Before Glory Sushi moved in, this spot was Kingfisher -- which was honestly one of our longtime local Eagle favorites. So I think a lot of us came in wondering if it would hold up. And honestly? We keep coming back. I know everyone compares it to Ahi because there really aren't that many sushi places in Eagle, but they fill different moods for us. Ahi feels more like somewhere you go for a quieter dinner or work conversation. Glory is where we go when we want an easy 45-minute lunch without making it a whole event. Their lunch bento boxes are super affordable, portions are solid, and we've never had trouble getting seated quickly. It's casual, low-pressure, and easy to pop into in the middle of the day. No long wait, no complicated parking situation, no "do we need a reservation?" discussion. We've gone quite a few times now and it's become one of those reliable local spots when you just want a quick sushi lunch that doesn't destroy your budget. For Eagle especially, that alone makes it worth supporting. read more

Kingfisher has PERMANENTLY CLOSED as of February 18, 2025. See the owner's posting below. It has been sold and the new owners will operate at the same location but it is a different business name and owner. It is going to be called Glory Sushi at the current location and they may or may not use the previous owner's recipes and techniques. Glory Sushi has a website and you can check it there. I think this is unfortunate news because until the original owner the sushi quality was top notch, he was sometimes the sushi chef in the tucked away kitchen, and he was responsive to owners. Plus the service was friendly as one enjoys at a family in front of house business as here. Sometime in 2024 this same owner took over a failing taco spot space in Boise and opened another eatery called Nanzaya where he was offering sushi and a few Burmese items on a menu in progress. I haven't been in there yet but I will go now as the family members working at Kingfisher are headed there to work now with Kingfisher closed. Here is the owner's Closing Notice: "It is with great sorrow that we inform our amazing loyal customers, Kingfisher Sushi has closed permanently. My wife and I have been visiting different Sushi places around the valley for some time. Our new thing is to try out a different place each week (Sushi Wednesday, we say!). Well all I have to say is that it is going to be very hard to want to try a different place after eating at Kingfisher. We ordered the Spicy Rainbow Roll, the Sweet and Spicy Roll, and the Red Dragon. Also, it is our tradition to get two pieces of Tuna Nigiri as our starter. Let me just sum it up with one word: OMG (Oh Man this is Good!) All three of the rolls were delicious. The service was excellent! In fact, the chef treated us very well in working to make sure they made the rolls to our liking. I have condition where I can't eat cucumbers (burp), but they graciously made appropriate substitutions/changes to the rolls to avoid those demon vegetables for me. The setting is nice, and quiet, with soft and fun music playing. We didn't see a big sign outside at first, but then noticed the "Kingfisher" decals on the windows. If you can't find it at first, just keep looking, it will be worth it! read more

Dare I say the best sushi around? Food: 5/5. We shared the fish lover favorite. I am not a huge fish lover, but this platter was delicious and the best fish and sushi in the area. Every bite was perfection and tasted very fresh. Service: 5/5. The host/waiter was very kind and attentive. We got our food in a timely manner. Atmosphere: 4/5. The location is interesting in between the Happy Teriyaki and Roost gift shop. It was hard to find and is lacking signage. The inside is very bare bones but clean. My wife and I tried Kingfisher today for the first time based on the reviews. Located off Eagle on Rivershore Dr., opposite Riverside Dr., it took us a few minutes to find it. It is located next to Happy Teriyaki but the signage is so minimal. There is a small sign on the door, otherwise I did not see any other. As has been detailed by other reviewers, it is a small restaurant, with only a handful of basic wooden tables inside and two half picnic tables outside. Very plain decor, no ambience. Fortunately, we are retired and came on a Friday shortly after they opened at 11. There was only one other couple dining in, and a lone man came a little later. We were helped by a nice young Caucasian man who provided good service. The only thing was, he clarified both my order and my wife's, but still made a mistake on one of her sushi rolls, though he realized right when he brought it out and returned with the right order fairly quickly. The first thing I appreciated was the prices. I ordered a rainbow roll for $12 and a spicy tuna roll (10 piece) for $8. That is very reasonable! My wife ordered a crunchy roll and another roll. We thought the rolls were very good and high quality. Kingfisher gets great reviews on both Yelp and Google. For now, this is our go-to sushi spot (we are new to the Treasure Valley and still exploring). read more

This adorable little hole in the wall helped us find a new favorite sushi restaurant close to our home. We first ordered the combo B that had a spicy tuna roll, rainbow roll with yellowtail, spicy salmon roll, and crunchy crab roll (5 pieces of each). Along with that, we got the mango roll, black dragon roll, and crunchy dynamite roll. The fish was fresh and rolls were light. My son and I stopped in here for the first time on our way home for a late lunch. It's extremely difficult to find because there is no sign in the front so you have to locate it by address. Right off I want to say that the food was fantastic, presentation and flavor. I will summarize by saying that the restaurant itself does not appear to be maintained very well. Lightbulbs burned out and walls showing signs of grime buildup. The biggest problem I had was the sushi chef with his personal cell phone in his hand with work gloves on, on the food prep tables. He did set his phone down on the food prep table to change his gloves, but we all know that we take our phones everywhere with us and that includes the bathroom. I could not get over how unsanitary the kitchen was just knowing that this person was on the phone the entire time while making our food. I ordered a sweet and spicy roll, a crunchy, dynamite roll, and a black dragon roll. All three were delicious. The ginger was of low-grade and chewy, very vinegary. Wasabi had great flavor. We were served with chopsticks and a napkin with our meal. I cannot recommend this restaurant simply because the hygiene was extremely poor. I even mentioned it to the employee and that did not seem to matter to them. The chef had his phone on speaker the entire time while in the kitchen. It's really disgusting. Not the strangest dining experience I've ever experienced- but close. I would definitely return- and update my review if it was just a one off weird day- the four bites of food i had (ganken (sp) style spicy tuna- like mini hand rolls- were delicious and the price seemed reasonable. first off this is the second time i tried to eat here- first time i never found it. tucked between The Roost and a teriyaki place- they have NO SIGN. i heard the waiter say they had been open about a year and were already so busy they didn't want to have more people coming. ummm, what???? Spend the $100 and get a one word vinyl sign so your customers don't drive 10 miles to not find the place. it was busy-about one pm- all tables but one filled and people eating outside- had to ask after 25 minutes if i could get the drink i ordered. waiter asked me what i ordered. waiter is standing at the counter while a room full of people were waiting for their food. i can only imagine how hard the poor cook was scrambling while this guy was standing around. waited another 30 minutes for one roll and two small hand roll like pieces showed up. i ate two pieces of the roll and realized they gave me the wrong roll. i told the waiter and he said "the cook is getting used to the new menu" there was an old menu? i eat the small bites- very tasty and super fresh. i wait another 15 minutes (with the un eaten roll at the other side of the table- i see who i think is the cook walk out of the building- when the waiter said he would meet me at the cashier stand when i was ready to pay. he was genuinely confused when i said i wanted the roll i actually ordered. the place is now empty- just me. no new roll is forthcoming so i ask to pay for the bits i ate and my drink. i tipped the waiter because he was friendly- and i don't think it was his fault he was there by himself with a big lunch crowd. someday when i feel like driving 10 miles -i will give it a third try. or not. read more

This is a small hidden gem. The food was delicious. I had the salmon poke bowl, miso soup and salmon sashimi. The miso soup had really good flavor. My only comment on it was that I miss the seaweed- this one had lettuce in it. Since it's a new place the furnishings were very sparse and you could hear every little clink. I spoke to the owner briefly who was taking a break and he told me they were going to make changes soon to the seating and such. I imagine it will be quite busy once the word spreads and the little decor and seating issues are finalized. Looking forward to coming back and trying other things. read more
