I, and my husband, have been going to happy nails for YEARS, always getting a gel mani and diamond pedi. This last time what is normally a nice interaction left me feeling appalled. There seemed to be confusion on the color I picked for my gel mani. After I noticed the wrong color was being used (a deep red 1 coat in on 3 fingers) on my hands, I said this is the wrong color. Keep in mind, the right color is being used on my toes and I wished to use the same for both. The tech was like oh, I'll just paint over it, and I told her that wouldn't look right since I picked a light pink. I'd prefer if she just redo those three nails. What ensued was actually insane, the tech proceeded to berate me in English and non-English. I said I don't blame you, it's just a misunderstanding, but at the end of the day, I want to leave happy with the nail color I wanted from the start. It is neither persons fault, but I still want my mani done properly. Eventually another tech took over my manicure and sent the first tech to cool off. The first tech proceed to sit across from me on a spa chair, drinking her drink, staring at me and mumbling loud enough I could hear her complain about me for 30 min. The management did nothing about this. As I left, again leaving a sizable tip esp for my pedi lady, I told the manager I did not appreciate the way I was treated today as a longstanding customer. Sad that they will lose monthly business from me and my husband, but I strongly believe that I choose where to spend my money and it won't be where I am disrespected. My previous nail technician had moved so my mom referred me to Happy Nails on Irvine Blvd where she has gone for over a decade. It's a really positive experience each time. All of the employees are extremely friendly, the business is kept clean, and they play good music. On occasion I take my young daughter with me to get a polish change, and she's treated like a princess. Disappointing experience Last week I went in for an ombré dip powder manicure. The technician suggested doing the base with dip powder and finishing with gel. Even though I've had ombré dip powder many times before, I agreed. The result didn't look like an ombré, so it was redone as a gel French over a dip base. I was still charged for a dip refill and only received a $5 discount after mentioning my concern. The next day my thumbnail chipped. It was fixed, but a couple of days later the same nail and another finger chipped again, and the rest are wearing at the tips. I work an office job, so this was disappointing. Stay Away From This Place -- Especially Tara and the front desk lady! I've been a loyal customer at this location for years, but it's clear they no longer care about respect, professionalism, or customer value. I was told I could come anytime between 4-6 PM, with 6 being the last appointment. I specifically said I'd arrive around 5:30 so I could soak my hands and feet longer, since they always rush and end up hurting my dry skin. After being stuck in traffic for an hour, I still made it by 6 PM. I even tried calling several times, but no one answered. When I arrived, they simply turned me away. Tara claimed she had another appointment -- which was clearly not true. What's worse is how rude and dismissive they were. They made discriminatory comments, saying they were "not comfortable" taking me(10 years old customer) and they constantly speak in their own language around customers -- which is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. and then told me they don't take walk-ins. That's a complete lie, because their Yelp page clearly says "Walk-ins Welcome." On top of that, they've used photos of my hands and feet without my permission in their service menu. That's completely unacceptable, and I won't stay quiet about it. This place has lost all professionalism, honesty, and basic courtesy. Zero stars if I could. This place is an absolute disgrace and one of the worst businesses I've ever dealt with. The employees here are rude, careless, and downright disgusting. My girlfriend had her finger CUT OPEN by one of the workers -- and I'm not talking about a little nick. There was a lot of blood, and instead of showing any concern, the staff pretended nothing happened. The worker didn't apologize until after finishing the entire service, as if my girlfriend's bleeding finger was just an inconvenience to her schedule. When I arrived, the staff straight-up lied to me. One employee tried to brush it off as "normal" and called it a hangnail, only for someone else to later admit that, yes, it was an accident caused by their carelessness. So not only are they dangerous -- they're dishonest too. The worst part? A roughly 60-year-old employee stood there LAUGHING while we were discussing what happened. Laughing -- while my girlfriend was uncomfortable, bleeding, and clearly hurt. Who does that? It was honestly nauseating to see how little they cared. Their pathetic idea of "making it right" was a $10 discount, offered while still laughing. Absolutely insulting. This place clearly has zero regard for customer safety, basic professionalism, or human decency. I would NEVER recommend anyone risk getting injured here. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I went to Happy Nails on 1/12/24 to get a mani/pedi and left with a pinkie finger wrapped in a Band-Aid because the tech cut into my cuticle too deep. The tech kept trying to stop the profuse bleeding with alcohol and then tried to glue it shut which I told her no. She kept apologizing which I accepted. When it came time to check out, the manager who is always very talkative had absolutely NOTHING to say. II kept looking her in her eye for a full 2 minutes waiting for her to say a word. Never utter a word offering an apology or a discount on the services received or a future service to try and get me back as a customer (I won't be back). Today I got gaslit by the male manager here I think his name is Tom or something but he painted my nails extremely unevenly and I told him just one of them were uneven. HE SHOOK HIS HEAD and SIGHED and said it was because of my cuticles. I told him Tammy never had that issue and she never even did my cuticles. She made it flawless. He tells me "next time just book with Tammy then." WTF??? Then he conveniently switches with somebody else to do another customers nails and I said "I don't think I said anything wrong" .. PROCEEDS TO GIVE ME SILENT TREATMENT for his lack of technique. Book with Tammy? Why don't you be a professional and learn how to do your job. Don't do your job if you're gonna be grumpy and resentful to customers. Someone else repaints my nails and she kept defending him saying it's a "hard color" to paint LMAO Tammy did the same brand pastel lavender and she did it so fast and no issues. The girl immediately evened out Toms crappy work tho so what's his excuse?? Then. The dirty top coat put some lint and pink colors onto my nails because the top coat bottle has pink stuff in there....again, not something I caused. Because of that, she kept sighing and telling me she's never had such a hard time??? I said omg me toooo haha and she's like MORESO ME. Girl what???? Quit your job then. I've never had a SIMPLE color change for more than an HOUR. I'm clearly not the issue, everyone everywhere else like 33 Nail Bar, other nail salons, other Happy Nails, all have me in and out the store in 30 min or less for a color change. It wasn't even b a manicure. Literally so incapable and unprofessional. 1.5 hours here for a color change? That's on you guys. I just sat there and talked about ONE nail and they sighed and threw a tantrum. Dont even get me started last time. I had to justify why I wanted a simple color change and not a gel mani. He was SO upset and sighed again last time because I wanted the simple and cheaper route. He asked me why so many times and I kept telling him bc I like to change colors and I don't want to damage my nails im trying to let it rest. Like why do I need to justify why I want a service? Howie is amazing! It was my first time meeting her and from the start to all throughout, she was so friendly and personable. I like having all different colored nails and chose two colors that I for sure wanted then asked Howie for her recommendation on the rest (after letting her know for less pastel and more summer like colors). She helped bring the final color choices together and it turned out so pretty! I also want to emphasize that she has a great eye for nails! I've always went with a rounded square shape but Howie suggested I try the oval shape and that it would compliment my hands more. I tried it and love it! I came in on a Thursday afternoon around 1.30 pm. Had called 10 mins before to inquire if walk-in was possible. I was lucky , it was a quiet afternoon. Felt like I had the whole place to myself This was my first time coming here and I was helped by Tara. Initially I was a bit intimated by her demeanor. She openly told me she's very experienced and she's been doing nails for a long time. She kind of TOLD me what she will do for me instead of asking what I needed. She continued on commenting how the last salon did not do a good job, etc. At this point, I decided I will just be patient and give her the benefit of the doubt and see the end result. Through out the process, she does continuously ask me if I like the shape of my nails and explained to me what she will be doing next.
