This was just okay. I had a pedicure and my young daughter a manicure. Friendly staff, but be aware that it is only a basic service. In many salons have enjoyed a massage chair during pedicure, which they did not have. Also barely any calf/foot massage, which was disappointing. The friendly lady doing my young daughter's manicure was asking very personal questions, which made her quite uncomfortable. Hands down one of the most memorable and personable experiences at a salon ever. I appreciate the effort employees put in to tend to each client - they didn't let short staffing be a reason for subpar service. They were communicative and very kind. The salon didn't smell like any chemicals (I understand why some do) which was a nice add on, but never a negative. Vanessa gave me an exceptional pedicure, she's so personable and easy to talk to. I went in there to get a pedicure and didn't have a lot of money, so decided to get the $20 pedicure that was posted on the board. I did have gel left over on my toes, so they took that off, but charged me $15 extra without asking! I am mind blown by that much of a charge! This should have MAYBE been $5 more. So I spent $35 on a basic pedicure that was not that good at all. I will spend my money elsewhere next time, and pay a higher price with much better service. I am very disappointed. Got the first set done on Saturday, not even a week later they were peeling like this. Just got acrylics, nothing fancy. This has happened once before at another studio, it's when it's not cured long enough. No biggie. So called them to fix it, catch them an hour before close, said I just wanted to take the polish off and do a clear coat with just the designs, they said the designs (that they messed up with cure time) would cost me $10 to re-do. I said no, because I wasn't going to pay for their mistake, then once I was done they hadn't taken the polish off the ends and he told me it would be $5. I said it's $5 to fix you guys mistake? Terrible pedicures. Waited over 40 minutes after our appt time to start our pedicures. 3 minute massage, didn't cut cuticles, bad polish job on myself and my friend. I was a little put off that they didn't wrap the foot basin like most salons do, but maybe that was just a Covid thing? I was a little irritated when he walked away to go do something outside for a few minutes and then also answered a personal call while doing my nails. But ultimately not a huge deal. I love my colors and how fast they got me in and out. But the tips of my nails aren't quite smoothed out like you'd expect, which may be my fault for not speaking up. I have been coming back in more often once again for fills on my acrylic nails & these guys are the best. They are the sweetest people & very hard working. Yes, sometimes even when you make an appointment you may still have to wait, but they don't want to turn anyone down & sometimes appointments no show so really what other choice do they have. Even still, I've never waited more than 20 minutes or so & I've been coming here on and off since I was 16 (I'm now 23) and have never had a negative experience. My acrylics never pop off or break like they do when I go to other nail salons, and I feel their prices are comparatively very fair. They recently got very pretty new super luxe massaging pedi chairs & manicure chairs. So that took the ambiance up a few notches and makes for a very relaxing experience. I almost always love Kim Nails. Almost. The older gentleman, who I believe is the owner, is the reason for three stars. He does a sloppy polish job. All I ever do is gel polish on my nails, and whenever he does it: - I leave with bubbles and half the polish on my skin and into the cuticle. - He does a poor job of shaping the nail. - He sometimes skips steps. Like the last step of going over the nail with acetone. If I know I will be able to have a different nail tech, this place is great. But this man seems to have lost his touch. read more

So I called right when they opened and made an appointment for a pedicure at 12:30. I am writing this at 1:00 and they just now sat me down to start. When I got here they said they'd get me a chair ready but they never did. It took my friend telling them I had to leave to catch a flight for them to finally start my tub. As of this writing I am still sitting in the foot soak and no one has come to start. I only hope once this starts it's worth it because waiting over 30min when I had a reservation is ridiculous. It's now 1:05 and the guy just came and sat down to start. As I'm writing this, 3, THREE people have since come in and sat down immediately to tubs that were full and ready for them! Now Maybe their experiences are better or different that mine but I'll say that this is the most half asses pedicure I've ever had. The guy doing it literally just took the scouring pad and brushed my feet. So far I'm still not impressed. I am now having my feet grated with an honest to god cheese grater!! I have this in my house, not even joking. Kind of feel like a piece of cheese I'll now move on to the massage portion of this. I will give this an A because it did feel good, not too much pressure and actually quite a nice massage. Lastly the polish. This I can appreciate, they put my flip flops on first. This is nice because I always ruin my pedicure when I put my sandals on. When I started this review, it was a one star review, but as the pedicure went on it got up to three stars. The only reason I am giving them three stars and not more is because my pedicure started a half an hour late, and I only got a 30 minute pedicure versus an hour. The woman next to me, her pedicure was supposed to start at one, and hers started 40 minutes late! I've been here twice, the first time my friend had an appointment with her mom at 4:30, they didn't get us in until 6:30 and took walk ins before us. The second time My friend and I had an appointment at 4:30 and I got in at 5:30 but she wasn't helped until 6:30. There time management is not the best. The dad did my nails the first time and I didn't like them, he cut my cuticles up and they were not the same shape or size and they were chunky, then the son did my nails the second time and I loved them, the son was very nice and consistent and kind. He made them nice and the right length and size and actually compared them to eachother so they wouldn't be all different lengths. Overall I would only come here for the son and if you book an appointment be sure to be at least an hour late. read more

With the good history, I gave this salon 3 chances to show me my bad experience was a one-off; unfortunately they couldn't turn it around and now I'm off to find a new salon. 1st bad experience: booked an appt 1 week ahead; timed it so I would be done in time to pick up son before preschool closed. 20m after appt time, I asked if I was going to get my pedicure b/c now the wiggle room I booked into my schedule was gone and I was getting worried. Was headed out of town and needed the pedicure for a professional looking appearance, so I wanted it if I could get it. They stopped working on another lady, shoed me into a chair right next to her and started on my feet. I felt horrible and apologized profusely to the other lady; she was gracious and said no worries, she had nowhere she needed to be. I'm hoping she was a long-term customer and the employee knew she could put her on hold without any repercussions. I wouldn't have been so gracious if that happened to me. so while I'm in the chair, another woman with 2 daughters walked in with an appoint and after 10m past appt time, called it out; only to be told her appt wouldn't be honored for another 30m, and she was rightfully angry. As a mom, I get it... you haul 2 kids with expectations and this lack of service wastes time and energy. She was a working mom headed out of town too. So I got my pedicure but it was a rush job; bubble/smudge in big toe that she didn't bother to correct. 2nd experience: another appt for a pedicure 1 month later. a few minutes behind, a guy does 1st 1/3 of pedi and then walks away and starts working on somebody else. no explanation on if he's coming back or why he stopped. His son saw me looking around while he was helping another customer and told me, don't worry, somebody will be with you shortly. So a woman comes 5m later and does the massage and then she walks away. another 5m later the guy comes back to paint. all these unscheduled breaks were exhausting. no explanation. 15m of my time wasted. and this wasn't how it used to be here... you'd get one person for the entirety and you'd be in and out quickly. one week later I go for a manicure... going wine tasting in Oregon and wanted nice nails. 4 pm appt. by 9 am the next morning, nail polish had peeled off 1/2 way on 2 nails. by noon: 5 nails chipped and peeled. this is exact same bottle of nail polish I received on my toes the week prior so I don't think it was the polish... something about tool he used to buff, or missed a primer or something. within 24 hrs of mani, all 10 nails were ruined and I had to take the polish off. Has never happened to me in 30 years of polishing nails. They haven't shown care toward customer service in the store, so not an opportunity to share this feedback in person. Aside from my experience, they did update the store with new paint, new chairs and no more fish tank. It's hit or miss if they offer you a bottle of water. Original review: This is the type of salon I've been searching for since I moved to Boise 5 months ago: good quality for a fair price. (See 2 other reviews) I called ahead to find a good/slow time when I could walk in and when I did, waited 5 min. in lobby area and then another 5 min. on the chair. I think I got the owner; she said her name was Kim and she was grateful for my patience because she was starving and needed to scarf down some food between pedicures. I came in at 4, so they must've been busy all day. I was offered (and accepted) a bottle of water and I had the massage chair going the whole time. I was able to read magazines, watch TV or talk to the neighbors in a comfortable setting. Per another review on this page, I thought the koi looked quite happy in a healthy tank, but I'm no fish expert. The place looks clean and the employees are professional. Kim's Nails is clean and comfortable. Their prices are pretty great ($35 for a standard mani-pedi), and I would definitely recommend to a friend and will most likely visit again sometime. However, there are some downsides to getting your nails done here. First, it can take quite a while. My mani-pedi today took more than two hours because they kept bouncing between clients. Also, they don't have the best polish selection, and several of their polishes look pretty old. So, overall, a good nail salon, but not a GREAT one. It works for a cheap, quality mani-pedi, but isn't a luxurious experience and might take up your entire afternoon. read more

My sister invited her close friends and family to have bridal pedis at Kim Nails. This was my first visit to this salon, and considering there were 6 of us getting our nails done pretty much all at the same time, the staff and technicians did a very nice job with the pedis and getting us done in just a few hours. I found the stations to be clean and the tools looked to be sanitized and sealed. Of course, I always like having a massage chair when getting a pedi. Jonathan, the young man who worked on my feet did an exceptional job and he was friendly and personable. The cost was $25 per pedi. There are just two little suggestions that keep me from giving them 5 stars. One, I think having 6 pedis booked for a bridal party, a small discount might have been in order or a complementary glass of wine. Second, after our nails were done, we waited about 15 minutes in the chairs with no instructions. After a while, we took out our toe dividers and went to pay. While were were at the cashier, one technician belatedly caught us and sprayed our toes with what should have been a drying or polish setting spray. read more
