We are so freaking happy with our experience hiring lifeguards for parties through Happy Swimmers. We had our first kid pool party when our daughter turned 6 and again yesterday when she turned 8. At the first party the lifeguard (I'm forgetting her name) had to rescue one little girl who got caught underwater. Yesterday at the 8 year old party, Vanessa was EXCELLENT. Prompt, kind, professional and watched over (13) 5-10 year olds for 3 hours. It would have made me crazy but she was amazing. I can't overstate how happy we are with Happy Swimmers. After a traumatic experience in a group lesson thru a well-respected swim club, and trying a different club with group lessons, I realized that my 5yo daughter would do best with one-on-one instruction. I decided on Happy Swimmers because of their teaching philosophy, the experience of their teachers, and the price. I couldn't be happier. We were matched with Christina and my daughter responded to her immediately. She has an incredible ability of pushing my daughter slightly outside of her comfort zone and she was able to swim halfway across the pool on her own by the SECOND lesson. This was the same 5yo girl who, just a week prior, refused to do the kickboard with the instructor holding on. It was incredible. My daughter now loves to swim, and I really cannot thank Christina and Happy Swimmers enough. read more

The problem is that this isn't a local company and their San Diego customers are better served if Happy Swimmers simply didn't overextend themselves outside of their LA/Orange region. I can't speak for other regions bc I only spoke with two regional employees based in Orange County. In theory, everything seems fine and the website is clear. Requesting a lifeguard was simple bc it's a prepaid service. However, despite booking a month in advance, I never got a confirmation that a lifeguard was available. I ended up hiring a local competitor the same week as my event. Also, I'm not sure whether their credit card processing is actually secure, so there is that very real & serious caveat. The same day I prepaid, I received an automated email to check the Google Calendar for "LG's Assigned Nationwide". I was horrified to find that every single client's lifeguard booking is on this Google calendar! Meaning, every client's full name, home address, cross streets, email addresses, telephone & cell #s. I've told people at the company about this, but the data remains accessible. Essentially, a client's entire application is posted online for anyone to see. This is a serious breach of privacy. Not only are there full details of clients in very upscale California neighborhoods like Santa Monica, Irvine, Beverly Hills, Del Mar, etc., but also clients nationwide in Texas, New York and the Washington DC area (Bethesda). I notified the company that I was sent this private info; however, nothing's been done to remedy the issue to date. I'd actually give the company 3-stars if 1) it stopped emailing private info about other clients; and 2) could make their confirmations at least a week in advance, especially since their services are prepaid at the time of booking. read more

At first, they gave us the wrong information for the gym but our lifeguard trainer Rebecca let me and the other girls in to practice with the rest of the team eventho we were an hour late. She continued to let us stay through the whole class and was really encouraging, extremely patient and helpful! She is an amazing lifeguard trainer and will guide you until you understand the different rescues!! read more

I have used Happy Swimmers three times now for their private lifeguard service, and am booked for a fourth. (I have never used them for swim lessons.) We have a large pool in our backyard and our pool parties always have lots of young kids in attendance. Having a lifeguard on deck gives all the parents peace of mind, and allows us to also enjoy the party instead of having to watch our kids like hawks. The lifeguards have all been very professional, although I must say so far (thankfully!!!) there has not been a "rescue," so I can't really speak to that aspect of it. One of my parties was a pre-school end-of-year party for which I got two lifeguards. The lifeguards met each other for the first time at my party, which was a little odd, but I think they worked it out just fine, and they did a great job with the kids. For all of the parties where I've had lifeguards from Happy Swimmers, the other parents at the party are all very appreciative and are always asking me how I found them, and how they can get lifeguards for their parties too. We hired Happy swimmers for a private lifeguard for our kid's preschool pool party. Our guard was Leonard Oshiro and he did a fantastic job! He was very professional and never turned his eyes from the pool. He even had to jump in to make sure one girl was okay when she was in between two rafts. Would definitely hire him again! read more

I booked a lifeguard for my daughter's 7th birthday and paid on line in advance. I received no information until I reached out to ensure there was a guard available. I was told that there was a lifeguard available but would require additional travel funds. I agreed to pay the extra money for travel and asked that the company book this lifeguard, while continuing to look for someone closer to my area. Two weeks before the party, I had not heard anything. I reached out again because I did not see our party booked on their published calendar. I was told "As of today I still am unable to secure an available lifeguard for your event. I will keep trying and will reach out to lifeguards individually to see if a guard's schedule may change and we have a few new hires that are coming online that I need to check with. Given that your event is within a few weeks away and I understand you wanting to confirm a lifeguard in advance I suggest you explore all you other options for lifeguarding outside of Happy Swimmers. If you find one before me just please contact me so I can cancel your order and issue you a refund. I will contact you asap if I find a guard for you. Regards, Christine Sanders." I could not believe they were now saying they had no one for my party, that they essentially told me to go find someone else AND that they would never have even contacted me to let me know.
