It's was good the food was amazing but the customer service is very bad and very rude I will never came back
Natasha1985 Z.

Food was good. Everything was good. Bathroom is good service. It was terrible there was a young guy that works there. Focus a lot on his phone and when we ask for a extra lemon, he came back with an attitude saying that it's gonna charge extra and we never requested for the other things we requested just for lemon. And then he went back his approach is very bad with the attitude

We were in Modesto as we had to take our dog to the vet, and it has been a hot minute (almost 2 years) since we have eaten at Viet Noodles Express. Back in the day it was my favorite Vietnamese place whenever I went to Modesto, and I was curious to see how the food/quality was this time around. I was quite happy that everything was as I remembered! My husband went with the special combination vermicelli bowl, while I decided to try the BBH. I have still been on a BBH streak and from what I saw in terms of other Yelpers' photos, it looked pretty good. I also ordered a Thai tea since I haven't had one in a bit. The Thai tea was the perfect strength yet still creamy. VNX is not a big restaurant, but I like the open seating and it is a nice quiet place to enjoy a meal. The service is attentive and our waters were filled regularly. My husband's vermicelli bowl arrived first, and my BBH arrived shortly after. I asked for shrimp paste on the side, which was given to me quickly. Before adding the shrimp paste, I tried the broth, and it was delicious. For the price point of $14 I did not expect (or receive) a pork hock. This was fine. The amount of meat and cha that I received was ample enough, and there were plenty of noodles as well. The texture of the noodles was good, and so slurpable. The bean sprouts and cabbage were fresh. After adding my shrimp paste, the broth was even more elevated. It was a satisfying bowl of BBH, especially when a good bowl of BBH in the valley is few and far between (and not everyone can make the drive up to Sacramento.) My husband also enjoyed his vermicelli bowl and stated that the various meats were well-charred and flavorful. The egg roll was also very crispy and crunchy, just how he liked it. I really liked that even though everything else has gone up in price, the food at VNX has stayed consistently affordable. Even the banh mi were quite cheap (I did not end up ordering any, but I definitely thought about it). I'm happy that I was able to stop at VNX during our visit to Modesto, and would highly recommend trying their dishes out if you are in the mood for Vietnamese food! PS: they even had roast duck hanging by the counter which looked really juicy and crispy.

Ambiance exactly what you'd expect. Service fine. Food was truly fantastic! Will definitely come back even tho it's 1 1/2 hrs away. Duck was so flavorful & juicy. Salt & Pepper shrimp wasn't very crispy & could've used some garlic but still good. Both rolls were exactly what you'd expect. Tho I like mint in my spring rolls so that would be a really nice addition. You must come here!

Once upon a time, I lived in Oregon and I worked next door to one of The Most Amazing Vietnamese sandwich joints I've ever encountered. Not a single working day went by that I didn't stop in for some sort of treat--iced coffee and spring rolls and dozens upon dozens of Bánh mì. Their classic offering was absolutely phenomenal. Just absolute an absolute rockstar of the classic Vietnamese sandwich. I'd almost given up on finding a dank one here in the valley; even though I apparently live around the corner from the best one in California. Thank goodness I found myself at VNX late this morning! I grabbed two of the BM1's and cannot gush about that sandwich enough. The pâté alone is so dang flavorful that it's only been a few hours and I'm already ready for my next visit. Can't wait to try other menu offerings as well! Lastly, the space is very neat and tidy and hospitable for those waiting for to-go-orders. Service is polite and very prompt! Will definitely come back!

I would have rated this establishment 5 stars but their pork egg rolls are a fail. I have ordered them in the past and they were delicious. But yesterday I ordered two orders and they had close to no pork. They tasted plain so I opened one up to see what was in it and it was mostly cabbage and shredded carrots. One had a thin hair like piece of pork. Very disappointing, so they became a snack for my chickens because the cats didn't want them either. Will definitely not be ordering that appetizer again from this establishment. Other than that their house chow mein is tasty when they include the shrimp which was also missing from my order. Not sure why they skimping the items so hard. I paid over 60 bucks for dinner that was lacking proteins. So that brings their rating to 3 stars.

BUN5. Vermicelli Grilled Pork and Egg Roll Bowl

This place was poppin, lots of takeout orders! The bun noodle bowl is pretty good. The pickled veggies had a nice amount of sweetness. I do wish it had some more herbs like mint and cilantro! Overall a good experience.

Third time coming here today (1/24/26) and the first two times were great experiences. We love the food, service is adequate and menu prices are reasonable. However, my concern is for their charging methods. Our total with tax was $30 (on POS screen before paying), for 2 bowls of pho, 2 waters and an order of spring rolls. After we swiped our card, we checked the receipt after expecting to see the $30 total, BUT the receipt said grand total of $39! Where did the $9 charge come from??? We always do cash tip so we know it wasn't a voluntary card tip. Our receipt says TWO "tip" charges .. one is 10% and another "tip" 18%! They basically helped themselves to charging a 28% "tip" from our $30 total = $39. DO NOT LEAVE RESTAURANT WITHOUT CHECKING RECEIPT!! SCAM AND THEFT

First time here and let me just say we were NOT disappointed! The beef & meatball pho my son ordered was delicious the broth was perfect it didn't need any tweaking. Bun#10 was the first time I've tried this meal & it was also very delicious & flavorful. My daughter wanted spicy wings with sticky rice but they only had regular white rice which was fine. We will definitely be back. So many different entrees ro chose from! The waitress was sweet & attentive. Enjoy!

I have been here one time before but years ago when they first opened. I decided to go here for lunch one cold afternoon with a friend because I was craving a banh mi, I'm so glad I did. We both got a banh mi for lunch. I felt like the service was quick, and the food was really good, very affordable. They have adequate seating, if you decide to dine in. Next time I go, I'll try something else I'm sure.

This was delicious I can't remember what it's called

Food came out quickly, especially for considering that every table was full in that place. I ordered the vermicelli bowl #20 with shrimp pork and chicken. I enjoyed the pork the most, there wasn't much chicken, but there was a lot of lettuce. I added all of the sauce given for my noodles, but even after that they still tasted dry. I really wish it was better, but it was just ok food.

I heard about this place for a long time and we happened to be in Modesto just down the road, so…read morewe stopped by for dinner. This place is really tiny. The bottom level had some tables that were put together to make a large table and maybe 3 other tables. They asked if we wanted to sit upstairs and I said it was fine and up there there was about four tables. I was ready to give this place 5 stars, but I did take a star off first service. When we were sat and asked what we wanted to drink and I started with my drink first and then I ordered for my daughters, the waitress asked me again what I wanted and I was confused. I told her again and then she went on her way. When it came to ordering, I asked for the chicken wing appetizer, pork chow fun and a large #1 pho with two small bowls, so that we could share. After I ordered, she asked me what size pho I wanted. Our drinks arrived, but my 10-year-olds drink was a lot larger than the other drinks we had ordered, which we weren't expecting. The chicken wings came first. We ordered them mild and I will tell you, those were some of the best chicken wings I've ever had...the sauce is sweet, the wings are crisp, but still moist. Definitely will go back and try this in a medium level. The pork chow fun looked a little bit different than what I was used to, but it tasted pretty good. It came with cabbage, broccoli, cilantro and a few other vegetables. The pho came out and the broth smelled really good and I started adding my sauces, but then realize that we did not receive a plate with any of the vegetables. Being seated upstairs, it's really hard to get the attention of your server who is downstairs. When she finally came upstairs, I told her we did not receive any of the vegetables and she went down and brought us a plate that had 3 slices of jalapeno, a pile of bean sprouts and one lime for the 3 of us. No basil whatsoever. At that point I didn't want to ask for anything else, so I let it go. A different server came upstairs and told us to take our time and had placed the bill on the table and I asked for some to go containers, she brought it promptly and then the other server had come and asked if we needed boxes when the boxes and the bag were already sitting on the corner of the table. We will definitely go back in give it another go and hopefully the service is a little bit better because I would love to give this place a 5 star review.

I write this knowing you only have a couple weeks left to enjoy…read more The ramen here is incredible. You would be hard pressed to find better tasting food prepared by a more passionate person. Everything was fresh, everything was delicious, everything exceeded our expectations. This felt like a bay area experience right up the street. I never was interested in going there for years since it's been there but decided to try it tonight. Firstly, the ramen place holds maybe 40 at most and we had to wait a while before we were seated. They asked if we had a reservation but didn't think that it would be needed since it's not like a fancy restaurant and I don't know many ramen places that takes reservations. Since we didn't , we got seated on the bar which is fine. For it being in Modesto, they try to get the anime vibe with toys and anime art around. I'm no ramen expert but I've tried over a dozen ramen places in Tokyo, Vancouver, Japan town in LA, San Francisco, Oahu, Seattle just to name a few cities. So we got first the spicy garlic edamame. Not bad at all, had a kick to it and was edible. From a scale of 1 to 5. I'd give it a 5. For the main entree, I wanted the garlic tonkatsu but the waitress said they ran out.... Ok, for a Saturday night at 6 pm, running out of a ramen and they've been in business for several years now?!? never had that happen before in any ramen shop I've been to. So me and my wife both got the Ichiraku ramen which was a miso broth with pork belly. Price $23. I added 2 more pork belly at $5 more. Oh, the waitress mentioned no bamboo shoots and no fish cake........ ok, never had that happen before in a ramen shop. So while eating edamame, I kept track of how long it took we got our ramen.... It took 30 minutes before we got our ramen... definitely atypical to wait that long wait but I guess it's because they offer a lot of items besides ramen. Presentation was fine, the pork belly was seared on one side with a blow torch since I can taste that searing. . It just had green onions, 2 seaweeds and 2 soft boiled eggs which I was impressed the yolk wasn't overcooked. The noodles I chose was thin and was good with a soft texture. The miso broth was average Over all, it was an okay ramen. Me and my wife both didn't finish our bowls... definitely unusual since we love ramen but somehow, it didn't fulfill our satiety to finish and be content. I can tell you that of all the ramen places I've been to. This is average and doesn't compare to Ramen 101 in Modesto that I've ordered many times before my first time here. Sadly, I can only give it 3 stars because the ramen was average and not in the same league as other ramens I've had in other places and cities. And if me and my wife couldn't finish our ramen, that's a tell tale sign it was just okay. Plus, the place is called Konfucius Eats, doesn't have a Japanese name for a restaurant since "Confucius " is a Chinese Philosopher lol. In fact, I didn't see any Japanese or Asian cooks... just saying that's atypical to the other ramen establishments I've been to. For Modesto, it's aight. I just can't see myself going back here for a long time. Lastly, they are open Tuesday to Saturday only .
