Wish there was a little more pizazz in the vegetable egg roll- kinda bland and meh. The general Tso was just okay, nothing special, there was the little black burned bits on it which means they don't properly clean their wok, meh. Exactly what you would expect plus a bit of Flare. If you go here you will find unique items like beef and chicken dumplings. Other cool combos and specials that I have not tried. I don't often do Chinese food so when I do I am looking for something specific, something nostalgic. I ordered food for delivery on a Friday night and I was NOT impressed. The boneless ribs in my combo were much too gooey and full of fat. I had to toss them in a hot pan and fry them down to make them edible. The fried rice was blah and full of bland frozen vegetables. The shrimp dumplings were almost great but the filling, as tasty as it was, couldn't easily enough be identified as shrimp. read more

It's your standard, average, old-reliable, neighborhood Chinese take-out restaurant! I really like the Happy Wok. Yum. It is everything I want in a Chinese take-out joint. Fast, friendly service, nothing fancy, no frills, bonus free can of soda at the end. Good specials (dinner specials come with fried rice and an egg roll). I like their wonton soup, and have gotten a pint as a lunchtime meal. There is only one small table in case you want to sit down. I've lived next door to this place and ordered from them over the the last 6 years. First, the family that runs it are wonderful people and I love patronizing them. But I wouldn't do it if their pan-fried pork dumplings weren't among the best in the neighborhood. Likewise, the barbecued spare ribs are meaty, flavorful and tender. (By the way, the place is kept spotless!) You have to get to know them a little to know what's worth ordering from the impossibly long menu, but the house special items (chow mien, chow mei fun, fried rice) are all very good; and the beef and broccoli is a special favorite. Really great Chinese food that's affordable and not too greasy. It's close to the Franklin subway stop in Brooklyn, clean, well-lit, with two tables if you want to eat in. The people who work there are very nice, but do not speak English well. Unfortunately during my visit for take-out, my shrimp fried rice container must have gotten switched with someone else's plain white rice, so I ended up with the wrong dinner. Not bad. Pretty much middle of the road to be perfectly honest. If you're hungry and you need to grab something real quick and cheap, Happy Wok is your place. I still have to check out other Chinese food places around the area so I'm not sure exactly how it stacks up. I mean, it is a good amount of food though so you'll be pretty full afterwards. This is a take-out place, so don't expect anything fancy. However, I live around the corner from here and as a vegetarian, I get random cravings for their General Tso's Bean Curd (read: tofu). They always make it when you order it, and it comes with some broccoli. Not too spicy, and I usually take it home and eat it with some Sriracha. I've also gotten their mixed vegetables a few times, and it has a nice assortment of stuff (mushrooms, celery, carrots, baby corn, broccoli, water chestnut). Definitely a solid Chinese take out spot. Do I really want to leave a bad review for a mom and pop place? Unfortunately I feel compelled to. Cheap chinese food is generally tso good in this city. This place is awful. I had the Orange Chicken. The chicken had a generic, sugary, red like sauce pasted on the rather small chicken chunks. It had zero flavor at all and was loaded in salt as I was downing water for hours afterword. The kicker was, you look at the menu on the counter, see a price, and order. Then when you are called up and it is time to pay, you as a courtesy ask how much and the lady makes up a higher price on the spot. You point to the menu and kindly note the discrepancy and she smiles and tells you "that's an old menu". I would have forgiven this if for not the food was a bit decent. read more
