The Captain and 1st Assistant were friendly, courteous and professional. Although we did not spot any whales, we encountered two large pods of dolphins which swam along the boat for a short distance. It was an amazing experience to watch the dolphins at close distance, they are beautiful creatures. Overall, the cruise was quite enjoyable, "smooth sailing" and well worth the cost. read more

So, everything went well, but nobody will tell you that you need to go to the booth to get your tickets printed even though you have an online QR code/ticket. Directions or boarding time were never provided. I feel like the boat itself was a smooth ride, we got to see plenty of dolphins which was wonderful, and although we didn't get to see any whales, it's okay it happens. The only thing I would like to say is that when you are selling beer on board, you gotta watch your people drinking too much.. There was an obnoxious couple that were in the front of the boat, leaning over the railing and drinking and spilling beer all over people making out in front of kids, and it could've been a big liability, the way that she was stumbling all over the place with her boyfriend, she could've easily fallen over. This was an issue that distracted everybody from enjoying dolphins swimming along our boat, to worrying about getting beer all over us, acting like fools in front of everybody. They were literally hanging over that railing. It's OK to stand at the railing but not if you are drunk, and I believe this needs to be better monitored. I feel like our experience was tainted by these people who were disrespectful to everybody else... Mind you, they ended up throwing up on the boat at some point as well. It's disrespectful to customers and disrespectful to staff. So maybe monitor the alcohol and people who are drinking and have better security? Or move them to a cabin downstairs. Otherwise, will definitely go again...hoping for a better experience. read more

What a great Whale Watching Tour! I took my family that was visiting from out of town whale watching, and they absolutely loved it!!! The staff is so friendly, the boat is sturdy, big and so very clean. It was so great to be able to move all around the boat and sit anywhere with amazing views. You barely felt the waves, the boat just felt so very strong and safe to walk, stand or sit on cushy padded areas and or tables. We also loved that we could get a drink and or snacks as well in case anyone got thirsty or hungry. The best part is that we also saw so many whales. At the end on the way back someone came around with a model of a whale to educate us abut the type of whales we saw. We spotted about ten different whales (Blue and Finn) and a big pod of dolphins frolicking all around us. It was truly a joyful and special fist whale experience and we can't wait to come back with friends!!!! read more

Went on a 45 minute harbor cruise with the kids. It was entertaining and educational with the captain giving us a bit of history of Long Beach Harbor. We sat inside the boat as it was a bit chilly that day. There was outdoor seating on top of the boat though. Boat had a snack bar with soft drinks and snacks for sale and a restroom with flush toilets. read more

I'm gonna be straight- how can you judge something like this- I have been on this cruise 3 times in the past 7 years. We have seen dolphins and whales each time. We took a ride on 4/20 to celebrate our wedding anniversary- we saw hundreds of dolphins and 5/6 fin whales. Be warned!!! Dress warm!!! It's so cold on the front of the boat and you will want to stay out as long as you can to see the sights!! read more

Okay , so I wanted to take my daughter on a boat ride to see some wildlife & have her experience new things (she's 2 & obsessed with finding Nemo & finding dory) . I booked our tickets for her dad , myself , & our two babies . The only downside : our boat literally almost had no seats . We are standing there with a two year old & an 8 mos old in our arms. Upon finishing our trip we saw another boat getting ready to leave but that boat had seats . So I was disappointed . Other than that , great weather , great tour , seagulls flew over us & we saw seals or sea otters whatever they are . & the trip was about an hour so it was just enough & not too overwhelming ! I've decided that our Harbor Breeze whale watching tour will be my last review of 2021 because it was so memorable and so enjoyed by myself and my family! This was part of a package deal with our Aquarium of the Pacific ticket purchase and definitely well worth it for $22 more for an adult and less for a child! Along for the ride you will have a marine biologist from the aquarium identifying and pointing out so many sea mammals, birds and other history around the harbor! He was so informative! The tour typically takes 2 to 2.5 hours and departs from the dock at noon or 3 PM. The tour started out seeing the Queen Mary and all the cargo ships waiting to come in to port. I think something that was back ordered for me was on one of them! We were thrilled to see a variety of various dolphins giving us a visual treat! I am so delighted that we chose the 3 PM tour, so there was not a time constraint to return to harbor, because we witnessed something the marine biologist called a feeding frenzy and he was so elated, as we are we, that we were witnessing this! There were a variety of different dolphins, seals, sea lions, birds and a humpback whale! If you look at my videos, they don't give the experience justice as there were thousands of sea mammals and birds! Our tour ended up being close to four hours in length because of this rare feeding frenzy, but the crew asked us if all the passengers were okay staying out longer to witness this and luckily, everyone said yes! My great nephew keeps asking when we will be doing that again! It was definitely a memorable experience in 2021and definitely on our list to do again! read more

Update 10/26/19: Enjoyed it the first time that I had to take family. Saw about a hundred dolphins this time around and one humpback. It was amazing once again! ------------- I'm on a boat! Well technically was, and it was such a great experience. Imagine, drinking a cold beer, while watching dolphins jump out of the water and following a Humpback whale. Having the LA sun shining down on you with a cool wind blowing through your hair. We went beginning of October 2019. I suggest calling ahead of time and asking if they have seen whales or dolphins in the more recent trips, as it is no guarantee, but at least you can find out before going. The boat was very clean and felt relatively new. There is plenty of places to sit, including spaces on the top of the boat and near the food area on the bottom of the boat. They have beer and wine for $5 a cup of bottle. Water bottles are $2 and snacks for $1. Everything is inexpensive. Groupon has a deal where you can get 2 tickets for $46 for whale watching, which is a steal. You have to book 48 hours in advanced with the Groupon. This is a great short trip for a date or with kids! It is directly next to Aquarium of the Pacific and an outdoor mall. You could grab a boat ride, eat at a delicious restaurant, and then see the aquarium all in one day and within walking distance. Get parking validation and it ends up being $8-$10 and don't forgot Dramamine medicine if you get seasick. read more

Wonderful day adventure! We did the 3pm whale watching cruise and absolutely loved it. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable, food prices reasonable , and the boat wasn't too full. We saw hundreds of common dolphins and were lucky enough to see a humpback whale, but it is bound to change everyday. Harbor Breeze Cruises is a great way to learn a little bit about the City of Long Beach as well as cruise around the harbor and see sights you aren't able to visualize from the shore. Tickets are easily obtained online via reservations or in person at Rainbow Harbor. If you purchase tickets online, be sure to stop by the kiosk to get your tickets printed, this step is needed before boarding your cruise. The cruise was about 45 minutes or so, and is family friendly. They also sell some snacks and drinks (beer too), while you are on the little cruise. We are hoping to go again for whale watching! Probably one of the best priced things to do in the Pike area. For $15 you get a 45 minute harbor cruise and $10 for seniors. We had a reservation for the ride but during the week probably not necessary. Weekend yes rsvp. Nice cruise through harbor, they do a full loop. We got good narration by the Capitan. The boat offers a beer bar and snacks on both levels. We got to sea about half dozen sealions snoozing on the harbor buoy. Theres a restroom on board. The last cruise of the day is probably the best due to the sun being low. read more

Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and then relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada - any time I get the chance to be close to or next to the water... This is and always will be my charter of choice. Today was my second time onboard and it was an even more amazing experience this time around. It started off a bit quiet but soon enough we were all blessed to see a pod of bottlenose dolphins, a sperm whale (which we were told are a rare sighting), a blue whale, and more than a few Mola Mola (Ocean Sunfish). Harbor Breeze tickets can be purchased online or at their booth (dock #2). I believe it's a few dollars off when purchased online (either way, it's worth it). Seating is plentiful no matter where you decide to be, and they also have snacks/drinks/alcohol available for purchase.
