I can't recommend the (beef) pho tai. It is too sugary sweet - too sweet even for Modesto. If you read any of my Vietnamese pho reviews for restaurants across the country, then you'll find I'm sensitive to the sweetness and msg levels in pho. I grew up eating my mom's Vietnamese cooking, which sways more towards the northern style (she was born in the north, but as a child her family moved to south because of the war) which tends to be more savory. I've come to understand than Saigon style food and pho have more sugar than northern styles. Still, the craving for pho can become too strong to ignore sometimes. So I still go out for pho tai on occasion instead of making it myself (a crazy, time-consuming process). But the pho tai here at iPho was extremely sweet. The sugar overwhelmed any nuanced flavor from the broth (meat flavor, bone broth, spices, seasoning). All I could taste was sugary water. My hope was that the grilled pork and rice noodles dish would be good. The pork was sliced into thin pieces, which made it easy to eat. However, I did not like the flavor or cooking method they applied to the pork. I had hoped for grilled pork. This pork tasted like it was stir-fried in a wok with a sweet sauce instead. I was not expected a stir-fry flavor. Traditionally, the pork is grilled on an open flame and retains it's pork flavor. The only redeeming items were the Vietnamese dessert (che) topped with crushed ice and served in a to-go plastic cup with lid and a long plastic spoon and the strawberry smoothie with pearls. They were tasty. I don't mind sugar in the dessert, just please use less of it in the pho. Vietnamese food is supposed to be healthy overall, but when it is overladen with sugar - it is not healthy. read more

First time here, will have to come back to give a better review however this visit was average. Ordered their house special pho size large ( it's a medium) . Pho took 15-20 minutes, taste was average soup was very dark, noodle was mushy, two thin slice of a meat ball (essentially 1/4 of one meatball) .service could be better since many other customer was waiting for their food and other customer waiting to be greeted. The best Pho place in Modesto and surrounding areas. Easily. Shrimp spring rolls were fresh and the peanut sauce was so good. The chicken fried rice was authentic and delicious. The PHO was the BEST. RIP iPho ????-2022 You were my favorite Vietnamese place in the general area, specifically for pho. You struggled through COVID, and we did what we could to help you, ordering every week or so. We thought you had made it through. Tonight, I called in our usual order and an unfamiliar voice was on the phone; he didn't seem to know the menu very well, filling me with a bit of dread. I arrived to see the banner "grand opening, under new management" and I was scared. I asked if it was same people cooking and was told no, they had made 'some changes'....uh oh. Prices were up...but where are they not these days? I get home to feed the family and my fears were founded. Once bountiful, the pho fixin's were few and far between...easily half what they once were. The broth was....meh. Too disappointed to write further. Goodbye iPho. We loved you. I have been coming here for years!! Under new management and it's just awful!! This is the last time we are going here. What a shame too used to be fantastic. Prices are not worth what you get. This is an okay place for pho. It has a pretty good location on Standiford across from Frontier Town Shopping Center. I've only been here once, but it has it's good and bad points. Overall, I would rate the bowl that I had to be average. It wasn't as hot as it should've been when it came out, but in general, the flavor was good. I was pretty disappointed in the potstickers that I ordered as an appetizer. I could tell that they were handmade, which is awesome, but they were fried so much that they were very hard around the edges and kind of inedible. I had to stop eating them because they hurt to chew. The gentleman that helped me, not sure if he was the owner, was extremely friendly. He was very genuinely excited that I was there and I really like that. Most Asian places I go are very cold when it comes to the customer interaction and give off more of a, get in and get out vibe. So it's certainly a plus when they are warm and inviting. The menu was VERY large. So large in fact that I found it a little difficult to look at. Not necessarily a bad thing, but you'll definitely need time to process if you've never been here before. I mean, they offer burgers, fries, and even burritos. The beverage menu was most of the intimidating part. There were several different categories of beverages, like milk tea and smoothies. Each category had a huge list of styles/flavors that you could get. It takes up a whole wall. One thing, I really liked and would consider getting is some of the merch. The customer service we received today was also excellent and the employee who helped us was very informative and knowledgeable about the menu. I came here for a quick Vietnamese sandwich. Unfortunately, I was much disappointed for the quality of an "authentic" Vietnamese sandwich. They are limited to the selection of sandwiches. First time here and I have to say.. way below par. I had the beef pho and it's didn't taste from scratch. It kind of tasted like the pho packet that you just add water to, just very bland. The meat was too tough to chew, the cilantro was old, there was no Thai basil, or soy sauce. The takeout was delicious and so considerately packed! They put generous helpings of all the works for pho orders (the noodles, meat, bean sprouts, lime, jalapeños, etc) inside boxes and put the broth in separate containers so everything is fresh when you get home. The broth is even secured with plastic wrap and a rubber band on top of the lid. The shrimp spring rolls were tasty, too. We also enjoyed the avocado and lychee smoothies, the second of which was so satisfyingly sweet! First time trying out iPho and I am hooked. On the way to Get a car wash and I so happened to finally make the stop and here and it was perfect. Greeted immediately when I walked in the door and sat within seconds. The menu isn't your traditional Vietnamese restaurant menu, Everything is in English for ease of ordering. I asked the young lady helping if #30 was pho ga and she's graciously gave me a smile and was like yea, that page had your typical top 5-10 pho options. So i had the Pork spring rolls, #30 chicken noodle soup with rice noodles and a Thai tea. Everything came out very fast as it usually does at a pho spot and it definitely hit the spot. I will definitely be returning with friends. The young lady was very nice and was the only one serving about 10 people when I visited.
