I wish there were lessons all year round! The kids would be okay with winter swimming in ice cold water just as long as Miss Teri is their teacher! She's the most effective and caring swim teacher you can find. My 9 year old has been going to her for years and my 5 year old just started this year. We've gone through countless swim schools in the Chula Vista, El Cajon, and rancho San Diego area.. even tried private lessons there. They weren't nearly effective as Miss Teri. If you want someone who actually cares about your child and produces results, she's the one to go to! read more

My son is 3.5 years old, he was afraid of swimming as he had a previous experience that wasn't to his liking at all. But after just one session with Miss Teri, he has been able to enjoy it! Now after 6 sessions he's doing AMAZING, putting his head underwater, holding his breath, floating on his back, jumping in from outside the pool and swimming to the steps, etc he's like a whole new kid in the water! Miss Teri is one of those rare souls that wants to take care of other people's children! Let's be real, most of us only really like our own kids and even that's a challenge during the particularly bratty toddler years. But, I digress. Back to Miss Teri. She has a passion teaching swim and is a perfect educator - kind, disciplines appropriately and kindly (gentle but firm guidance like 'please stop splashing') and her students love her. Her prices are extremely fair and her business (based out of her home) is clean, beautiful and has awesome views for spectators. She helped our daughter comfortably put her face in the water and after just one session we have seen incredible improvement with her comfort in the water. One note: for spectators it gets HOTTT! There's an arbor but it's slatted, so the sun comes through. Bring your sunglasses, maybe one of those neck towels to keep you cool. Another note: Miss Teri recommends calling her around Easter to schedule swim. Otherwise she books up fast. read more

Miss Teri is an exceptional swim instructor! My 5 year old grandson did NOT want to get out of the car to go to swim lessons. Though he likes being in the water - with floating aids on - he does not like getting his face in the water. Miss Teri was so patient with him. I think it helped that there were 2 other boys in the lesson, where my grandson could see the willingness to blow bubbles, grab a ring underwater, and just try. I found Miss Teri on Yelp and chose her because of her high marks! Miss Teri was so gentle and caring with our grandson! A young man of 6 years and lacking confidence in the water. She worked with him patiently and encouraged him the entire time! By lesson number 3, my grandson did not want to get out of the water and had confidence to jump unassisted into the pool! He will be going back next summer to join a group class setting to learn more things about swimming and water safety! I can't say enough good things about Miss Teri! This is our 5 year old son's first time with Miss Teri this summer and I am very impressed how she teaches the students almost everything about swimming like safety, emergency, survival floating and most of the swimming techniques, etc. Our son quickly learned how to swim and enjoyed all the classes he had with her. My son started with Miss Teri when he was 3 and we've completed 2 summers with her. He loved the water and was used to playing around in our pool. She sets up the classes 3 students of similar age to her. We loved the small class size. Miss Teri does an amazing job teaching to all skill levels. She spoke to the kids about safety every lesson and was a whiz at managing fear of the water. One child was very afraid of the water, by the end of the 2 week session of she was enjoying the water. After our first summer our son was able to float, hold his breath well under water and use his legs to get around. He no longer wanted to wear his floaties. After our second summer we could actually say he was swimming! He was using his arms more and swimming half the length of her/our pool. I highly recommend Miss Teri and we look forward to our next session. read more

Miss Teri is an amazing swimming teacher, I took my two kids in different swimming classes before, but I never saw an improvement on them, when I took them to Miss Teri, I noticed an improvement on them in swimming right away. My 8 year old son use to have a fear of swimming. When he started going to her classes, he was much better and he's not afraid of swimming anymore. Teri is amazing! My 3 year old son did not want to even leave the step and would scream like a banshee when we made him. Teri was very patient and encouraging with him in his private lessons. The following summer, he was still hesitant in small group lessons (3 children in the group, including my son) but Teri was very good with him! We will be back every summer!!! read more

I cannot say enough about Miss Teri and her swim school. I have a 9 year old who she taught to swim correctly at age 3-4 and now is teaching my 3 year old daughter. I wasted a lot of time and money on organized swim classes at different facilities for my son when he was little... I found Teri through a good friend whose son and daughter both learned to swim at her swim school. My son was swimming by week 3... Each child is different, he did have some previous lessons. He loved her and was so calm and comfortable because of her gentle yet professional mannerism. My daughter is now learning from her and she is on her 3rd week and swimming with her head under the water during the swim lesson and with confidence. My son, a 13 year old, learned every stroke (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, etc.) and improved on the strokes he already knew.
