Lucky did a great job on my nails, meticulously cleaning up the cuticles and shaping the builder shape. They also somehow keep the salon incredibly clean and free from odors. All of the tools are very hygienic, coming from the sterilized wrapping. And the nail stations are all very clean. Lucky and Sandy were amazing! I came in this morning to get my nails done for my 4th of July trip this week to DC. I came with an inspo picture and they did a perfect job! This was my first time here and I love the small salon with specialty touches. They have thought of everything! They have a board that lays across the armrests to make a tray for my manicure to get done while in the pedicure chair. Scheduled a mani and pedi for myself and Keiki mani and Keiki pedi for a fun mothers daughter date night. My nails did not come out well at all. For $68 before tip for my mani/pedi I would have expected a cleaner better job. My nails were not filed in an almond shape as requested, they were rough, and the paint job was quite messy. My first time here and I think I've found my forever spot!! I rarely get my nails done and wanted to try Gel X for the first time and I'm so glad I came here. I did a walk in on a Monday and told me the wait would be 45 minutes because they had an appointment scheduled and there was only one nail tech. Turns out the wait was actually an hour and 15 minutes but they made up for it with the service + $5 off for the inconvenience at the end. Sandy was my nail tech and she took her time with my nails making sure I liked the shape, (I'm very picky) the color, design, etc. I ended up staying after closing and didn't feel like she was trying to rush or anything. I've had them on for more than a week now and they are still in perfect condition. When I returned to collect my refund, I was assisted by Camille, who initially offered an apology--which I appreciated. However, it was quickly followed by explanations that minimized the behavior rather than simply taking accountability. An apology tends to lose its value when it is immediately reframed. For context, I came in after working a 17.5-hour shift while fasting, hoping for a straightforward and efficient service so I could break my fast. I understand that everyone has long days, but professionalism--especially in customer-facing roles--is not situational. What became more concerning was the repeated pressure to update my Yelp review after receiving a refund. I was contacted multiple times, including during Eid and New Year's. Respectfully, most people are not checking their phones or writing reviews during their holidays--just as I would not expect anyone here to be updating Yelp on Christmas or New Year's. At that point, the follow-ups felt less like customer care and more like an attempt to manage optics. Additionally, I later noticed a comment from a private or anonymous account referencing details about my refund--information that was only known to a very limited number of staff present at the time. While I will not speculate, it does raise reasonable questions about professionalism and discretion behind the scenes. To Camille and Sandy: I ain't stupid--I am a bitch and you messed with the wrong one. Which is why I am calling you out by name. To be clear, I recognize and appreciate the owner's effort to address the issue. However, consistency across all staff is what ultimately defines a business. Professionalism cannot exist only at the management level--it has to carry through every interaction. I hope this feedback is taken constructively. I ordered a Japanese manicure, but what they used weren't Japanese brands (not like ageha or presto). They don't meant to use those brands, but if that is the case, what does Japanese manicure mean? My nails are fragile, so my nails got severely damaged after 4 weeks. I even felt so hot when I put my hands in UV light...Design is okay, but the mirror technique is something I have never seen; in most cases, a matte base is needed before putting the mirror powder on, but they used a toothpick and put the mirror powder... which didn't give a crisp line. I had a lot of questions to ask, but if you don't speak Mandarin, you feel left out in this salon. Although there are many good reviews, unfortunately, this salon wasn't for me. Extremely overpriced for basic services , they up charge you on every little thing added in to your nails and the nail artist is so slow it took an extra hour to do basic design and on top of that , can't even paint a simple star . First time trying this salon and I loved it! You can book your appointment online which I find super easy & convenient. I saw Lucky for builder gel manicure and she did a great job. It was $60 for the manicure + $10 for the cat eye effect. Undoubtedly, this place is very cute, clean, and has a very extensive and brilliant color selection. Unfortunately, I left felt feeling completely ripped off. First, I made an appointment the day before for a morning slot, but when I arrived, there was only one technician doing another customer's nails. No one else was in the store. I had to wait almost an hour for someone to come to do my nails (a builder fill job). I wasn't too upset at the time because I wasn't in a rush and ended up having a nice chat with the other patron. When I was getting my nails done, everything was pleasant and the technician was very nice and competent, and when my nails were done, they looked good enough. The only thing is on one of my nails that the technician had to fix along the way, the color turned out darker bc she fixed the nail by applying one more coat than the other nails. I didn't ask for a correction because I had already been there for over 2 hours at this point. Still, that's not what made me decide I would never return here. Paying for the services is what has me decidedly against returning. Mind you, I was quoted $55 to do the fill when I was on the phone. That's more than my normal place, which only charges $45 (I only tried this place because my normal tech at my normal place was on vacation). When I went to pay, I was asked if I was a first time customer. I said yes, thinking I was going to get a new business promotion. Instead, I was charged all these additional line items...like a gel color removal fee and all this other nonsense. The explanation was that next time, I can get a builder fill for $55, but because it was my first time, I had to pay these other costs. So the total came to $70-something before tip (yes I still tipped on to of it all). Absolutely ridiculous considering the job was the exact same "fill" job that would have happened if I was a return customer, which was extra offensive after having to wait an inordinate amount of time even though I had an appointment. So while I "earned" the right to get a reduced price on a fill next time, sorry Aloha, there won't be a next time. Edit: The store's reply to this post is very professional of them and I very much appreciate that. I truly do hope they improve and succeed. However, I need to make clear that the service provided was exactly what I would have gotten if I stuck with my normal salon when requesting a "builder fill." The surface of my nail was partially sanded like a normal fill and then builder was added at the base and then on top of preexisting, albeit sanded builder...again, like a normal fill job. Up charging simply because another store had applied the prior builder, especially upon asking the customer if they are new, is tantamount to charging more just because the customer is new. So if Aloha is looking to improve, they should think about how illogical their policy is. I get it, at my regular place, yes, you pay more for your initial set when they are first done and they are putting on brand new set on nails without prior builder. This is not a what I got.
