I visit Jasmin's every month (and have been for the past year and a half) to get my eyebrows threaded. Jasmin does a fantastic job, and knows just how to shape my eyebrows in a manner than most flatters my facial features. I always leave the salon satisfied with the quality of service. I have also received two pedicures there and have liked them, especially for the price and the time and effort the pedicurists put into their work. You do not need to call ahead if you want your brows threaded, but I recommend that you call ahead if you want a pedicure. The ambience is simple and almost hole in the wall--it's not the kind of place where you want to linger for too long. I've never experienced issues with cleanliness. One caveat: the thread used during the threading process tends to be on the thicker side. This sometimes causes small cuts that heal in a day or so. I use tretinoin (though I do not use it the day before and the day of threading) and have thick brows, which could perhaps be contributing to the cuts. Overall, I highly recommend the threading services at Jasmin's, especially when they are offered by Jasmin herself! read more

I enjoy my visits here. Calling in for an appointment can be tricky - I tend to get a hold of people in the early afternoon between 1-3pm. I go to Rebekah, and she is so friendly and takes pride in her craft, being detailed and not rushing. Thr salon gives me a neighborhood vibe, in that there are frequent customers and people who just stop in to chat with the employees. In comparison to other nail salons I've been to in the city, their prices are very reasonable: less than $50 for a gel manicure, and a gel mani and pedi is under $100. read more

Getting a polish change here after doing the stuff incompetently myself for a year was a joy. Peaceful, relaxing experience without froufrou TV or loud music; pretty street view; and lovely colors. It was chipping off my hands five days later, but that is my usual experience everywhere. My toenails look perfectly respectable after a month. The nail tech clearly knew what she was doing; she was quiet, pleasant, focused, and an artist. She also sensibly suggested I flip my initial choice and use the orange sherbet color on fingers and subtle brown on toes. That was a really good idea. Now I get to stop going north for this service; I can just walk around the corner into a nice little old-school shopping strip. I forgot to post this a month ago. Since then the nail tech I saw went on to start a singing career and the shop was painted. Jasmine is awesome at threading. She had no-pressure way of letting me know. I told her that I'm strictly a plain type. I changed my mind at the last minute. She said if I didn't like it, just let her know and it was no commitment. 4. I'm not a talker and the silence was easy. When we did talk, it was very easy and friendly. 5. Very soothing, firm massage. 6. Price for no-chip mani/reg pedi with nail art is what I pay for a regular mani/pedi at the non-quick spot nail sa Cons: 1. The shop could be updated. How have I never managed to review Jasmin's. I met Jasmin over a decade ago. Someone else was doing my eyebrows at that time but she left the business to pursue her medical career. Oh poor me! Who will do my eyebrows now?! See threading is not new for me. I've been doing this for almost 20 years and I'm really anal about who touches my brows. As a former Northsider, my woman was on Thouhy. But when you move wayyy south, going to the border of Evanston is not always feasible. Then my south side person leaves me. How dare she want to start a medical career! I went to Chicago for a concert and I needed to get a toe polish change, and a brow wax and I didn't know where to go. I found Jasmine's place, I was greeted warmly by Jasmine. Jasmine was working alone and was quite efficient with answering phones, doing services, and greeting clients seamlessly. I was in and out in less than 45 minutes without an appointment. I asked for an acrylic fill in. Took an hour and a half and the tech didn't finish my nails. I'd never gotten gel before so when she started applying gel instead of acrylic I figured it was some new fangled method. When she brought out the UV light I realized what happened but it was too late. 90 minutes in I realize she's only on my 7th nail and now I'm agitated. 30 dollars for an uneven job and I wasn't able to get them polished due to time. So I finally got my eyebrows done. First off, I'm TERRIFIED of anyone touching my eyebrows. I've had the experience of too small of eyebrows and they took so much off and burned my skin that hair wasn't growing. But jasmin is so sweet and I've seen reviews of happy outcomes and since she waxes my whole body, I decided to give it a go. I asked her what she thought and she didn't touch them...she said come back in 2 weeks and do not pluck a hair. Perfect! I came back she shaped them and for real they are growing in beautifully!! Went to this shop on Saturday afternoon. Although the young lady was very nice, my no chip was terrible. I recently moved to the Hyde Park area and was in need of a new nail salon. I regularly would go to West Loop nails, but was wanting to find something more local since i moved. Although this is a very small shop (only two pedicure and two nail stations) I decided to try them anyway. 3 days later. I have already lost one complete nail. The no chip came off completely. The rest of the nails are raising up as if they are about to chip. I had great expectations for this shop given the reviews. This is the worst no chip I've ever had. read more

Purchased brow service, pedicure and manicure, Jasmine the owner is rude. Services are fairly priced but not worth the attitude. She spends too much of her time with personal conversations and visitors, while paying clients are waiting. The nail technician currently on duty is inexperienced and simply do not understand that a request for (3) coats of nail polish is not an unreasonable request for a pedi. To mention that she's uncomfortable with (3) coats of polish is preposterous. The cleaning of the cuticle were mediocre and nail polishing was shabby. read more

I got married July 13th and I went in to get wax, pedicure, and eyebrows done, and the service was okay. Today (a month later) I went to took off the polish cause my toe felt numb and I see fungus . I am a license cosmetologist, so When I saw the pedicure tubs I knew better because the pipes harbor bacteria if you don't sanitize them ever night in the whirlpool tubs. I assume the place was clean cause of the outward appearance. Now as a nail technician myself when I finally allow someone to do my pedi....... I was a walk in for a Pedicure, the lady didn't want to take me but her boss (Jasmine, who was super nice) convinced her. It was the worst pedicure of my life, she pulled my skin off the side of my nail and it bled! I screamed in pain. She didn't even apologise. Started dripping things on my bloody toe and tried to put my foot back in the dirty used water, which I refused to do, since I was not interested in an infection that day... It hurt for weeks after, and didn't even look good (and they charged in full) The only positive was Jasmine the owner (love women owned businesses) that apologized and said next time she will see me in person, however, I am not planning on returning, too traumatic. I was referred to Jasmine's Spa by a friend after hearing her testimony about how great the nail technician Olivia is and seeing the quality of her manicure. Jasmine's Spa is amazing and Olivia's work is impeccable. I've been getting my nails done there regularly now for almost 6 months and it's a lovely experience everytime. Olivia takes her time to ensure her work is flawless. I rarely have to wait and most of the time, can get a same day appointment! Olivia even came in on Sunday once to do my nails!! I would give this place zero stars if I could, but sadly they do not have that option. First of all, the nail tech was so rude. For the first five minutes, she was just using her phone. She didn't introduce her name or even greet me. The equipment was extremely dirty and obviously used. It wasn't sanitary at all. I could literally see a piece of some other lady's skin on the stained towel she was using for me. Then she started filing the top of my nail down so much, to the point where it became sensitive and was hurting. She didn't prep my nails at all. She was going to put the tips on without fixing my cuticles or applying oil or even cutting my nails. When I mentioned it to her, she said it was just her technique and if I didn't like it, I could leave. I don't recommend this place at all. Come at your own risk. read more

Went for eyebrows threading a few times. She was on the phone for maybe 4/5 times I went. I did try to tell her what I wanted but she seemed to know and did not listen to my opinion or suggestions for what I wanted for my brows. The final result was fine the first few times but after that my brows were made very thin and they were brought down very low due to her removing to many lines of hair from the top length of my whole eye brows! She was very friendly and fortunately my wait was only 5-10 minutes on a Wednesday afternoon. I was really impressed with how clean she kept the process, which is my biggest pet peeve with my regular threader. She washed her hands before and applied a calming gel to my brows after.
