    Hot & Spicy Chicken Teriyaki
    Amanda S.

I've spotted Happy Teriyaki throughout the Treasure Valley and always made a mental note about needing to give them a try. I'm not sure if it's the simple yet promising title or the cute lil logo but it appealed to me. So huge shoutout to a good friend who suggested we meet here for lunch. My order was simple - just the Spicy Chicken Teriyaki bowl with brown rice and steamed veggies ($9.95). We didn't wait long at all, and the food came out fresh and HOT. My bowl did benefit from a few drops of Sriracha but other than that I didn't need to modify it at all. The steamed veggies were fresh and salted just right. My brown rice was cooked to perfection. I'm not sure if some establishments miss the key that brown rice definitely takes longer to cook than white rice, it's kind of a given but Happy Teriyaki got it right. The portion sizes are generous too. I wished I ordered a second side of rice to go along with the rest of my chicken that I wanted to save, because near the end I was eating just chicken. I'll definitely return!

Food is good. However the sauce on the left cost $1.50. Pretty ridiculous. If they are going to charge that much, at least fill it up.

I really enjoy this location. I probably go here once or twice a week. The food is always fresh and tasty. I normally get the chicken teriyaki with extra sauce. Lately I've been getting broccoli instead of the other veggies. The rice is always cooked perfectly and the chicken is moist and tasty. Parking: there are plenty of parking with spots large enough for trucks. Food: they have a decent size menu, and would like to try more, but can't get out of my rut of chicken teriyaki. The broccoli is steamed well. The rice is cooked perfectly and the chicken is cooked with the perfect amount of seasoning and moist. Service: always greeted with a smile and quick to help. After dropping off the food, they always check to make sure it's tasting ok. Facility: always clean and tables are cleared/cleaned quickly. I never use the bathroom, so I can't speak to this, but the rest of the restaurant is well maintained.

I have never dealt with such atrocious service & their Sushi was subpar at best & that's being generous. Right out of the gate, it was a total disaster. The waitress brought absolutely nothing to the table--no utensils, no ginger, no wasabi, nothing. You know, the standard basics that literally every other sushi joint on the planet drops off on autopilot? We had to literally request every single item just to physically eat our meal. Then came the food--or whatever you want to call it. I specifically asked if I could swap tuna for yellowtail and asked about getting what I actually liked instead of just settling for "chef's choice." They completely ignored me & brought the exact opposite of what I ordered. Nothing we got was correct. My guest ordered a lobster and fish roll, and they handed her a plate of literal, unidentifiable mush. There were no actual pieces of fish or lobster to be found anywhere in it. Just mush. And the scam they pulled with the ikura was unbelievable. I ordered two portions, which is supposed to be four pieces total, which again is commonly standard at any other Sushi restaurant. Instead, they brought out two pieces. When I pointed it out, the manager actually came over to our table to argue with me, insisting I was going to be charged full price for half the food. Literally $5ea for 1 piece of Sashimi that tasted like shit. Outside of the painfully incompetent service and the manager's garbage attitude, the fish had no flavor, They didn't even bring out all the food we ordered, but we were so fed up and disgusted by that point that we just paid the bill and walked out. I don't know if this is how they run their business every single day, but it was bad enough to warrant this warning. There are plenty of incredible sushi spots around here. Do not waste your time or your money at this absolute trainwreck of a restaurant. I guarantee I will never step foot in this place again.

I come here several times per year because I love the vibe, chefs, service and food. Reservations are a must if you want timely seating and less wait...and ensure your entire party is with you prior to your reservation time. My most recent visit was to celebrate my birthday, though I didn't tell them that for fear of the extra attention. I know some people love that, but it's not my thing. Our service was incredible from start to finish...prompt and expertly timed food drop-off, pick-up and drink refills. We started with the Gyoza. The Gyoza was fresh, hearty and steamed with those amazing crispy brown seams. The sauce was delicious as well. Those were gone in maybe 3 minutes. Next came the miso soup, which was a slightly seasoned broth soup. A nice compliment to the salad, drizzled with a thousand island-like dressing and crisp lettuce. Next our hibachi chef Herman appeared with our cart full of meats, veggies and eggs. He crafted the most fun, hilarious and DELICIOUS meal I've ever had there. I ordered the chicken and shrimp, hubby had the chicken and filet. The steak was cooked medium rare and nicely seasoned. Each piece of chicken or shrimp was seasoned, sauced and buttered to perfectly plump. The fried rice was delicious! Literally, every bite of rice, meat and veggies just sang. We couldn't stop raving about our experience and I was actually sad to see Herman leave instead of sitting down to join us.

Also, you can take leftovers, but you will be charged for extra. $6.99 if you want to take your soup home and then they price anything extra, like from the bar, on how much you get.
