I can't prove anything, but know in my heart she was neglected for at least an hour before she was found. She just couldn't recover from that terrible situation. Suggestion to the team, take a picture when an incident occurs to learn from it. Follow thru with night time protocols to protect them. Put bed alarms somewhere to be heard at all times. If that is impossible, have someone sitting in nurses station or in hear shot of the alarms. Our loved ones are already in a strange place and don't understand the things they are going thru whether it is Dementia, Alzheimer's, or Parkinson's. Pay your caretakers more then $17 an hour. Especially when residents are paying thousands and thousands of dollars for care. You say you care for your residents.....

It was wonderful to see the residents sitting outside with baskets full of candy as we walked by. They all met us with warm smiles and welcomes and I know they enjoyed us there as much as we enjoyed visiting. I grabbed a business card and have plans to take my children back to volunteer in the near future. Rather than just taking on Halloween, my children both saw people Who would not be able to see trick-or-treaters smiling and happy to See us. My parents used to live at PVE also and they were well taken care of - but it has gotten even better. The staff is continually monitoring the needs of residents to make us feel like the community it is. They are always looking for resident input. PVE is over 70 acres of beautifully maintained landscaping and trees - making walks with our pets a time of relaxation. The fact that everything is included in one price makes it very easy to budget. We welcome our guests and family to visit as it is fun to show them around the Suisun Valley wine country 15 minutes away.

No just a sales pitch but really asked about him as person. I really loved the backyards & how they all touch and converge. Feels like it's more open and free. My dad can take his dog on a walk and visit other houses. The houses are big but there was not much decoration. Kind of felt empty. No little Nick Nacks or cushions & pillows in the bay windows. Nothing to make it feel homey. Everything was clean just maybe too modern. There was not much going on in the first house, just a tv program on, no music & nothing else happening but the second house had an activity and it seemed livelier. But only 3 people were doing the craft. I really loved the friendly staff. I met some directors. Jamie directs the care was super funny & had such a great spirit. I would like my Dad to move here this summer. I know that Tasha and the other staff really work hands on and believe in their place. I love the communication we got and the open door policy. I feel like it's a great fit for someone like my dad who still wants to have some freedom but be safe.

Your response suggests a lack of understanding of what a respite stay is and the purpose it serves. Families who rely on respite care often need to plan well in advance. While I am not asking you to guarantee availability, I am asking whether there is any upcoming anticipated availability so I can be the "first to be served" and can make informed plans.

The meals are substandard, the staff changes rapidly due to the fact that they are not qualified and seek better employment, the whole feel of the place is depressing. They spend a lot of money on image, but let the place fall apart. It is often voted best facility in Woodland because the administrators con every inmate to vote positive. When my mom decided that she needed to move into such a facility as this she choose The Califonian. At the time we did no comparing because she had made up her mind that that was the best. The units have no kitchen facilities except a sink. The first summer her unit reached a consistant 93 degrees regardless of having the cooling switch on. (We found out later the switch was not hooked up to anything. The administrators controlled the system) We eventually bought her a portable A/C rather than have her live so miserably. The frame of mind of these folks is don't complain, because there is so much you have to dend on them for. Any way there are to many things to mention than I can fit in this review. After her living there a year we had such a true sense of how horrible tbe place was we started looking around for a better facility. She is now in a place that is professionally run, has truely capable people working there, the cafeteria is more like a restaurant, the mood is amazing, and on top of that it is less expensive. All I can say is check around before you put your loved one in this hell hole. I can testify there are much better facilities for the same or less expenditure.
