I recently went to Happy Nail during a trip to Boise. I stayed at the Doubletree, whose parking lot conjoins that of Happy Nail and a few other businesses. It was empty when I walked in, and I was very pleased to find 2 very welcoming Vietnamese ladies and a wide selection of OPI polish. I expected it to be a little cheaper than it was ($15 for manicure, $30 for pedi-- you can get a discount if you get a combo), but the lady who did my manicure was so meticulous about getting rid of all of my cuticles that I really did not mind the price in the end. read more

After leaving the most unprofessional nail place ever with my sad & confused daughter (see my other post for details if interested) I IMMEDIATELY came to Happy Nails, in an effort to save our mommy/daughter day. Best decision! I walked in with no appointment, midday on a Saturday and stated that we "just need a trim and polish for my daughter's toes" since she had been snubbed at the last place just minutes before where I had mine done (crappy). She happily said she'd be with us in 5 minutes... And she WAS! She took great care and precision in trimming and polishing my very young daughter's toes. She is quick but careful and has an eye for every detail. I couldn't have been more thrilled! She said that I didn't need to pay her for such a tiny job, but I insisted and left her with cash and many many many thanks to her for her kindness and professionalism, along with her quality of work! She really went above and beyond, leaving me and my daughter happy, and saving our mommy/daughter day! The facility was clean and simple, with all the (new&seasonal too) OPI colors, and it seemed to have great ventilation since the smell wasn't overpowering, as I've experienced in other nail salons. I don't care if the decor and facility aren't super fancy and professionally designed, because the cleanliness and level of service provided at Happy nails puts other places to shame. My daughter is really happy and has been showing her perfectly painted and sparkly toes to everyone all day long, so they definitely earned themselves a return customer! I've tried a few nail salons since moving to Boise and was impressed with the polish selection as well as the service. I love OPI and lots of color options and Happy Nail has both, win! I just got a pedicure which was $30, kind of steep compared to Seattle but they were friendly, efficient and clean. They were very attentive and actually asked questions regarding if certain things hurt on my feet (I developed some blisters from running) and also had a bruise on my large toe which had to be previously drained. TMI, yea but they were inquiring and conscientious. It's in a small strip mall on Park Center and the only reason I stumbled in is because I was going to check out the dog boutique next door, Toby&Omar, which btw is an awesome shop!! I would actually head out of my neighborhood to have another pedicure here. Of the few nail salons I've tried in Boise they have the best polish selection. Keep in mind that I am not a "nail girl" and I've probably only been to 3-4 places so my statement is based on that. I tend to keep things pretty basic with my manicures (buff/shine) and don't gravitate towards totally funky polishes for my pedicure but Happy Nail had an awesome selection of orange hues which made my day. read more

Today was my first time going to Happy Nails and I am so glad I did. I had gone to another (ridiculously expensive) salon to get acrylic tips done and ended up with amateur hour nails. I hated people to look at my hands, it was embarrassing. After reading reviews about how good a job Holly does, I made an appointment for her to fix me up. So I told them I'd like for them to remove the acrylics I had on because I wanted gel only. The lady insisted I keep the acrylics. I didn't want to go back and forth so I just kept them. What a mistake. Well the guy, his name is Lucky, really friendly/funny guy, just kept messing up. The drill they used to remove the gel polish kept burning my finger! Then he kept leaving them square after I asked him to keep them round. He added way too much polish on some nails so it looks really fat and he'd just take the drill to it again. No one has ever had to file/drill it down after the top coat. But what I absolutely hated was how after "finishing" the job, he doesn't even dust/ clean the reside nail polish/acrylic shavings on and squirts all this lotion on my hands. I look at him and he makes a sign to rub it on myself (the lady next to me got a mini massage with lotion and this dude is going to do me like this?!) I begin to rub and feel all the sandy left over crap from the leftover shavings and with an "ewww" I get up and walk my hands. FORGET THAT PLACE! Horrible job. And who doesn't accept card?! This place is awful!! I do not recommend going here. I wanted to take my sister for a nice relaxing pedicure for her birthday. We arrive and they were all very unprofessional. We had two males doing our pedicures. The man I had was on his phone the entire time. He was rude and cut my nails so short that two days later it still hurts. He then did not massage like the $30 spa pedicure should include. Then when painting my nails entire sections were not painted on my toes. After this I should have known better than to continue with a fill on my acrylics but I did. The man burned two fingers of mine, did not clean up the nail polish he left on my finger tips, did not listen to the shape I had asked for on my nails, and still managed to be on his personal phone the entire time. Then when time came to pay the bill came to $52, which seemed reasonably priced for what we got. After leaving I then received a phone call asking me to come back in because they forgot to add in additional payments bringing my total to $85. It's safe to say I would NEVER return, or recommend this place. read more

I just moved to Boise and stopped in Happy Nail for an Acrylic Manicure + Color. Holly was booked at the time, but the client she was working on said Happy Nail is the only place she will go to in town, so instead of searching for another salon I just booked an appointment for a later time that day. When I arrived later to see Holly (the owner, along with her husband) I was able to choose a color from a wide selection of OPI polish and sat down at a CLEAN station. Holly is definitely a perfectionist, she made sure she processed my nails just like I wanted them, a very natural looking Acrylic. Holly is very sweet and she takes pride in her small business by complying with Health Department regulations and providing friendly customer service. I left loving my nails, loving the salon and loving the prices. My Acrylics were only $20 with color. Im happy to say that I found my Nail Salon, here in Boise! read more

I was in Boise for work and needed to kill some time so I decided to get my nails done. I went to LA nails first per a recommendation and they didn't have any appointments available all day. Went to Happy Nail instead. All the reviews say don't have Kevin, but unfortunately he was the only one available. I need to have my shellac removed and wanted a manicure. He couldn't remove all of the shellac and was scraping and digging at my nails way to hard. He didn't remove all of it and just went on with the process. He cut my cuticles and made me bleed in two fingers. WAY to hard. He kept saying, "that's weird....when did that happen." He didn't take ownership or apologize. Overall, manicure looks fine, except for the blood in two of my cuticles. He was way too rough with the whole process. Kevin kind of sucks. Wouldn't recommend. read more

They do my nails perfectly every time and take a genuine interest in my life. Make sure you give them a call because they are usually pretty busy but Holly is great about making time for everyone. I have been going to Happy Nails for 6 months. Holly has been doing my pink & white acrylic nails and I have been delighted. Holly is presently out for surgery. I called to schedule an appointment for a fill and was advised that Kevin could do it for me. I went to the salon on 2/13 and had the worst experience of my life at a nail salon. After an hour and a half, he admitted that he did not know how to do a pink and white fill. He had destroyed the set that I had on. He then offered to "fix them" (by putting on a new set). After two and a half hours at the salon, the new set looked terrible. I had several bleeding cuticles (and he applied no antiseptic to any area that he cut open). He cut the underneath of my nails in several places. I had acrylic stuck all over my hands. He wanted to charge me the price for a full set of nails less a $5 discount. When I complained, he increased the discount to $10 but muttered under his breath in his native language as he was processing the charge. I spoke with Holly's husband Brian the next day (2/14). I explained to him how terrible my nails looked. He advised me to come back into the salon and they would fix them. I had spent two and a half hours in the salon the day before, and I advised him that I would not allow Kevin to touch my nails ever again. Three days later, on Monday 2/16, my new set of nails are already lifting. I am going to make an appointment to have them fixed at another salon. I have never been through such a nightmare experience with any nail salon in my life. I am calling to dispute the charge with my credit card company today. read more

I had a pedi & it was so unsatisfactory my nails did not have top coat even & cut all jagged. My friend had gels & hated how it turned out. I was super disappointed in this salon from the beginning. I went in and sat for 20 minutes before they even started on my nails. Did my fill and left me sitting For another 20. I got a gel finish and the man rushed through them so quick that when I got home and ran my fingers through my hair the gel was dimpling and pealing off as if it was normal polish. I called for a refund and was insulted by the person on the other end calling me a liar that my nails did that and refused to give it to me. The nearest nail place to me is .5 miles but I will gladly drive the extra 10 minutes to have a professional and and personable gel manicure. They feel more like family than just manicurists. Upon my return to this place and the price had gone up to extortionate for gel nails. I had a bad hangnail the next day from excessive trimming of cuticles and the nails started chipping immediately. I have never had that happen with gel nails which are normally so long lasting. The edge of the polish near the cuticle was again "raggedy" and not smooth. I will not be back. read more
