What a fabulous family outing for us. We were visiting California and my daughter requested whale watching for her birthday. After researching our options this was the best for us. The boat is large enough to feel safe and small enough to see the action. The tour lasted a little longer than 2.5 hours because we saw SO many dolphins and whales and even seals. The process to purchase tickets on line was easy. We arrived 1/2 hour before departure and got in line for the best seats. Price wise you can't beat. Very affordable for a memorable experience. Just didn't see any wildlife at all which kinda sucked but hey thats just how it is sometimes, its really all about luck and timing and when I went, it was on labor day and it departure time was a on 4:30 pm which was actually rather interesting time because typically it was only 12 and 3 where they do whale watching. Anyways besides not seeing anything, the little cruise was really nice and being on a boat is such a amazing experience especially for the price! Loved how when we were heading back to the harbor, it was a perfect time to do sunset photos of long beach and really even tho there was no sea animals or whales, I still felt pretty happy! I go on a whale watching trip just about every year and I always choose Harbor Breeze in Long Beach for the excursion. Great experience and perfect time go! Just remember to bring your warmest clothes and sunglasses. It was windy and cold since our boarding time was at 3pm. Also the perfect time to go is the last slot of the day because you get to see the sun set. No need to rush on board and grab a seat, you will move all around boat to see the dolphins and whales. My second time on this cruise, the first time i was able to capture more videos, this time not so much but nonetheless the view and experience was great. Good price for 2-3 hours of going out, the crew was amazing, there was sea lions, dolphins, a whale and baby whale as well. The weather was beautiful and the boat ride was relaxing. We saw dolphins, a Minke whale, Pelicans and Terns. We feted Grandma for her 76th birthday last weekend by taking her whale watching then out to dinner. Harbor Breeze staff were unobtrusive, polite and courteous. The ride out was on choppy seas, so half of us had to retreat into the yachts lobby area to avoid the ship's rodeo like lurches + convulsions, plus all the frothy salty spray jetting everywhere. The more valorous of our family (my wifey + eldest son) returned soaking wet, looking like they'd just showered! Your favorite Yelp correspondent actually got seasick from the ocean's twists + turns...but at least I was able to enjoy the awesome spectacle of my mother in law beaming like "the world's youngest septuagenarian" at majestic spectacle of a blue whale breaching the water's edge for a massive gulp of air. Later, while I was napping off my immensely dissymetric, imbalanced (inebriated feeling!) headache, I'm told that Mom was laughing uproariously as several dozen dolphins played tag as they knifed through the water aside our ship. Harbor Breeze serves an array of chips, candy, hot dogs and soft drinks. We shared a pair of hot dogs, which were decent. read more

I wish I could give this more stars. My kids were enjoying the experience until several people started feeding seagulls. That terrified my five and three year old. I awaited a crew member to at least suggest that people not feed the birds but no one said anything. We had to go to the bottom of the yacht. I've been on several harbor cruises in various coastal cities and never had this issue. I know people lack empathy but it should be common knowledge that not everyone likes them. Plus they dedicated on someone. That's not cute or funny. If you can promote the snack bar three times on the trip you can ask them to respect others by not feeding the seagulls. read more

What a fantastic morning. We came out for the 9 am whale watching cruise. We saw dolphins, fin whales and a humpback whale that was having a fun time playing in the water. The boat is very clean and comfortable. As a disabled person I was very happy to have seats and a warm place to sit inside so I didn't overexert myself. Pricing was very reasonable. We purchased tickets online for the 45 minute Harbor Tour that takes you along the coastline with narration. We were told that strollers are allowed on the boat at the captain's discretion dependent on how many people buy tickets. You also had the option to leave your stroller wagon on the dock, which is not something we wanted to do. There's multiple boats coming and going so didn't want to have to worry about someone walking off with our wagon. We decided to leave it behind in our car parked in the nearby garage. When we boarded, we saw some strollers parked on the dock and also some guests were able to bring their strollers on the dock level. They're not allowed on the top of the boat, though. We were scheduled for 3:15 and lined up by 2:50 pm. We boarded on time and grabbed one of the tables on the first floor. It got pretty hot in there and had to step away to the top for some fresh air from time to time. Our 2 year old had a better view from the windows rather than the top so we chose to stay. Masks seemed to be optional and less than half had them on. The bathrooms are tiny. Changing our 2 year old's diaper was a challenge since the stalls barely fit one person and much less two. No changing table, either. It's a boat so don't expect any family friendly bathrooms. The bar was open and they some snacks like Cheeze-its, Corn Nuts, Cheetos, etc. They had bottled water, sodas, and a few beer selections. For the price, it isn't a bad experience. But, they should do something about making the first floor a little cooler. We were sweating our faces off. read more

Best Whale/ dolphin viewing trip, EVER!! FYI #1, get in line early, 14-20 minutes should be ample.. the outdoor deck seats are prime seats but the first to go.. The total trip lasted 3 hours!! It seemed that the crew kept pushing more into the pacific..in order to get us to see a large pod of dolphins.. The ship had great seating..sorry I was not able to get more pictures but I took mi Abuela on our trip.. But DEFINITELY..seat facing the back of the boat!! The dolphins chase the propulsion of the motor in the back of the boat.. best pictures and videos, EVER!! read more

I love going on harbor tours when in California. I walked up and purchased my ticket on a Saturday afternoon. We boarded the vessel at 12:25ish and were out around 12:30. We got to learn about the history of the oil islands. The tour was informative and we got to see sea lions up close. They do have some snack and drinks for purchase onboard. read more
