Absolutely the worst experience. I'm visiting from Washington, DC, and needed a fill for my Gel-X nails. I think that's where things went wrong and it appears that my request got completely lost in translation. As it became clear that Mike wasn't familiar with what I was asking for, I tried explaining exactly what needed to be done. Instead of listening, he cut me off and insisted that what I was requesting was incorrect. Clearly, it wasn't, because later that same evening THREE of my nails broke completely off. And no, these were not press-on nails. I called the next morning since the salon was already closed when the nails broke. I spoke with a very pleasant young lady named Jenny who apologized and explained that Mike had been feeling ill and that I was his last customer before he left. Unfortunately, that explanation matched the quality of the work--it felt rushed and careless. She invited me back to have the nails repaired. When I returned on Tuesday, Kim started working on my nails, but then Nancy took over. Keep in mind, this was only a three-nail repair. During the service, Nancy repeatedly stopped to take phone calls. Then, when two other customers came in who appeared to be regulars, she left me sitting there to assist them instead. Nothing says "your time doesn't matter" quite like being abandoned mid-service while someone else is helped. The lack of professionalism, attention to detail, and customer service was disappointing from start to finish. If you have another option, take it. read more

I'll give a 2 to my experience. I've spent money at this salon a few times and the technicians were rude. Namely, the technician who wears her glasses low on her nose. I'm sure now, she's going to raise them. I get a pedicure on occasion when I'm training for marathons and need care for my feet and toes. On this occasion, I went to another salon before subjecting myself to this one. I know I could have chosen many others but I chose this one. Regardless, I deserve excellent service. I requested a regular pedicure and received a sub par pedicure. The technician spent the first few minutes attempting to upsell me. The massage chair didn't work. The least she could have done was investigate why it wasn't working. Instead, she did what many nail technicians USA have done. You know the drill. She started chatting with her fellow technician and giggling. Just so you know, many forms of body language are universal. Same tired conduct. Do better. I understand speaking in your native language, and I certainly think people should. However, there are too many instances of Asian businesses speaking negatively of black patrons over the years. The least you can do is make the customers, who are predominantly black at this and every other nail salon USA, feel comfortable by speaking English and attempt to build a relationship. If you're not having a full blown conversation, at least make the session interactive using your words and not tapping and tugging our limbs when it's necessary to move them. There are several times to connect while you're completing a pedicure or manicure. Use your words by requesting we raise our left leg or right leg, etc. Build relationships with your customers. There are many people who will stand up and likely say their nail technician is not rude and they have a good relationship. My review is not a blanket statement. Nor am I saying every nail salon technician is rude. I am saying the times I've visited Happy Nails, the technician's have been rude and completed a sub par job. I am saying that many Asian run nail salons have conducted themselves in this manner. Unfortunately, your black patrons are why you're been in business for as long as you have. If we stopped getting pedicures, manicures, gel nails, etc. your business would cease to exist. It will not cost you a thing to be nice, respectful and show some appreciation. It's as easy as offering tea, water, light snacks even. Sell them if you want to. Provide customer service training, bias training and anti-racism training for your technicians Nancy, your patrons deserve better. So, do better. read more

I have been going to Happy Nails easily for more than 10 years, easily. While over the years the business has grown and new technicians have transitioned in, the quality of service has declined. Today, While waiting to get waxed a technician, and I say that nicely because I feel it was clear this young lady had No customer service training, came up to me and said I need this chair. No explanation, no excuse me, just I need this chair. Mind you there were five empty chairs on the other side. Confused, I got and she walked away, I then sat back down. Then she said again, I need this chair, I said, there are plenty of chairs over there. She stated I need to wax. If this is the case, then you approach the person and say, excuse me I'm sorry I need this chair to wax a client, do you mind moving for a moment. Like I said, Ive been going to this shop for over 10 years, I've never been rude and I tip well. Some training on customer service goes a long way. The only reason you're getting one star is because I had to select something. My 17-year-old niece went in yesterday with a picture of the nails she wanted. The staff said they could do it--then gave her something completely different. When she politely said she didn't like them and explained they weren't what she asked for, the woman at the front desk was rude and dismissive. Instead of fixing the issue, she told my niece they'd charge her again to correct their own mistake. If you can't do the work, say so. Don't lie to customers and then try to charge them twice. I was a little anxious to get my nails done here after hearing many hit-or-miss stories by my friends who had come, but overall I was quite pleased with my experience! I walked in at around 10 AM on a Tuesday for a gel manicure. I waited maybe around 10 minutes before I was brought to a desk. I was SO indecisive about which shade of white I wanted to pick out for my graduation but Nancy was super sweet and helped me try several options and recommend her favorite. I usually get my nails done downtown and I will say I think they generally pay a bit more attention to my nails. I recall being surprised how quick my manicure took and it felt like a few steps were skipped. The manicure was a bit more expensive than I was expecting as well, $48 post-tip. I was serviced on 1/14/24 for my birthday: my no chip/gel pedicure is holding up great however ,my no chip/gel nails started chipping/peeling the evening of 1/14. I returned on 1/16 to have the chipped nail fixed and they did fix them for free but in a messy manner. The acrylic and polish was added back onto the chipped part but the nail was not filed so once dried, it was clearly slanted. While getting those other nails repaired, I pointed out another nail that was felt rough, and they did nothing about it- that same nail chipped the evening of 1/16. Other nails began peeling on 1/17. Happy Nails is ok - not the best, but you can usually get a walk in appointment, which is convenient. The nail work is usually rushed, and you have to keep an eye on the work and continue to ask for what you want throughout the appointment. Otherwise, the cuticle work is messy, especially for pedicures. You can tell they are trying to rush through appointments to get you out the door. After reading the reviews I was skeptical BUT I tried anyway. It was a snowy Sunday morning and I had completed my shopping so, I decided to check out this mail shop. I'M glad I DID! I had a bit of a wait there were 3people in front of me and all of the technicians were busy. I had a new technician Macha she was really nice and we held a good conversation. I also had a good conversation with another mail tech (Twin) and his customer, it was an enjoyable experience. The nail salon was welcoming, clean and it had a pretty good clientele dispute the negative reviews. Overall, I was very pleased with my service it was snowing out so, the nail tech put oil in a small plastic bag to wrap my feet in before I put my boots onsuch a nice touch! My family members and I came here to have a nice spa day since this was a first time since getting our nails done since the pandemic. We had a nice experience but the quality is not great. When I got home from the salon, my nail polish completely off (one finger). The next morning, I went back to salon to ask them to fix it and the nail tech made we wait 40 mins to fix the nail because it was other people in front of me. I just need them to fix my one nail but ok I'll wait. Day 2, after changing my toddler's clothes, I noticed two more nail were chipped and the polish came completely off. I've been here a few times and it's definitely a hit or miss, but this the last time for me. This short guy with a Mohawk hair cut did my pedi and he was so fast and unprofessional it was unreal. Talking to others and not looking at what he was doing and jabbing my feet with the instruments. He only gave me one coat of polish. I asked about the second coat and he said - no it's only one coat unless you get no chip. I didn't have no chip before and got two coats of polish. Read the reviews and you will see. This was my first time here and I came to get an acrylic fill. I chose a sparkly black color (pictured). The first problem was how short the nail tech cut my nails. I asked for them to be cut a little bit (they were clearly overgrown before) and she cut them essentially to my natural nail length. Next, she started applying the sparkly black, which was coming out clear with a black sheen. After two coats it was basically grey (pictured) and she applied the top coat. I asked her why she stopped applying more coats and she said it would change colors outside to become a darker black??? I went outside to test it and the tips changed to black while the rest of the nail was still grey. It literally looked horrible. I asked her if she could make them black (like I had asked) and she balked but did it. She painted a coat of plain black polish over the sparkly grey mess, making my nails super thick and gloopy looking. (final product pictured) The whole time she criticized me for bending my fingers and would hit my knuckles in a disrespectful way. I finally went to pay and found that they charged me $3 extra to cut my nails short, which they didn't tell me about and I didn't ask for. On the one hour wait on this busy Sunday afternoon, but well worth it. The owner Nancy was very attentive, even though she was running around, taking care of business. Eric did my pedicure and gave great color. suggestions, and his attention to detail was phenomenal. He was quick, efficient, friendly, and very professional. I've been coming here since they opened years ago and I wish them luck in their business. The place is clean, ambiance is cozy, they all wear masks even though they really don't have to and everyone appears to be so nice. The price is excellent. The selections and variety of services are phenomenal. I come here every month and wish I can come more. I went to Happy Nails on Thursday after work. I came there two times before and I told them I have sensitive skin please make sure the wax is not too hot! I burn easily! They almost burned me the first two times. I figured third times the charm and that they would get it right! They burned me soo bad! I had to go on vacation Friday... which made the Situation worse. I went to this location because my usual spot was busy and I waited to the last minute to get my nails done for a wedding I was leaving for the next day, in Cancun. I got a gel/no-chip manicure. The lady never introduced herself or gave me a name. By far one of the worst gel manicures I've ever received. It wasn't even a full 24 hours before the "NO-CHIP" starts peeling. By time the wedding came, I looked as if I never had a manicure. I would have been better off doing them myself. I was completely embarrassed on how my hands looked. Keep in mind, I'm in Mexico and can't just go back and have them fix it. Nor did I have polish with me because I had a manicure that should've lasted at least 2 weeks. I was so disgusted I called the salon. Oh come in and we will fix is what they said. Told the lady I was in Mexico. Not once did she apologize for the inconvenience. Upon my return, I go in and have them fix. The lady at the front did them. She seemed to have an attitude that she was. I should be the one with the attitude. I am very happy with happy nails! I was hesitant about getting my nails done at a Hyde Park establishment because my previous experience at a different HP salon was very poor. However, I am very satisfied with the outcome of my nails here (see photo). I came in at 1:45pm on a Sunday and was seated within 5 minutes. I asked for gel nails and was given the standard treatment (soak, cuticle care, etc.). I am bummed I didn't ask for the lady's name! She was very very efficient. I was in and out in 35 minutes! I was charged $35 before tip. And by the way, there is no extra charge for paying with credit card. I will definitely be back. read more

I started going to Happy Nails this past January and went once or twice a month for the next 6 months. I was fine with my gel manicure the first few times I got my nails done there, but that is mainly because I had nothing to compare it to seeing as I just began getting my nails done this year. After months of having my nails done by at least five or six different nail techs at Happy Nails, I can 100% say I will not be going back. On multiple different occasions, my gel nails became discolored and/or chipped super easily. Multiple times, my nails started to chip within 5 of 6 days. The first two times that discoloration happened, I went back and complained and was charged for a color change. One time, to their credit, the nice girl behind the front desk acknowledged the discoloration and did a quick coat of a similar color for free. The other times, I was told that it was definitely not their product that was the issue and they insisted that I was using fake tanner or hair dye that was getting on my nails (I do not self tan or dye my hair). I'm attaching pictures of the last manicure I will ever be getting at Happy Nails--the color completely changed within 24 hours of application. They are supposed to open at 10am and are never on time. There is always a line and they don't take appointments. Definitely go somewhere else. read more

Today was my second time going. I now know to stick with the manager, Jenny. She's great and knows what she's doing. The first time, I showed her a picture of pink nails and she did her thing. This time, a woman with a tattoo on her forearm did my nails and they looked terrible. She had the nerve to charge me an extra $5 for cutting my nails down way too short. They were so bad, I just showed them to Jenny. She asked me if I had time to wait. I didn't but came back a couple of hours later and she fixed them. I'm please with Jenny's professionalism and glad I don't have to walk around embarrassed. However, it left a bad taste in my mouth and let me know that Jenny is the only one I'd trust to do my nails. 9/9/18- Jenny is dope. She's done my nails 3 times and every time I've loved them.
