I have been with Harbor for 20 plus years. I cannot say enough about the cleanliness and well maintained equipment hygiene. The staff are helpful and kind. Tiffany Flores, in particular is amazing. i recently had to reach out to her and she assisted me with kindness and efficiency. I highly recommend this facility - conveniently located in Bay Ridge. I can only speak to the female locker rooms, but they are constantly being upkept. The saunas are wonderful. The other patrons are respectful. Huge gym with two floors and a lot of excersize equipment. I upgraded to all access so I can have the option to go to any harbor fitness clubs and use different machines.They have the steam rooms and sauna rooms, but I have not yet tried them. Bloody FREEZING effing COLD. They blast the air conditioning and it is unfathomable. Who the hell is asking for this??????!!!!!!! They run the fans upstairs so hard it blows towels away when trying to lie them down on a mat. This is very very bad for training. It is the quickest way to get sick. Sweat and have freezing air blowing directly onto you. I routinely wear a hat and layers. I have to cover up when I do floor work so that I concentrate on training rather than suffer beinf frozen. I recently moved to the neighborhood and started my membership pretty much as soon as I got here, since I'd been to their Park Slope location as a guest and seen good things, but didn't live close enough to justify my own membership. The Bay Ridge location did not disappoint and looks to be very clean and well-maintained. The staff is extremely friendly and informative and their hours are great. The size and equipment availability are a breath of fresh air, compared to the gym I was at previously. The amenities are amazing as well, as I'm coming from a significantly smaller gym. By far my favorite gym I've ever been to. The staff is friendly, their shakes are delicious, their equipment is top notch, and they are CLEAN. Even before COVID, I loved how clean the facilities are. Plus, the other members are respectful and wipe everything down. The sauna used to be my favorite, it has been closed since Covid so hopefully it opens again. Also, I used to be so very nervous at the gym, however, this isn't like a bro-y gym. It's comfortable for all levels of fitness. One extra thing that is great - they made cancelling very easy. My fiancé got a job in Boston, so we couldn't continue our membership. Instead of fighting us and charging us a cancellation fee or giving us the run around. They cancelled. We have plans to move back after my fiancé's contract is over and will not hesitate to join back. I'm actually looking forward to it. read more

Excellent fitness center. I joined Harbor Fitness in 2002. I primarily use the Park Slope location but Bay Ridge offers some great weekend classes so I'll alternate between the two. They take their customer service very seriously, listen to feedback/complaints and respond accordingly. They've even added classes based on customer suggestions. I think it says a lot about the type of community the owners run. The gym itself is always clean, well-managed, machines work properly and the facilities are well kept. There's a sauna and steam room in the ladies locker room, as well as showers, clean towels, shampoo/conditioner and convenient amenities like a blow dryer, mouth wash and skin moisturizer. The classes are taught by competent fitness instructors who also double as personal trainers there. There is a little something for everyone and every style. Finally, there's a great smoothie bar for post work-out juice and smoothie options. It's very reasonably priced and the smoothies are great. The best thing about Harbor is that they think of small details that go a long way for their clients. It feels like an elite, private gym for a local community price. If you're looking for a gym in south Brooklyn, I would highly recommend them! read more

This was done with a simple phone call and a quick email. No hurdles to jump through like other unnamed gyms. I've been a member of Harbor since they opened their first location in Bay Ridge and the atmosphere has always been open and lively. Their staff is extremely personable, professional and friendly. The front desk staff deserves praise for their ability to welcome each guest with a smile and to remember member numbers despite how many people they encounter each day. I've signed up for personal training sessions with Kyle Bryan and I'm extremely happy with the progress we've made. Kyle isn't overbearing or aggressive in his approach to fitness and the methodology behind each session is unique, challenging and fun. I really enjoy working with Kyle and look forward to my sessions each week! The facility and equipment are all extremely clean and their cleaning staff is onsite at all times. I always have an amazing experience at Harbor. From the safety precautions during COVID and cleanliness to the kindness and attentiveness of the staff, there's not a day Harbor misses a beat. Last Sunday, one of Bay Ridge's staff members went above and beyond to show how much dedication and care he has for his members. Not only does Thomas always greet my fiancé and I by name, but he is always so kind and attentive, so much so that he DUG THROUGH A WHOLE GARBAGE CAN to retrieve my engagement rings that were accidentally thrown out. Thomas already had me sold on the fact that he treats anyone who walks trough Harbors doors as more than a set of numbers on a keychain- but this was the icing on the cake! It's hard to explain how much I LOVE this gym! All my family and friends hear about is how absolute obsessed I am with Harbor Fitness. Where do I even begin? The facility is huge, equipped with absolutely everything you might need (I would love for them to purchase a hip thrusts machine though- keeping the barbell on my pelvis bruises me a lot,) and pristinely clean at all times. All equipment is new, and top of the line. They even have an outside turf where you can do tire flips, etc. Locker rooms are beautiful, clean, and feature steam room and sauna. The staff is incredible. Always friendly and helpful. I love that they try and learn your name, makes you feel right at home. The manager Tiffany is an absolute GEM! Extremely professional, friendly, always accommodating, just a wonderful presence at Harbor. If the owners are reading this- give her a RAISE! Take advantage of their in-house personal trainers. I've been training with Kyle since I started a few months ago, and have seen so much improvement in my strength and stamina. I went up between 45lbs to 95lbs up across different lifts (squats, deadlifts, hip thrusts.) Great trainer. Harbor has some great packages for personal training. And you get a free one hour session when you sign up. Definitely try the smoothie bar- great variety, and lots of protein choices. I get their vegan protein powder in my smoothies, as it's a lot easier for me to digest. Harbor Fitness is definitely my happy place. Vincent Grey and his classes are all I want to do. I'm addicted. I've never even thought I would take a class, you know god forbid it's waaaaay too feminine (yes Im sorry Im old school) but was never so wrong....so glad I was wrong this time. Walking into his class, filled with women, I've never felt so awkward and intimidated in my life but this dude made me feel at home. All I have to say is dont knock it til you try it. It's been one month and I've lost 10lbs!!! I was a size 36 and now a size 34!!!! Havent worn a 34 since high school and Im 44 years old. I have watched the consistency of customer service that members and guests alike are treated. Besides the great facility, smoothies, surveillance cameras child care, wide assortment of workout equipment and great classes what's not to like?! Add to that excellent personal trainers. I used my complimentary two sessions with a trainer after I joined. He was incredibly knowledgeable and had the perfect combination of what a trainer should be. I went as a guest. This review is based on my time visit Pros Very attentive, friendly and professional front desk staff. Nobody looking at their phones. Staffed by cool young people who obviously care about the gym and the members. No attitude. Towel service is included. Large towels for the locker rooms, small towels to use on the gym floor. May not be important to you, but this is a big plus if you don't like carrying wet towels home with you in your gym bag The facility is clean and well maintained. All the equipment works and things are pretty much put away by the members as they should be. The members/gym environment - members are training, not sitting on the equipment in your way taking selfies or standing around talking. Guys and girls, young hipster man bun guy or older mature women and men, pretty much everyone is training. I can't stress enough how important this is at a gym if you are there to actually work, not watch a clown show or have to deal with people in your way who are doing nothing. Sauna - the locker room has a very hot Sauna that works. If you like Sauna therapy after you train, this is a great amenity. Parking - if you drive, you can pull right into the adjacent garage. You will pay for this, and its cash only. Still, being able to park quickly and easily in Brooklyn is a plus, if you have to use a car to get to the gym. Classes/Boxing/CrossFit stuff - the gym has space dedicated to these things that all look active, up to date, and set up well, if that's what you're into. Harbor has it. Cons It's crowded. At least during peak hours. It's not a very large training floor for the volume of members they have. If you are doing chest that night, and you need the 85lb DB's, you probably won't get them or even see them at all. Same for a squat rack or a lat pulldown machine. There may be a lot of members working out ahead of you, all doing the same things. If you go off hours, this is not an issue. They could add more equipment, but there would be nowhere to put it. Overall, a good gym, with good serious members and a good staff. Appears to be well run, clean, and properly cared for. It would need to be larger and be able to better accommodate their full member volume to rate more than 4 stars, in my opinion. read more

This place is really going through the trouble of making their gym go-ers happy with all the new renovations going on! They have a jammed packed winter schedule so you have jump start yourself into your bikini body with classes like Zumba, yoga, spin, and total body work out. Their schedules are morning, noon, and night and are guaranteed to fit any lifestyle you have; no excuses not to work out! Thanks to Marilyn R. for encouraging the girl at the front to give me a free week's pass, I was able to really see how feasible it was to come here right after work and park - and it was! All the machines you could want on two floors! Second floor is stocked with ellipticals, treadmills, smaller weights, and gazelle-like machines. There's TV's everywhere, and their radio stations are really geared towards keeping you pumped and focused! The women's locker room is flawless! Clean, fulls stocked with towels and other essentials after a sweaty workout. Buy a locker and keep your gear there if you opt for the year plan. Looks are deceiving on the outside - walk inside and see what I mean! read more

Harbor Fitness in Bay Ridge is a great gym. They have weight lifting machines, free weights and dumbbells on the first floor. They also have a group exercise studio and cycling studio. The second floor has all kinds of cardio machines and stretch area. I didn't use the outdoor space and boxing area but good to have. They have a very friendly staff. The entire gym is getting cleaned constantly. The towel service is nice to have. There's a sauna and a hot room. I love my new gym! The gym membership comes with one hour personal training session. My trainer was Liz. She's very knowledgeable and professional. Also very easy to talk to. I wanted to learn more advanced moves. But since I lost a lot of fitness during the pandemic, she showed me some basic moves also. She corrected my squat and deadlift techniques, pointed out the weak muscle groups in my body, and suggested exercises for my rotator cuff injury. The Bay Ridge location comes with an outdoor area, where you can flip tires, push sleds , and a variety of outdoor activities. The gym is kept very clean and in pristine condition. Love this gym. Super clean, neighborhood friendly, lots of equipment, always friendly staff, and the classes are great. I took a cycling class with Gigi here and she kicked my butt! I've never been an avid group fitness class person (due to my last gym not really offering any HITT workouts), and I can honestly say you are getting a great deal with Harbor due to the facilities and their awesome classes. I've only been going to Harbor for a few months, and I'm pretty disappointed in myself that I never visited sooner. The gym has a great ambiance and energy that gets you ready for a good workout. My favorite perk, the staff isn't going to hound you if you need to freeze your membership or give you the runaround. They have great customer service... I been in many gym in Manhattan, Queens and New Jersey, I moved to Brooklyn almost a year ago, and enjoyed Harbor Fitness maybe 5 months ago. Before I join this gym, I was a little worried, because it was back in Jan, and you know how it is, usually from Jan till March, many fat people make their New Year resolution to lose weight, and of course it never work, but they packed the gym. Yes, I said it, please don't make your New Year resolution to lose weight, it will NEVER work, if you don't tend to lose weight any other day, after New Year, it will not going to make any different, so please stop trying. Now, let's talk about the gym, this is probably the best gym I ever been to, in New York, and yes, it beats the gyms I went to in Queens and Manhattan, including the one in New Jersey. They always have people cleaning the place up, everyday, usually in the morning/afternoon. They have sauna and a steam sauna, I love the steam sauna, is great. I always tried to go in the morning around 10am-11am and work out for couple of hours, and I also went during the rush hours which is between 5pm-7pm, and I gotta say, is not bad at all, hardly have to wait for a machine. z They also have childcare here, perfect for mom and dad that needs to drop their kids off for an hour or two to go workout here, and they have classes as well, many different ones, yoga, spinning, fitness and much much more. The only downside I have is, the regular sauna in the men's room, it broke few times, and making a really loud noise, and it happens for a few times, and they waited awhile to fix it, it can be really annoying sometimes. Also one girl there needs to pay more attention, she once checking me in, and I asked for bottle of water, but she was too nosy to wondering what's going on outside, she just walked away from me, and I complaint to her colleague, she did it before, I tried not to go to her during my visit because I might yell at her next time if she ever walk away from me again I spoke to few guys in the gym, and they are are all very happy in this gym, they told me this gym here is much more better than the one down the street, the one down the street was so bad, they pretty much giving it away due to all the teens. I'm glad I join this gym here and will probably keep going to this gym until I have to move again, and if you are living in the area, this is definitely the gym to go to, but only if you are cool like everyone else that work out there, if you are stupid teens and meathead, go away. lol read more

I would like to thank the owners, managers & staff at this amazing club for handling the Covid crisis this past year with the care & concern for all their members as if we were family. They instantly put out an email to all members automatically suspending all memberships until further notice. I have friends that were getting charged the whole time from NYSC when they weren't even open & not responding to any inquiries. Harbor was there to answer any questions & continuing to accommodate their members accordingly, always with everyone's safety in mind. Now that the club is open, they are still putting everyone's health & safety first, and attentive to individual needs as well. I recently cancelled my membership due to COVID 19 restrictions and trying to save on some extra bills, however this has been the best gym I've had a membership to in Brooklyn. I've tried multiple gyms from bay ridge to sheepshead and this is definitely the best one! The staff are super friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the free personal training lesson and they have awesome protein shakes. Lisa and Tiffany are absolutely wonderful. They kept me informed throughout this entire COVID period and understood when I inquired to terminate my membership. I have been working out here for the past four months and I am very pleased. The staff is helpful and the juice bar selection is perfect. They have wide selection of protien bars you can snack on if you need a pre or post workout snack . They offer child care in the morning and afternoon which is very helpful. There are steam and suna rooms in the bathroom as well showers. The showers have shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in them. I am always impressed with the staff working to keep the gym and locker rooms clean. Like any gym you have a few jerks who believe the world revolves around them and everyone is there to pick up after them. The staff does a great job making up for these few people. Some of the reviews mentioned waiting to use machines and yes sometimes I do wait but again on par for any gym. Most people are happy to let you work-in with them. I love the option to workout in the yard with sled or in the bag room. Bottom line this a great gym at a great price point. All the classes are included and everyone I have spoken to who works there has always been pleasant and professional. Great gym, lots of equipment, very clean. But I am writing this review specifically about my trainer- Liz. When I signed up, I had no intention of purchasing personal training. I wanted to take the free session to familiarize myself with the machines. But I was so impressed with Liz I ended up buying an additional 3, then 20 sessions, then another 20 sessions. Liz takes the time to make meal suggestions, write workout programs, and really tailor sessions to my personal goals. I have had experience with trainers in the past who either push too hard or don't push hard enough. Liz always seems to know exactly when I need a little encouragement, when I need to take it easy, and when I can work harder than I think I can. I have been working with Liz since early February, and already I can see major results. She's fantastic. I am getting a top notch trainer for an amazing price. read more

Just wanted to give a shout out to Harbor manager Tiffany for being so helpful and understanding when I recently needed to cancel my monthly membership (s). Harbor had suspended dues during the pandemic and when they reopened last Monday I called to cancel. The gym's contract states that I have to give them 15 days notice so technically they could've charged me and my son for a month. I and my son have pre-existing health conditions that require us to be ultra cautious about Covid exposure and Tiffany- generously and without penalty -terminated our membership at my request. Stands in stark contrast to some of the other gyms in the neighborhood I have heard stories about. :) read more
