I have not had a great experience with Happy Valley "Express" Cleaners. 3 visits later, I won't be back. 2 out of 3 times I stopped to pick up my cleaning within their published hours ( on the door) only to find they closed early or there was a sign ( back soon) on the door. Today I arrived at 3:30 ( published hours open until 4) to find a hand written note on the door they closed at 1:00. As others have mentioned, the quality of both dry cleaning and laundered clothing has been less than good and the price for 4 items was 40% more than the cleaners around the corner. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! The first time I went to this cleaners I asked if they had any coupons. The owner replied," We don't have coupons. We do good job! We are the best!" I was a bit turned off by the attitude but thought I would give them a try even though they charge $.50 more per shirt. The third time I used them they ruined my husband's Jos.A. Bank cuffed shirt that was not very old at all! I have taken shirts to the cleaners for years and never had this happen. When I took the shirt in to show them they said they didn't do it. Service was good, had a comforter set cleaned and it looks brand new and beautiful and I was charged a VERY good price. My only complaint is that it came back with an odd smell that permeated the room. Almost like that overwhelming smell you get when you enter a Goodwill or consignment shop. I had used this dry cleaner for awhile for normal everyday cleaning and had not had a problem...but... DO NOT take anything nice to this cleaners. I had a nice pair of wool pants (tailored) that I took in about 6-7 times. I noticed that they appeared shorter and took them back to Men's Warehouse who said there was no way they would have tailored them that short. Luckily there was enough material left that they could re-hem them back to the original length. They let out about 1 1/2" of material. I took them to the owner of the dry cleaners and showed him how much the tailor had to let out to bring them back their original tailored length. I told him this was the only dry cleaners I had ever brought the pants to and they had shrunk the pants. He denied, denied, denied and then had the gall to say I was confused. Confused about the length of my own pants that I had tailored and wore several times...maybe I grew... Wasn't even asking for any type of reimbursement was just going to be a heads up that they should be more careful with people's clothing. Needless to say I will not be going back there. read more

We went on vacation and when we returned my wife was going through her clothes (still in the dry cleaning plastic) and noticed she was missing one dress. I went in and they said they didn't have it. My wife called and they said they didn't have it. We called again and they were very argumentative saying "you waited 2 weeks to call, look in your closet." HUGE THUMBS DOWN!!! Don't expect anything resembling customer service here! Ruined SIX expensive custom-tailored shirts ($180 each) because they don't have a clue how to pre-treat collars and cuffs. Stains were not removed properly and then were permanently set as they were heat pressed in. The owner was EXTREMELY RUDE, refused to take any responsibility, and his response was "so sue me". Instead of a recommendation I'm now giving him what he deserves---a HUGE PUBLIC THUMBS DOWN. I've been coming to this place since I moved over to this part of town from Scottsdale, which has been 3 years. It is the cleanest dry cleaners I've ever been to. Everything sparkles! I have my husband's custom tailored shirts from Tom James and his wool pants cleaned every week and have never once had a problem. I needed to have the sleeves on a dress altered for a wedding, and I asked Mrs. Choi for a recommendation. She said that she did alterations, and suggested I come back the following morning when she would have some more time to spend with me. I returned the next day wearing my dress and we discussed what I wanted to accomplish with the alterations. I was a bit nervous leaving the dress and was second guessing myself afterwards if I should have gone to a "real tailor." I picked up the dress today, and I'm 100% super happy! If possible I would rate this business facility a negative 10. As the business door and website states hours,on two separate occasions I attempted to drop laundry and the facility was closed. On my third attempt to drop laundry off I phone to be sure the facility was open,the owner was very unfriendly and short. She proceeded to inform me she had a 50% off promotion going on and proceeded to inform me of the cost which was very overpriced. Two days later I call to be sure the facility would be open to swing by for my dry cleaning,I return home and realize majority of my dry cleaning was damaged due to staining that was not present when I left the clothing. Great prices (currently 50% off), and super friendly business. The husband and wife (Mr. and Mrs. Choi) were very friendly and helpful during my first visit. They did a great job, and everything was ready to go when I arrived. So much better than our previous cleaners who 1. expected payment at drop-off and 2. would charge $.50 for debit and credit card transactions. Happy Valley Express Cleaners takes all forms of credit, doesn't charge you extra for using debit/credit, and takes payment at pickup. They're also conveniently located on Happy Valley Road, with plenty of parking, and the ease of dropping off our assigned HVEC purple bag. Made my life a little easier... thank you! read more

I have been coming here for a couple of years and generally it has been OK. However, I recently picked up an order and I discovered after the fact that a pair of pants was missing. I brought the attention of the owner. He took NO responsibility. He said I should go home and look in my closet for the pants. REALLY? I have spent hundreds at this place and have even taken the attitude of the wife and daughters. The owner made no effort to help or try to make it right. VERY RUDE & DISHONEST!!! I took my fiancée shirts & a pair of slacks in & asked what it will cost because this was the first time being at the dry cleaners. This place is ridiculous. I am so tired of the horrible attitude of Mrs. Choi. I have been a customer here for four years and this is the first Yelp review I have ever written for any business. I prefer to not write negative reviews without giving a business a fair chance and talking it out in person. Pretty sure four years is fair. I spend a lot of money on my dry cleaning and I generally don't mind doing so as long as my clothes are property handled. After losing many items over the years at this place and never being compensated, only being told to go home and check my closet, this week hit an all time low. I approached Mrs. Choi to ask her about the filmy residue that I seem to find on my clothing. She was rude, impatient, would not hear me out. She basically turned her back to me rushing me out of the door. All I wanted to know is whether there is some sort of chemical used on the clothing or if there was a more eco-friendly way to have my clothing cleaned. The residue on the clothing is starting to be a major issue for me and I'm concerned that my clothing is shrinking as a result of whatever they use. I've been a size 0 most of my life. Can't get much smaller than that. Pretty noticeable when your clothes are shrinking. If I'm not gaining weight, it must be the dry cleaners. Customers deserve a professional experience and at least the opportunity to have their concerns heard. Happy Valley Cleaners must believe that a couple of reviews won't hurt business enough to change their ways. Customers are disrespected as if this is the only choice we have in dry cleaning options. Well, Mr. & Mrs. Choi, goodbye from a faithful customer. You DO NOT deserve my hard earned money and while I'm sure you clearly do not care about the many negative reviews due to your lack of responses to them- one thing is certain. Sorry CHI, we're from N suburbs Chi & this place is 0 & 2 losing garments. Their approach to correcting the problem is telling the customer to 1) go home & scour your house for the garment you turned in to them & they lost. 2) If someone else has it, let's wait till the weather cools off so they will find it in their closet & bring it back. Are you kidding? Clothes are a commodity- like groceries or gas. We do ok - but we will not donate another item to this business. How do I know we're not the only ones? They sent me home with someone else's garment, I discovered this & drove it back to their shop next day. No reaction, yet they tell me I am the only person this has happened to. The younger woman that works at night is rude and has her music turned up way to loud...if you have small children at the day care, pick your dry cleaning up first since every other word is profanity coming out of the stereo...I'm all about enjoying music, but there is a time and a place. This place is horrible. They can't get there stuff together. At first it was fine for like 1 week I dropped a dress shirt and dress pants off everyday asking for next day service (like they advertise). But now the items I dropped off this week were never found or done. They also charged my card for 4 items instead of the 2 items on the receipt and have not refunded the money. They said since I'm new I have to pay upfront. The girl at the counter says she has told her boss but doesn't have any idea when I will be refunded. Just wanted to share my experience here. Mr and Mrs Choi are the owners. I brought my issue to Mrs Choi yesterday and she was short, curt and rude. My wife had a poor pick up experience with Mrs Choi several weeks ago which we dismissed as Mrs Choi having a bad day. I guess she is always unfriendly in general.Today I came back to deal with Mr Choi and he was better to deal with but would not take responsibility. He offered me a $10 credit and after more customers gathered behind me he offered $20 out of the cash register to make me go away. The item of clothing has an $80 replacement cost. I would have accepted a $40 or $50 credit and he would still have our business. But certainly not now. Happy Valley residents you make the choice -- it's all good until the plant messes up and damages your clothing. Also notice no positive yelp comments in 2012 or 2013. read more

If you have to stop by in the afternoon watch out the afternoon employee She is argumentative, confrontational and just unfriendly. used them for 3 years and then all our clothes started coming back full of static so I said something to the woman who worked there and she said to rub lotion all over my body before i put my clothes on. I asked her if she was crazy why would I do that when I spend 50.00 a week with you. I found out she was the owners daughter and when I went back to pick my clothes up 3 days later she took her laundry bags back and had my dirty clothes in a garbage bag. she said they werent doing my laundry anymore. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DRY CLEANERS! I had been going to this place for 2 years and had been satisfied with their service. However, I measure customer service by how a situation is resolved when it arises. I took in a new J Crew shirt to be laundered. When I picked it up, it had stains. I took it back and they offered to redo the shirt. However, the stain did not come out. I picked up the shirt with the owner/manager on duty. He stated the stain was not removeable. I explained that this shirt was not stained when I brought it in. He refused to accept any responsibility. I told him he was going to lose a good customer. He shrugged his shoulders and said, "that's okay." The owner made no attempt to make the situation right, not even free dry cleaning. I asked him where the sister dry cleaners was. He said 39th Avenue and Pinnacle Peak.....so stay away from this location as well! I will never do business with either dry cleaners ever again. read more

Had been using this establishment for a little over a year. I would have to agree that the wife behind the counter is a tad unfriendly and have to really engage her to even hold a small conversation of "Yes" & "No." Dropped off a dress shirt mid morning to be dry cleaned. I was told it would not be ready until after 4pm the following day. I ask the Mr. Choi if I could pick it up after 2pm. He graciously agreed. I received a call the following morning from Mr. Choi that he forgot to add it to the prior day's run. So he said that it would not be ready at the agreed 2pm time and that it would be ready a day late. He offered, no get this.... To find a similar shirt that was owned by someone else that had already been dry cleaned and he would let me wear it until mine was done. OK So you freely hand out other peoples items to be worn! When I asked him this he mysteriously could not speak English. Told him absolutely not and that I would be in the following day to pick up my shirt. Upon arrival he was overly friendly and spoke perfect English. He retrieved my dress shirt and proceed to charge me the standard $3 bucks. I stated that I felt I should not have to pay as it was not done on time as promised by him. He then sated "we work hard." I said I should receive a discount and he still stated no. When I questioned him about why he offered up someone else's clothes, he suddenly could not understand a word I said and became very closed lipped. $3 bucks certainly did not break me, however the poor service and suggesting that I wear someone else's clothes has left me to consider if I would even do business here again... Um flat out NOPE! If you have ready over my rant and still choose to use this establishment you have been forewarned. read more
