Everyone at this office was so kind and professional, I have no complaints at all. From the receptionist to the dental assistants to the actual dentist himself. I have been coming here with my father for years, we have both had horrible experiences from the dentists and dental assistants. I came in about 2 years ago for an x-ray and found i needed one root canal and they had a cavity on watch. I got the root canal taken care of, and they never said anything else about any teeth, just one small cavity on watch in the front of my mouth. then I could not come back for about a year due to my mother having surgery. When i came in most recently they told me that i needed another root canal and had 6 cavities. I asked why i have so many and what happened, and they told me they did and it's all in the paper work. I had argued with him back and forth and had to verbally tell him to stop because he was stressing me out so bad. When the doctor left the room and the nurse was doing a cleaning on my teeth she started making rude comments to me and my mother. She said "Maybe if you guys came when you were supposed to this wouldn't happen" and some others. she then put all her force when she was flossing my teeth. I floss everyday and never have problems, when i got home my gums were purple from how hard she was doing it. I haven't gone back since but my father had to go a few more times to finish his process. he has had several " indestructible" bridges from acme dental break. When he gone in they immediately started to blame him for this and grinding his teeth, although he was eating a sandwich when it happened. They then were trying to pressure him into buying a mouth guard and were insisting this was the problem although my father kept disagreeing. they then made him pay for another bridge to be put in. it looks sloppy and extremely unnatural. in the past procedures we have had with the doctor he gets visibly frustrated. He throws his tools down and mumbles things under his breath. The doctor is very old and when he is working you can smell his breath and it is very disturbing and smells disgusting. I hope that no one else will have to go here to have an experience as upsetting as ours. They are only there for money and don't do their best so you have to come back. read more

I don't understand why the reviews aren't so good but my honest experience here was great. I did a root canal procedure with Dr. Freeman and he took his time and when I say his time I mean hours . The nice thing about this office is when you have an appointment they don't book a lot of appointments on top of appointments. The doctor make sure that he is mainly focused on you. Called in two weeks ago for my son cause he needs to be seen by a specialist for his root canals, receptionist lady who picked up explained that he can be seen and plus I said he's 14 years old, will they accept him and she says it's fine, the doctor here can see him and that they can get it done. Today 09/27/2024, they wasted 1 hour of our time not to be seen by the doctor but did x-rays and then told us he needs to be seen by a specialist, I was like, seriously, this is why we was here the first place, is to see a specialist, what a waste!! Seriously, I don't recommend this place at all. No wonder they have a bad rating. I can give this place no stars, !! read more

Why am I writing a review now, you ask?!?? I received a "reminder" for my next appointment....even though I have only ever had one and found a much better dental group. (See review of Davis smiles if, I don't know, if you're really bored right now). I needed a lot of dental work, and the dentist was totally condescending. I figure if I am going to be shelling out a lot of money, both through my insurance and out of pocket, I want it to go to someone worth it. The cleaning procedure that was done to my teeth was horrible and painful.  First of all the cleaning only took less than 10 minutes. Secondly, when your teeth are being cleaned you should not feel any pain at all. I remember telling the nurse that the dentist was rough with my teeth. My gums were literally swollen from being poked and pulled to the point where I could not even properly eat my dinner that evening. Getting your teeth clean is the most exciting and painless moment patiences look forward too.  This experience was deplorable. Very poor. First the office misinterpreted the conditions of my insurance. When it was finally cleared up they offered me an appointment in May to get fitted for a replacement to my lost upper plate. It's February that means over two months without upper teeth. They seemed to have an appointment when they wanted me to pay $1200.00. I had been going to this Dentist ever since I was 10. Every experience there has be terrible. The Dr. doesn't have much empathy for pain, he just wants to get it done. If you show up on time, you'll be getting your teeth x-ray'd and checked and cleaned before you know it. The staff here are always courteous, professional, and clean. They have a digital x-ray for your teeth!! This place is great. If your kids are dentist shy, then give it a try here, and if it doesn't take then they'll refer you out to a child specific dentist! My kid did fine here at 3-1/2, and it was his first time in a dentist chair. If you dread going to the dentist, you won't when you come here. read more

TERRIBLE I went to DDS Freeman at Acme Dental on 820 Westacre Rd in West Sacramento in 2013 because I was being laid off from my job and needed to get a cleaning. He told me I needed 10 fillings and he started off doing 2 for me. They insisted I pay cash and my insurance would reimburse me. I've never had a problem with a dentist before. When he was doing the filling it hurt! And I've never had it hurt before when I've had fillings done in the past. I ended up going back to him and asking him to look at my teeth again the very next day because I was in excruciating pain. He told me that it will either go away or it will hurt forever and nothing could be done. I did not go back to him and 2 years later when I was finally working again, I went to a new Dentist. Within, literally, seconds of him looking in my mouth he says, "Oh your tooth is chipped right where the fillings are." My new Dentist that I just went to told me that I only need 3 fillings and this was all without knowledge of the what the previous (so called) dentist said and did. read more

Went back immediatley & was prescribed Penniciln since the infection was so bad. The office rescheduled my daughter for the following week and was SHOCKED when they turned us away stating "We NO longer accept your insurance". I was discusted & appaulled! that they could do something so EVIL like that. I went to another dentist and thank God they took us in the same day and extracted the tooth which could have been avoided if Dr. Freeman would have given my daughter a root canal to begin with and none of this would have happened and my daughter would have avoided all the pain. Choose another dentist. I was new in the area and chose this because of my insurance, the wait time was not bad but the staff did not know How to do the x rays and forcefully continued to jab my gums until I was crying and my gums bleeding. The dr. Diagnosed me with severe gingivitis and said I needed to come back for deep cleaning and whitening because my teeth are yellow. Money, money, money. I got a second opinion and did not have gingivitis or need deep cleaning, just need to floss 5 days a week instead of 3. Beware. read more

This is not a dentist office that you would return to. I was assigned here by my insurance and upon arrival and a cleaning, I promptly got online to find someone else. The little brick building that is the office is in alone in the middle of a big parking lot in an industrial part of W. Sac. It has bars on the windowns and the inside is dirty and uninviting. The quality of work that is done in your mouth is during your exam is... well, I don't know because essentially they DON'T DO ANYTHING!!! Don't sign up for this office whatever you do. I went to dr.freeman and told him that my mother's gums were hurting he replied "well, it doesn't take a scientist to know that her tooth is infected and her bridge is missing"....you are right it doesn't take a scientist, it takes a good dentist which cannot be found at acme dental. I asked him what Can we do to fix the problem he said "a lot of things wrong with her why are you here? What do you want to do?" Dr freeman was very rude and at the same time when he working with us he kept leaving to check on another patient. AND before this incident i took my dad to him for an extraction he didn't do an X-ray after pulling the tooth and left a small piece of tooth root inside his gum. The prices are very reasonable, dare say some of the best that I have witnessed for serious dental work in the country. The main dentist is rough with your mouth and does not seem to care. If you are going in for cleanings and you receive his latin dental assistant, on the other hand, you will be in very good hands. I don't remember this assistant's name as it is a couple years back, but the man was actually a very good dentist in Mexico. I recommend the office if you don't mind a rodeo in your mouth for serious dental work, and expert care for all else. This is West Sac, take it for what it is, a community with heart. :-) read more

DO NOT go to this dentist. First off, Dr. Freeman told me that I needed several fillings and a deep cleaning. (I would come to find out later from a more reliable and honest dentist that I did not need these services at all) Thank God I did not have him do the fillings he was telling me that I needed, but unfortunately I did go in for the deep cleaning. Dr. Freeman gave me SO many shots of novocaine! Most of my face was numb, I couldn't even talk. I tried to talk to tell him that he had over done it on the novocaine and he couldn't even understand what I was saying because it sounded like jibberish. It was WAY to much novocaine especially for just a deep cleaning. I actually got up and left the office before I let him finish. There was NO WAY I was going to let him continue working on me. He probably numbed me so much so that he could be as rough as he wanted on my gums without me knowing. HORRIBLE!!! I should have listened to my gut the first time I walked into this place. It's old and run down and all their equipment is outdated. Also take note: It seems like many of the reviewers were told that they needed a deep cleaning (like myself) and found out later that they indeed did NOT need that service. read more

We chose ACME dental because they accepted our insurance and it was close to our home. Less than a month ago we took our daughter for a routine cleaning and x-rays. They said everything looked great on the x-rays. Now, four weeks later, my daughter has a large, extra tooth coming in behind her front teeth that is pushing her adult teeth out of alignment. When I called the dentist and asked if the tooth was visible on her x-rays a month ago they said, "Yeah, I guess I can see a supernumerary." Not that seeing it on the x-ray could have changed the tooth's course, but knowing it was there and planning for future oral surgery would have been helpful. That lack of attention is indicative to their subpar dental practice. The office is unclean and out of date. The staff seem despondent, and the dentist is aloof , lacking people skills. We don't have the greatest dental insurance, but there are better dentists than this one. Don't settle. read more

I had a VERY good experience here. I have to admit that I was a bit leery after reading the reviews, but they were right across the street from where I work... and I was in PAIN. I called just after they opened at 8:00 and was told to come in right away. Everyone that I came into contact with from receptionist to x-ray tech to dental assistant and the Dr. were WONDERFUL. I needed an extraction, which I would consider MAJOR work !! With me working across the street, It was awesome because the Dr. gave me a shot of Novocain for the pain. And I went back to work for few hours until they had an opening in their schedule ( I was given the option to wait) .. Meanwhile they called in RX's for antibiotics and pain, which I was able to pick up and start the antibiotics prior to my return to the office for the extraction. The Dr. was not barbaric, not a hedonist, not even rough.. he did what he needed to do, and did it well. The price was much better than I expected (I have no dental insurance), I cannot thank the entire ACME DENTAL staff enough for taking care of me :-) I WILL be back for regular dental exams and cleanings !! read more

My mother got dentures work at this office. When the doctor put the dentures in they came right back out as she tried to speak. The dentures clearly didn't fit her gums. The doctor pretty much refused to correct the problem and told her medical won't cover anything else and that she just has to deal with these dentures or pay to get them fixed. The doctor was rude and unprofessional. A friend recommended a different dentist and so i took my mom there. The doctor looked at her dentures and agreed that the impression were not taken correctly. He spent 2 hours with her to fix the problem and he couldn't believe that the doctor (at ACME) let his patient walk out like that. I went back to ACME to request $200 refund for the rush delivery of the dentures. Of course they refused to give the money back. My mom has medical and i plan on reporting this place. They take money from medical for a services that they are not fulfilling. This dentist office is terrible. read more

I've gone here twice and I am finding another dentist office the next time. The staff was rude and did not do their job. The first time I set up a dentist appointment, I told them to schedule me the latest appointment they had because it is hard for me to take off work, so they did. They then called me the day before my appointment and told me that they would have to reschedule me because there were a couple employees that wanted to leave early that day, so there wouldn't be enough people in the office. That is a horrible excuse to reschedule someone! I could tell she was hesitant on telling me why they would have to reschedule because she was stuttering so badly. This was also after I had made arrangements with my boss to leave early the day of my appointment. When I rescheduled for another day, I told them I might be a few minutes late because I was coming from Davis during rush hour and they said it would be fine. I was 6 minutes late when I showed up to my appointment and they said that they would not be able to see me because they did not want to stay late. SIX minutes!! After they initially told me it would be fine if I was a few minutes late! I argued with them, so they let me stay for my appointment. The second time I had an appointment with them, they were in such a rush to get me out the door that the dental assistant did a horrible job cleaning my teeth. The cleaning literally took 10 minutes max, and while flossing my teeth, she skipped my bottom teeth where I have my permanent retainer from when I had my braces. It's a shame because the dentist is very nice. His staff members are just the problem here and have horrible customer service. Nonetheless, I have given them a fair try and have decided to go somewhere else. read more
