Our dogs were only half clipped and one had burns on him. The bandanas were so tight around their necks I had to cut them off. I was also refused to be given an itemised receipt. My dog has anxiety issues with her nails getting trimmed. I have taken her to Happy Hounds 3 times now and her nails are trimmed, smooth and they haven't hit her quick yet. My wife is sooooo mad. I took our dog in for grooming. When I picked him up I was shocked to see that he was scalped! He wasn't that badly matted at all. The last time we took him he was very matted but he came back looking great. I have a past picture and now I see how bad of a scalping he got. I'm in trouble because I didn't say anything. We won't be taking him back there. Don't let them talk you into "balding" your dog when they can be detangled. It just takes a little more time. I had my toy poodle groomed here after using another groomer who is much further away from home. First, when making an appointment they should inform you that they only accept cash or check, and Credit cards are accepted WITH A FEE. Checks will be obsolete within a few years and carry little cash as credit cards are preferred method of payment. Second, around my dogs mouth it was unevenly groomed and her nails seemed long. I ended up taking her to another groomer to get the trimmed. Also, would prefer to be able to see the crates they are keeping the pets, but it is behind a closed door. Did not feel it that they loved animals. Will try them again as I do try to support local businesses and have to give up my last few checks to pay. Seriously, cash? read more

We have a very large German Shepherd that needed a nail trim and could use a bath. Despite his size, he is afraid of everything and tries to intimidate others when he's scared (bears teeth, barks, raises hackle, etc.). He's never been to a groomer before (other than nail trims that took 2 minutes) and we picked Happy Hounds due to the high ratings. We were very uncomfortable leaving him there for 4 hours in a cage with his demeanor and didn't realize it would take that long.. After talking to other friends, we realize that's pretty normal but we were just under the impression we made an appointment to have him bathed at that time. Anyway, the staff understood he was just scared and nervous and knew how to handle him. They said they didn't have any problems bathing and drying him. I even called a few hours after dropping him off to check on him and they reassured me he was fine. He seemed to be well taken care of when we picked him up and he looked great. We loved the little bandanna they put on him. He was still damp but I'm thinking it's due to his undercoat holding water. We will very likely come back here again. The only reason we wouldn't is if somewhere can bathe him quicker than in a 5 hour time window. We really just did not like leaving him in a strange place in a cage for so long. My dogs have been going to Happy Hounds for a little bit now and haven't had an issue until now. I took my miniature schnauzer and malti-poo to get a trim and they shaved so much more then I wanted off. My miniature schnauzer came back with the chest piece shaved off and around the skirt was patches of hair missing. They even chopped his eyebrows off short. My malti-poo, he has always had the teddy bear face but this time they shaved his ears completely off (which I'm fine with because they were matted) but they shaved the top of his head and mustache/chin. Like why? All they said was they were going to probably have to shave off the ears due to matts but never said they were going to shave his whole head. I won't be returning. I am on the hunt for a new groomer. read more
