The museum is a beautiful old inn with three levels. The first level has a few rooms with interesting artifacts and a video showing a brief history of how Ft. Lauderdale came to be settled. There are some beautiful art pieces from resident artists hanging on the walls of the video room. On the second floor, there are many different rooms showcasing different parts of Ft Lauderdale history; there is a room with information about archeological digs, Seminole and Tequesta history, a case with sports memorabilia from Wayne Huizenga's teams, a room with different military artefacts, among many other interesting details. I appreciated the information about the schools - they featured Fort Lauderdale high school and the founding of Dillard. The third floor is where resident artists work on their next amazing pieces. While we didn't get to visit the other buildings on the grounds, we did walk around the the grounds themselves are along the new river, with gazebos and very nice landscaping. All of the museum workers were very friendly and informative. I would certainly return and bring more friends, we had a great time!

Just today we took the tour and were amazed. My husband and I had a wonderful time! Everything about THIS food tour was 5 stars. Steve was our guide and he is such a nice person, we felt really comfortable asking questions and speaking with him. Also, he is very knowledgeable about Miami and its history. But more than that, he made the tour very personal. The four places we ate at were great. By the end of the tour I was quite satisfied with the range of foods we had tried. I'm also glad that now I have some new places to go to on South Beach that I never would have tried before. I am sworn to secrecy on which places you'll visit, as each tour should be a fun surprise, just as Steve intends it to be. Believe me, you will have an amazing time. The guide was not an engaging guide- very monotone and gave very generic facts. He was very focused on sites/facts related to Scarface- mentioned it at least 5 times. He did not always tell factual information- things Google can tell you otherwise. He gave arbitrary times at each stop- for example he gave 40 minutes at Little Havana, and most of us were waiting on the van for the bus driver. The tour was supposed to be 3 1/2 hours, so it should've ended at 5:30. We got off the van at 6:15 and that's only because someone on our van asked to get off early. Very disappointing. Definitely would not recommend.

The balance between eating, architecture, and good conversation made this a great night in Miami Beach! Danny knew so many people on the street who stopped to speak to him. Sure, most of those people had something to sell and they hoped we would be their customers- but it was a joy to be exposed to it all- a person with parrots for photographs, a man selling peanuts for a dollar, and all the people in all the shops we stopped in . We ate cuban sandwich (amazing!) , guava pastries, empanadas, and churros- it was basically two meals!. Danny also told lots of stories and we learned about the hobby of dominos with a Cuban twist, and the history of the Bay of Pigs. This was not a serious history tour, but it was super fun and I highly recommend it. He pointed out a jazz club on the tour, Ball & Chain- we stopped there for a cuban mojito after the tour and listened to the band. It was a wonderful afternoon.
