I'm fairly new to Boise. When I needed to find a hair salon I asked around and was directed to Collective Concept. As I needed an appointment quickly I took one of the stylists who had an opening, Rebecca Leinberger, and have stayed with her since that first appointment about a year ago. What I sincerely like about Rebecca is her professional skills from hair cutting to hair dying & styling. She's also a fascinating conversationalist. I always walk away with a great look because of her magic hair skills. She's always on time and professional. As to the environment of the salon...quality! It's housed in a quaint, old Boise row home. It's built of stone on the outside with a traditional interior to the period it was built with modernization of course...they do have internet. Grin! Parking is also easy to find nearby. I love older homes so it's a place of beauty for me to visit each month. read more

Everything about my experience here was absolutely wonderful! This salon is in a cute little building right by Capital Cellars in downtown Boise. The interior is dressed with all sorts of local art work, exposed brick, and gorgeous lighting from its front windows. Also, their hair washing station is actually SO comfortable. Normally when I get my hair washed by a hairdresser I squirm around like I'm five years old because I find the neck supports so uncomfortable. Not here, I laid back, relaxed, and after my hair washing concluded, I realized I was so zen the whole time. SCORE. While all of the aforementioned is wonderful, I'll move on to the important stuff...the hair I left this salon with. I got a haircut by Rebecca. She is so talented! I asked her to trim as little off my hair as possible and to cut it so I can wear it either straight or curly (I have a perm, so my recent haircut was for curly hair). She did exactly that! I can wear it either way and my hair looks healthy and happy. I also told her I'm not a fan of layers, so instead she added in a few texturized pieces to make all of the curls blend. I left overjoyed with how my haircut turned out. One final note: I brought up a few ideas of things I wanted to do to my hair and Rebecca gave me honest feedback about how those styles would turn out on my hair, but then gave me a suggestion of something similar that would work with what look I was going for. So thankful for a hairdresser that is a perfect combo of honest but also helpful! read more

I wanted to go closer to my natural red hair color after literal decades of highlighting blonde and I was super nervous because red is HARD & I've had other bad experiences. Emily took all my wants, dislikes, pictures (ha!) and made the PERFECT outcome of natural red EVER! It made my skin tone glow! You NEED Emily in your life! I can't recommend her enough! There are few things more damaging to a man or woman's self-esteem than a bad haircut. Such as a broken heart, lost of a loved one, or just a tough day at work, but a terrible cut can have a very deep emotional impact on us. Our haircuts affect our mood, our self-confidence, and even our social life. A great haircut, on the other hand, has the power to make us feel fantastic, confident, and full-filled with life itself. The debacle is, the pursuit of finding a consistent source of this hair follicle charade we feel drawn to can be a costly one. I'm here to report I've come to an end in this pursuit of a Holy Grail of Salons. I have been getting my haircut since July 2015 at Collective Concept by Charlie Novak. My hairdresser, Emily, recently moved to Collective Concept downtown in the old Historic Building on 5th street. Since I love Emily, I followed her over there, a little comprehensive about finding parking downtown, but it was no problem with parking right across the street. I just loved the atmosphere of the old brick building and even inside it was cozy and speaks of history and days gone by. I can understand why Emily decided to make the move. Emily gave me a sample of the products they use and I must say I love it. Will be back for more! I recommend anyone to go check it out! read more

Alana is AMAZING! I had had my makeup and hair done as a bridesmaid once and hated it! So I was a little nervous to get it done as a bride and almost didn't. Alana however made me look amazing!! I don't normally wear a lot of makeup so I still wanted to look like myself in my wedding photos just a little more enhanced. Alana did exactly that. I had recently recovered from 3 brain surgeries and was not happy with my weight, my looks, I have a closet of clothes I can't wear. I just didn't feel pretty anymore.
