ZERO STARS if I could. DO NOT GO TO HARBOR DENTAL GROUP. Despite all the negative reviews I decided to give harbor dental a try. It was more convenient than anything walking distance if you will. I've been to this office several times over the last five weeks for a deep cleaning and two fillings. Today's visit was the absolute worst dental experience I've ever had. As soon as I walked in, I was told to wait for the hygienist. An older woman, likely in her 60s, comes out. I politely asked if she would be doing the cleaning since I hadn't met her before, and she snapped at me saying, "I don't wanna do your teeth either." Completely unprofessional and rude. I explained to her that I've had work done recently and my gums are still sensitive. Instead of being understanding, she was rough and careless. She used the tartar scraper so aggressively I could literally taste the blood. I told her she was being rough, but she didn't adjust at all--instead she tells me I can go see someone else mid-cleaning. She was using the water and air tools with no precision, just dragging them across my teeth like she was playing piano keys. I asked if she could apply the numbing gel (NOT the needle), and she replies, "Well why didn't you say that before?" Mind you, I'd already mentioned my sensitivity multiple times. You'd think a professional would offer it. When she finally did apply the gel, she slapped it across my gums with no care, poking me like it was an afterthought. I asked if she treated all her patients this way, and she responded, "If you flossed, you wouldn't be going through this." The level of disrespect was unreal. Then she started jerking my face around like a child getting their hair done--not repositioning, just straight up rough. I asked her to be gentle with the floss, and instead of doing that, she tossed it aside and told me to floss at home. At that point, I'd had enough. I went to the front desk and asked if someone could supervise the cleaning because she was being incredibly rough. The front desk woman just laughed in my face and said, "I've worked with her for 20 years, she's never rough with me." Totally dismissive. Then the hygienist walks away and says, "I never want to see her again." I told the front desk that while they may work together, I'm a paying patient. I missed work to be there, only to be treated like I was the problem. The receptionist refused to reschedule me and said maybe it's just "not a good fit." Pure clown behavior. You run a business that's supposed to be about care and professionalism--not ego and dismissal. I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone. Save yourself the pain and frustration. Have a first time appointment via referral and I have an appointment at 1 PM. I arrived and completed paperwork in 5 mins. I was then in a in one of the chairs; after 40 minutes, I asked when i will the dr and tge told me few minutes; They told me that it was a patient ahead of me. I asked how long and they told me about 20 minutes. I asked to change the appointment but by then I just want to leave because by the time he would be way over after 2 PM. Two patients arrive after me. Technician was respectful and secretary receptionist efficient, or whatever there is no excuse to take the time out of the patient that is not excuse to leave the patient and known how long they are going to be there in a room for at least an hour the doctor should be aware that they cannot take the time just because he wants to see all the patients sitting in chairs waiting for to see . inexcusable patient's treatment. read more

This is a family owned dental office which is clean, professional staff and 5 different dentists are very knowledgeable with a lot of years of experience will take great care of you. Horrible. Was scheduled two weeks ago today on a Monday at 8 AM Dr. never showed up for over an hour I had to leave as we had other appointments that day we rescheduled for today also an 8 AM doctor showed up at 9 o'clock and that's after I complained at 8:40 she comes in does her little exam Tells us to use fluoride mouthwash and basically make another appointment to do the work. If she wasn't late she would've been able to do some of the minor work that needed to be done but because she's late we have to go through a whole Nother process we told them to lose the paperwork will find another dentist, this place is horrible not sure who the dentist was. Some light skin Russian woman maybe 30/40 year old. I do not recommend this place. Or at least not an 8 AM appointment because they told me two weeks ago she drove from the Bay Area. read more

I went to the same dentist for over 16 years and then moved away but have since moved back. I had not been to a dentist for quite some time so I was nervous about finding another as my original was not in my dental plan. I ave had a lot of work done with Harbor Dental and let me tell you, everyone in the office has been unbelievable. Norma has made me feel totally comfortable and has explained the not only the billing but the work as well, step to step. The Dentist makes me feel totally relaxed and has some good light humor as well. I simply can not speak highly enough about all everyone I have been involved with so far in this process. My wife and I came here after not seeing a dentist for 5ish years. We were both amazed at the speed of the hygienist who did our cleanings. She moved so fast that we both experienced pain in our gums. Even when my wife told her that she was hurting, all the hygienist said was "uh-huh," and kept on. The dentist (NOT Dr. Alex) came in after the cleaning and spent literally ten minutes with each of us poking around in our mouths and barely speaking. In short, we both left saying, "not here, ever again." Overall, we felt that they were prioritizing speed over comfort. I would not recommend this office to anyone I care about. read more

I love this dentist office! I went to get my last wisdom tooth removed and the whole process from arriving there to leaving was 40 minutes! Rude. Rude rude rude. I will qualify that I am EXTREMELY dental phobic. But this was something I was completely up front about. I booked online and told them then. I mentioned again when I came in that I was very anxious and it is very difficult for me to even come into a dental office. All I asked for was patience. I understand that no one can do it for me. I wish I could NOT be anxious. The feelings aren't something I can control. I can only control how I handle them, and I need to be informed of what's happening and I need patience. That's it. I explained my past dental experiences. Anesthesia doesn't work on me and I don't know why. I've had teeth pulled with no anesthesia because it doesn't work. My jaw was dislocated in the process of an extraction. I explained this. My appointment was at 1. I got x-rays (that I didn't want, and said I didn't want, I came in for a small chip, but staff insisted) and was then left to sit for AN HOUR before seeing the doctor who was nothing but rude and lacking compassion. He accused me of wasting his time because I WANTED A MOMENT before we started. I wanted to know what was being done. I wanted to put in headphones. He was uncaring, impatient, entitled, and like his time was a privilege. After wasting an hour of mine. Then I got the hard sell to book another appointment on the way out. Are you kidding me? I decide what providers I see. *I* make that decision. Period. And I didn't feel at all comfortable with Dr. Vilderman. I understand an anxious patient is not an easy patient. I understand they take time. But in a PROFESSIONAL practice you get all sorts of patients and are expected to treat them all respectfully and understand their unique needs. I know this because I am in medicine myself. This is not the right clinic for you if you ever had bad experiences with dental procedures. You'll just end up having another. Avoid. read more

Where to start... This place doesn't even deserve one star. They deserve none. I went in Mid April for wisdom teeth extractions. The woman Olga who removed my teeth, in my opinion was pressed for time as she took my wisdom teeth out in less than 20 minutes with one having to be broke from my jaw bone making a huge cracking sound. Once it was done of course there was pain. But that's not what my review is about. Everything that has happened after is my problem. 2 weeks after having them taken out and while my mouth was still healing, it was also covered in white lesions everywhere. It became so painful I had to go to the ER just told be told that it was HSV-1. And I can tell you for a fact, I did not have HSV-1 before going to this dentist. I'm not sure if they sterilize their instruments correctly but something went horribly wrong during my visit. Now almost in the Month of August I have red swollen gums to where I can't eat anything because its too painful. Never have I an an issue with my gums or teeth or HSV-1. I really do believe I got all contracted all of these gum/HSV-1 problems from Harbor Dental Group in West Sacramento. This may not be the most put together review but this is my personal experience. I regret having Harbor Dental Group having anything to do with my teeth because it has been non stop problem after problem. And don't get me started on the individuals who work in the front. The lady I believe her name is Norma?? Rude. I will never set foot in this place again. If I could sue, you bet I would!!! read more

My primary doctor doesn't do wisdom teeth, so my friend gave me this location... I was panicking the whole time before the appointment, if I only knew how quick and easy it would be!!! Painful cleaning. And once again, the famous Doctor Olga got there first on 17 July 2023 by removing 2.5 teeth in 12 minutes flat saying nothing but rough admonitions like hold still and don't point! I was told they would pull the rest of the front teeth which they said were all rotten (but were they?) and at the same time install dentures across the front. I had a rough tooth and soon after, I went back on an emergency basis and got "Doctor John," a courteous and smiling Asian gentleman. He helped the roughness. Once home, I called to tell them I would like for Dr. John to be my dentist. The receptionist seemed to be accessing my records and noting the fact. She said Okay. They told me it would be some time for the authorization to come through. I have waited THREE AND A HALF MONTHS from 17 July until today, 3 November, when I called the insurance office to learn THEY NEVER PUT IN THE PAPERS FOR AUTHORIZATION of further treatment! I understand this kind of thing happens way too much! While there, I noticed a lot of Hispanic people. I was stationed in Spain (USAF) and went to school with Mexican kids. In the Harbor office I observed very fine front office ladies speaking perfect, upscale English and professional business Spanish. But, overall, something is wrong at this place. read more

Sketchy at best. I was immediately suspicious when they gave me various same day appointments to choose from, while other dentists were booked 2 weeks out. I arrived 10 mins early to fill out paperwork, and waited 30 minutes thereafter to finally be called despite their open schedule. No indication that they were running late, or an apology for that matter. While waiting, one of the receptionist sloppily saunters out of the office and returns 15 minutes later with her kid in tow. The same receptionist calls me in and says that she will do my x-ray.. (Huh? Where's the x-ray tech?) Sat on the seat to get x-rayed and the receptionist fumbled to get plastics open, dropped an instrument that was meant to go into my mouth, exasperation heard under her breath, callously reached over me and I actually had to inquire if I was in her way. She was visibly frustrated that things weren't going quick enough so she can get back to her kid... The dental hygienist was thorough and nice save for a few comments that irked me as a little degrading. One of them being, "Tsk, tsk, I see you don't like to floss.." followed by an awkward silence which prompted me to give her a bogus excuse as to why I don't floss daily. Its okay, I probably deserved that... Then in comes the dentist, Dr. Vilderman. No eye contact, no smile, just a measly hello as he's looking down at the charts. Short comments (again) about my flossing, and he diagnosed me with 4 more cavities than with my current dentist's diagnosis. Told him that I haven't felt any tooth sensitivity or pain. He just shrugged and said, "I don't know what to tell you, you're extremely lucky." His "chair-side manner" wasn't great, his sense of humor and ability to make one feel comfortable lacked. He isn't much of a conversationalist. He tells you how many cavities you have, any other information, you will have to ask. The whole experience left a funny taste in my mouth, literally. I can't rate the dentist on his dental work, but I will stick to my current dentist, thanks. read more

I live in Davis and would go to west Sac to be seen by Harbor Dental. Staff is unprofessional specially Norma. Norma is rude and disrespectful and I feel she would not have treated me that way, if I were Latin decent. They are so unorganized. I was told twice the service they will provide would be cover, than I was told I have a copay. When they called to confirm appointment, I ask again what was my copayment, so I can pay them cash because I don't mind paying and supporting business especially when business are struggling in this economy, but I don't think they care or appreciate there customers. When calling to confirm appointment I was told by one person again there was no copay and by Norma there was a copayment. Norma get very irritate and cancel my appointment after I ask which one is it, so I can know the exact amount I need to bring to my appointment. When I informed her the office is giving me different answers and she told me I can find another dentist all because the were give me misleading information and I told them the staff keep giving me different answers. Yuck! This review is for the office staff and the one of his "back up" dentists. My experience here literally changed me from someone who's always been one of those freaks who loves the dentist into a nervous dentistry patient. NOT OK! In hindsight, I should have trusted my gut and run like the wind early in during the first appointment when I started to feel like woman wasn't listening. I was told I had multiple cavities I turned out not to have, berated and accused of lying about my flossing habits, and subjected to a hard sell on Botox for my fairly typical amount of nighttime grinding. A night guard is the widely accepted and usually effective treatment for bruxism and I've been happily and consistently wearing a night guard for years. You can keep your Botox. Thanks. I returned for a second appointment to deal with the cavities I allegedly had and was having such a horrific and painful experience at this woman's hands that in the middle of things I called a full stop and told her I'd return another day to finish up. At this point, I sought a second opinion. I've always been told my teeth are basically in good shape. I'd had two cavities in my entire life and suddenly I'm being told I have multiple??? One of my prior two cavities had even been dealt with without novicane and now I'm having such a torturous time even when number up that I'm on the verge on tears??? Yup. Something was definitely wrong with this picture. Well... Not one of the supposed cavities has been spotted by another dentist since! When the filing she'd put in needed to be worked on, the new dentist numbed me up and even with my now being a nervous patient the whole thing was handled quickly and easily. So these guys were pretty much going to drill on my teeth for no reason beyond fun and profit! Wow! Fast forward a couple of years and multiple dental appointments with 2 separate dentists to first fix what this place screwed up and to then rebuild my confidence in the profession. You bet I'm here writing a negative review. Save yourself a lot of grief and go elsewhere. I've nothing to say about the clinic's namesake. I guess he himself only sees patients with certain types of insurance (I'm assuming the highest paying). Iirc, he's got additional specialty training (oral surgery?) so it also may be that he's only seeing the patients with something complicated (and thus higher paying) going on. He might be great, but when his name is the one on the door (so he's at least tacitly endorsing any other dentists seeing patients there) I've no choice but to attach the negative review to his name. read more
