Was really needing a sushi fix. Didn't have any referrals for good places so took a chance. Spicy edamame- 1 and done. Way too spicy for us. Yellowtail and salmon sushi - OK. Boise spring roll, capital roll, house smokey tempura, spider roll, and spicy dragon roll were all OK but bordered on bland. When we finished, we agreed that everything blended together. I would say this to be a go to place. The food quality is there. Flavor everywhere , food presentation and most of all, the ratio of food portion to price is spot on. Lots and lots on the menu, that could be concerning but it works! We ordered rolls, sashimi, various appetizers. Popular local place and first time here. Dining room was half full but they are suffering from a staffing shortage. They have a help wanted sign at the front door which showed when dining. Service lacking but apologetic and nice. Gyoza appetizer was ok. Temperature tells me it was freshly fried. Lukewarm. Eastern Dragon Roll. Good sized portion and great presentation. Flavorful with a good mix sauce and fish. Rice wasn't the best but not a deal breaker. Tempura was good and not too greasy. Would dine here again and try other rolls. read more

This is for the Meridian location. The sushi is very good. We've dined there perhaps 8 times. Employees are friendly, service good, comfortable tables, clean, and good atmosphere. Part of dining out though, is to relax enough to enjoy the meal. In that respect, you might say the service is perhaps a bit too good! It's great to have the food served quickly, but then having the waitress come back several times to ask if all is good, have one plate taken when there was a little food left, getting the bill when we're only 3/4 finished....all of that added-up to us feeling rushed. We did eat once at the Boise location, and did not feel rushed at all BTW, so we'll probably drive a little further to get good sushi and friendly service. read more

Arrived about 130, was seated immediately. Quick service and little wait for food to arrive. Ordered salmon teriyaki bento box, chose miso soup over salad. Bento boxes come with main of choice, California roll, rice and 2 eggrolls ( no sauce). Thai tea to drink (no refills, but large, tall glass). Everything was delicious! That tea was perfectly sweetened. Salmon was crisp in the outside and tender/flaky on the inside. Rice was perfect and miso soup was delicious. read more

We were looking for a good sushi restaurant and found this one on yelp. Recently moved back from the Pacific Northwest and I will say some of the sushi in the area is not the standard I was used to. We were a little skeptical since the building last I knew Was a 50 style diner and still appeared that way on the outside. The interior was that you would expect from an upscale sushi restaurant. We started with the Boise spring rolls, which were good. The peanut sauce seemed more like a plum sauce . The shrimp and scallop hibachi was a very large portion and perfectly cooked. The scallops were tender as the shrimp and the vegetables were not overly cooked either . We did think that fried rice was an included option to be served with it, but there is a four dollar up charge for that. I had two pieces of salmon and two pieces of yellowtail sashimi that were amazing. The fish was fresh smooth, buttery, and served a correct temperature with a generous cut. They have a very large menu, however, the lunch specials are not offered on Sunday. Our service was prompt, and the food came out quite quickly. Definitely would recommend and we'll go back and next time we will try the lunch specials. read more

I came here around 7:30 pm last Sunday. I found this place by searching for Japanese restaurants near my hotel. We were able to sit down without waiting. The menu had plenty of options, and we decided to order the unagi don, vegetable udon, and sashimi as an appetizer. The portions were generous, and everything tasted perfect. Usually, I find unagi don a bit too sweet at other places, but here it was just the right level of sweetness, and the unagi was larger than I expected. I highly recommend this dish. The quality for the price is excellent. As for the udon, I really loved it. It had cabbage, broccoli, and I think some onion as well. It wasn't salty or bland; it was perfectly seasoned and creamy, which I enjoyed very much. The sashimi was also very fresh. Even though we went there at night, I could still taste the freshness. The ambiance was clean and pleasant, and the service was excellent. I really loved this place! read more

This is our go to favorite Sushi place to go as a family. The staff is always very friendly and are great with children. They even have special kids chopsticks (pikachu, iron man etc) and let the kids take them home. We have never had anything bad here, whether it's sushi, sashami or cooked dishes. read more

I have never ordered fried rice that has chicken cube which I would prefer every time I side of dry piece of chicken other restaurants service. Came here for dinner on a friend's recommendation and unfortunately did not understand the praises it got. The service was quick as we were seated right away and got all of our orders within 15-20 minutes. We ordered the fried dumplings as an appetizer, two rolls (I cannot remember for the life of me), and deep fried ice cream for dessert. The dumplings were solid. The two rolls we ordered were good, but felt a bit smaller/lacking compared to other sushi restaurants I've been to - especially at the price point. The deep fried ice cream was basically a huge lump of vanilla ice cream with way too much batter and topped with whipped cream and sprinkles. The vanilla ice cream was still pretty frozen despite being deep fried, so we had a hard time spooning out pieces. Towards the end of our meal, we were also waited on by a different server from our original. This caused some confusion since we paid the bill with our second server and left, but were chased down in the parking lot by our first server who thought we didn't pay...An honest mistake by the team there, but pretty unprofessional and looks like they need to work on communication. read more

I would give five stars except for the fruit fly that kept bothering us while we were eating. The service was okay to moderately fine. The atmosphere is unique and semi-classy, with an aire of eclectic decor. I would call it a Chinese/Japanese hybrid menu. A HUGE menu is usually a red flag but they pull it off. They serve a lot of items but man, the food is top quality. I give it a solid four stars for sure. I will definitely go back. It is walking distance from my house! The sushi is very fresh but not as well put together as a sushimaster prepare. This is apprentice-level preparation of high quality ingredients. Worth going to more than once. read more

Came to Fujiama (Meridian location) for lunch today to celebrate my daughter's new job. They have remodeled this building beautifully. It's very pretty on the inside. Boy, the food and portions didn't disappoint. I ordered a bowl of miso, side salad and some sushi. The side salad was a good size portion! The miso was nice and hot with good amounts of nori and tofu! The Cali roll is pretty basic and you can't really mess that up. I did notice some nice acidity to the rice. The inari was great with a good amount of rice in it, it wasn't jammed packed with the sushi rice which was great! The Tamago was a little dry and wasn't the best but that's OK. I cannot give 5 stars because I haven't actually been to the restaurant or interacted with the staff yet, but I have ordered food from them twice...both times sushi hand rolls. What can I say, I love me some good sushi! First, I can't speak to their quality of fish, as I don't know where they source from, even though I checked their website. I will say that it all smelled and tasted fresh. Texture was great. We have had the Linda Roll, which is definitely one of the classics for me, so a favorite (8 piece roll). My husband ordered the Eastern Dragon, which was incredible, but know that it's a 12 piece sushi roll. The "Around the World" is 7 pieces, for whatever reason, but it's definitely one to try. I know the Kiwi sounds weird, but it really ties the flavors together, and I would highly recommend it. It's not as pretty as the others, but the flavor is definitely there! Finding great sushi in Idaho is not an easy task, so coming across this place is a fantastic find for us, and we will continue to eat their yummy rolls. They have a pretty big menu, so lots to choose from. I doubt you can go wrong here. Give it a try! read more

Highly recommend the ones listed. I loved these rolls so much that I saved the selections in the notes app on my phone! This is seriously some of the best sushi I have had in the area. Reasonably priced in comparison to other sushi places in the valley. The place is very nice and staff are super friendly. Servers were very attentive and I noticed that my cup was refilled almost immediately before I was even half way done. Clean environment with interesting decor. The last two times we were at this location, we came in with a group of friends and we found great seating, even when the parking lot seemed packed. The host asked us what to drink after barely putting my ass on the seat as if I know their menu. The cook was staring at me making me uncomfortable. There was someone blowing up the phone that was connected to the music so through out my entire meal I only heard text tones. chicken dumplings were not worth 7 dollars. fish was warm on the sushi. Dark lighting on the inside too. Vibes are of a dark retro diner, but don't let that deter you, the food is good! My picky toddler adored her bento box. That alone will keep us coming back! Great price for the amount of food in the dinner bento for her. The fresh sushi rolls were delicious. The tempura rolls were waaaaay overcooked and dry, I would avoid those at all cost. The fish inside became dry like a mouthful of sawdust. I would also recommend that the waiter repeat your order back to you. My husband and I have been looking for decent sushi places in Idaho, and so far we've only identified two. Now, we can add Fujiyama to that! We do like that they had other options too besides sushi, so we got to try their ramen as well. Nothing is necessarily extraordinary with the sushi and ramen, but they were both decent enough that they'll satiate my sushi or ramen craving. The sushi tasted fresh enough, and had good flavor without too much need for soy sauce. Size is pretty good too for the price. The staff was also friendly and efficient. I don't typically leave reviews but I had to for this place. Service was super quick and attentive. The sushi was great. You can make substitutions to the rolls included in the dinner combos which was fantastic because we're not imitation crab people. I wish I'd remembered to take a photo of the Love boat combo we ordered because it was served on a wooden boat that took up a good portion of table and was very impressive looking. The pickled ginger wasn't the artificially dyed kind which was appreciated. The only thing that could have made it better is of the wasabi was a little spicier but that's personal preference. read more
