Part of my takeout order was a Greek salad. A whole bunch of nice, fresh Spring mix lettuce, 3 tomato wedges, 2 strips of cuke, a tiny amount of minced feta, 1/2 an avocado, some capers, 2 thin slices of red onion, and 2 kalamata olives. Plus the dressing. Everything that was in there was good. But I'm really disappointed in the amount of cheese, and olives. Two things that, in my mind constitute a Greek salad. Very pleasant. The owners have created a unique environment that is a fusion of Mediterranean bistro, wine bar, wine & beer retail, and cigar store. We had a couple of delicious kebab dishes served with house-made soups. The Lentil soup was excellent. The Shrimp cocktail appetizer was certainly enough for two. Served in a large goblet with chopped celery, onions, and avocado. The room is lined with retail wine shelves. Very broad selection - reasonably priced. Any wine from the shelf can be served at table for an $8 corkage. Makes sense. Biggest surprise was the humidor room!! It's a good sign when you enter a humidor room and it actually FEELS humid. The selection indicates that someone has a working knowledge of cigar quality. And, like the wine, they're not out to gouge your wallet. read more

We heard about this restaurant from neighbors and decided to try it. We ordered the hummus with meat and a side salad. The hummus is the best I have tried on the Central Coast. The addition of pine nuts and some EVOO drizzled on top was great. There was a generous amount of flavorful meat on top with just enough pita bread on the side. The side salad had too many capers and not enough olives (for my taste). This was Much, MUCH better than Jaffa cafe. There is a large selection of wines (I can't comment on the prices). We ordered a slice of Coconut cake ($8) which was tasty but overpriced for the portion size. As a foodie and a wino, I can't say enough about this dining experience. It's clean, sophisticated yet casually comfortable. There is a cigar room with hundreds of cigars for sale. The bar and covered patio are incredibly inviting. The service and quality of the foods are indescribably exquisite. Amazingly fresh food! Perfectly prepared. I had the octopus appetizer and gyro salad. My friend got the avgolemono soup and loved it. She also got some vegan cheesecake and chocolate cake to go. My wife and I have been coming to Hapy since it opened. They always deliver. Such healthy and delicious food, we have just never been disappointed. We have tried everything. Don't be put off by the odd location and the outside patio that could be anywhere. It's always better to eat outside. They should bring back the 3 flat screen TVs, there's always something worth following, live sports, House and Senate debates, breaking news. Great service. Tasty food. Went in for dinner on Friday evening. After a long, hot day we opted to sit on the patio (which I didn't even know they had!). It started cooling down quick, but the staff had no problem lighting up a patio heater just for us. The warmth, the string lights, and the fabulous people added to the great vibe. Our awesome server, Jackie, was bubbly and knowledgeable. She was so pleasant, had it not been date night, we would've wanted her to join us for dinner. They have a GREAT wine selection: "By the Glass" is ok, but "By the Bottle" is where it's at. I like that they have some of the harder to find local wines (ie: not just Opolo's Mountain Zin that every restaurant has, but Opolo's Rhapsody). The owner stopped by our table and delivered our second glasses of wine. It's great to see the pride in ownership. The staff seems to enjoy working there and it exudes in all their attitudes. I enjoyed the kefta kabob and my boyfriend got the ribeye. The steak wasn't the best, but he admitted it was a bit silly to order a steak while at a Mediterranean restaurant. We rolled into Pismo Beach late in the evening when most restaurants were closing. It had been a 12 hour tour and we failed to stop for a lunch. We Yelped a place to eat and Hapy came up as well reviewed. When we arrived, we felt we were a tad underdressed, but took a chance anyway. We walked into what seemed to be a modern gourmet wine shop with tables. We could see an elegant bar and kitchen further in, but we had no idea that there was also patio dining in the back. Everyone started checking out the glass cases showing everything from classic soda to champagne. I began to peruse the wine. Such a variety; including one of our favorites--Chronic. We only had a brief wait when we were greeted with a smiling and lovely server. She was incredibly prompt, informative and courteous. What a nice greeting for weary travelers. The menu was truly Mediterranean with a few added American entrees. Each of us picked something different. I had the lamb chops. My husband the baked chicken stuffed with goat and Feta cheese. Our sons had the gyro sandwich and fish and chips. Our daughter had the cheeseburger. Our appetizer was traditional calamari served with two types of aioli sauces. It was light and not overly cooked. The entrees arrived soon after. My lamb chops were cooked medium rare and served with grilled vegetables and traditional rice. I was surprised. Most Mediterranean restaurants can go over board with portion size and sauces. Our food was cleanly prepared and served. My husband's chicken was crisp without being overly cooked and served with garlic mashed potatoes. Truth be told I preferred his meal to mine. My son's fish and chips were the big surprise. The fish was seasoned, not the batter. Once again, the batter was not heavy nor greasy. Lastly, the gyro sandwich and the cheeseburger. Each well prepared. I was surprised again that the hamburger was a 1/2 pound serving. After our meal, we engaged in a great conversation with one of the owners. He had briefly greeted us at the beginning of our meal, but came back to speak to us. He told us about how their business began and where their name Hapy came from. We complimented him on the interesting atmosphere. It is a wonderful restaurant, but the added curiosity of a wine seller makes the environment unique. I think they have a winner. We got take out here just as we went back into lock-down. I had the lamb dinner, which was quite good. It was big enough to save half for later. The octopus salad was good too. We had the bread pudding for desert which was also a very generous portion. There were two other things that made me want to write a 5-star review: 1. Bacon wrapped dates. We had these for appetizer, and they are awesome. 2. Customer service: I came in on the day that they were closing the inside dining room because of COVID. I am guessing that this is stressful for restaurant owners. When I paid for the food I used a gift card that was older than I realized; in fact it was so old that their new registers weren't able to ring it up. They insisted on honoring it, and apologized to me for the slight delay while they wrote up the receipt by hand. We will definately be back. They have a nice patio so maybe next time it won't be take-out. read more

Save your money. We called to place an order to pick up, which was painfully slow. We asked for no bread and to sub with anything else and the person taking our order said no they can't do that. Seriously?! We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 salads. Went to pick it up and it wasn't ready on time, so we waited, that's fine. We get home and 1 appetizer is missing and I call to ask why. They say I never ordered 2 which I clearly did and had repeated back to me. Besides all that we barely got any steak in the order and a few small mushrooms... They didn't sub in extra veggies or anything like we asked so we just paid for Flatbread and didn't get it, nice. Salads were super salty!! All in all almost $53 for 1 small app with a few small bites of steak and 2 salads that were almost all cucumbers. What a rip off! read more

Every now and then I wish there was a way to add half a star because I struggle with my rating, but here it goes... I'm picking 3 stars because we had takeout a couple nights ago and the food was just so so. My husband picked up and said inside the restaurant was nicely decorated and the staff was all friendly, but that he was ignored at first. The food didn't take too long to be made and packaged up. As far as takeout goes, they did my pet peeve... putting the salad in the same box as the hot food is a big no no. By the time it gets home the salad is wilted and warm; not good. The tzatziki was too garlicky for my liking, but the mashed potatoes and lentil soup were fabulous. We will try dining in next time and hopefully our experience will be better so I can update my review. read more

We really wanted to enjoy the dining experience (anniversary) here but next time it will be appetizers and drinks which would be great. The stuffed chicken was very dry as were the chicken kabobs. We had the bacon wrapped dates which were awesome. Deserts were good also. Service was very average (the old test of empty water glasses throughout our stay). Wanted to go 4 stars but really can't yet. As said, we'll give it another go and limit it to what I think they do well which is wine, beer, and appetizers. I wish I hadn't paid $36 & $32 for entrees as they were so disappointing. I ate here a few yrs ago, had a good experience & remembered it being great then, so decided to return for some take out. The vegetarian mix appetizer was great. However, sea bass, which is always a moist fish & prepared lightly cooked was so over cooked & dried out that it had the texture of jerky. I had to use a steak knife to attempt to cut through it. It was awful. The oven roasted chicken had nearly no sign of any of the cheese stuffing described on the menu (just noticed a thin layer of herbs), & I wasn't expecting it to be more like fried chicken than anything. When asking a mediterranean person how octopus should be cooked she said it should never be rubbery like that and that's what she thought when she ate it there. After I left I was soo thirsty all day. As a chef myself I don't want all that salt and spice in my food cause then I have cravings for more sweet or liquid. It is not balanced cooking.
