids, not toddlers or young children The owners are so so so kind. read more

I'm not normally one to write Yelp reviews since I work in the service industry but whew Chile. I placed a carry out order online and when I arrived they were so scattered a lady had to grab her food herself since they weren't calling out orders and the food was just lying out. When I received mine they didn't even check the order and I ordered three entrees with an extra rice but we only received two rices.......please make that make sense. I tried to explain myself but was unsuccessful and I wasn't about to argue. The rice literally costs .25 to make it's not that hard to apologize when you make a mistake. read more

The garden is overrun with weeds. First time trying Happy Garden. Last time as well. Ordered online. Food was not ready until 15 minutes after the quoted time. Restaurant itself seemed neglected and in poor repair (see old dried up fountain next to the front door). Food handed off and I drove home. Once I got there, opened bags to note that one ordered dish was missing. Called the restaurant and spoke with a person who asked for my phone number and offered refund or for me to drive back and have them make the dish. I opted for the refund. You can guess that the refund never posted and I essentially got robbed $12.95. Of the food I received, pot stickers tasted frozen, most dishes were oily and flavorless. Classic move on the moo shu dish where they give enough filling for 4-5 pancakes, but the dish only includes 2. Go ahead and buy extra, a la carte. Sorry, Happy Garden, it's rare for me to spit out food, but you nailed it with the egg roll. Looking forward to trying whatever new restaurant fills the void that's been created by this crime of a restaurant. Edit: following this review, owner contacted me and made right on the missing food item. I appreciate the follow up and not disregarding the feedback. One star? This place hardly deserves a star anymore. I have been a regular customer for about 18 years, and have been in love with the place since the beginning. However, over the past year everything has gone downhill. Reason? Simple. The former owners sold the name off to a bunch of irresponsible people. The prices on the menus are not the right prices. They have increased the prices without even a warning on the menu. I had a bit of a shock paying for my last take-out order which was hardly worth the money that I paid. The food was definitely not what it used to be. They skimped on ingredients, and even the sweet and sour sauce portion for their infamous sweet and sour chicken has decreased by half! I recently discovered the owner change, and realized what a HUGE difference it has made. The old owner currently owns Pho 83 Inc in Shakopee. read more

I ordered take out late last week. Kung Pao chicken and fried rice. The food tasted old and chemical. I took a second bite and felt something in my mouth. There was a 1 1/2" metal wire. It was sharp edged; might have been from a cleaning utensil but I really have no idea. I took the wire and the food back and asked to see the manager. He took the wire, apologized and refunded my money. I mentioned to him that the food tasted bad and had really gone down hill. He didn't respond and didn't ask any questions. When I went in to pick up the order in the first place there was an employee or family member sitting at a back table sleeping with his head on his arms on the table. Its the best chinese food in the area. We always get Kunpo chicken, pork fried rice, lo mein and egg rolls. Everything is good and we have tried every one in the area including big bowl and I was soo disappointed with big bowl-their seseme chicken was so gross I couldnt even eat it! read more

Ordered Vegetable Lo Mein, with no onions, and egg rolls. Lo Mein was greasy and looked like a heap of noodles, loaded with onions, 5-6 pea pods and a few slivers of carrots. Took 2 bites of egg rolls and tossed out. Disappointing. read more

ordered take out chicken with peapods and chow mein. Chow mein had cabbage in it (yuck) and the chicken with peapods were coated with a white starchy substance that had no taste. There was no seasoning or sauce of any kind on the chicken with peapods. Threw it all away and vowed not to order from this place again. read more
