If you want to literally turn your body into an ultimate machine this is the place to be! Its great for both men and women. The environment inside almost makes you feel like you're outdoors on a rugged terrain. You'll be working out to great music (pretty much anything thats popular in the club right now) getting pumped. Its clean and they have locker rooms for both men and women. They have a variety of classes here. You can either pay per class or you can join and pay for a monthly membership fee and take all of the classes you'd like. I really like the instructors here. I would say thats one of the main reasons why I like it here. They are ALL fit and really care about their health which is important and beneficial as a client for motivation and support. The instructors WILL push you to the limit and beyond but thats what seeing good results is all about! Fatiguing those muscles to build them back up!! Overall the vibe is awesome and theres also a sense of comradery as well. This place is definitely BAD ASS!

I first came in because of an offer for a first class free. My rep showed me how everything worked, including the heartbeat monitor on the arm band, which they give you for free on your first visit. An instructor walked me around the studio explaining the class format and made sure I was comfortable with water and a towel. When class started he periodically checked in with me but was not overbearing. I loved how while everyone worked out individually, seeing everyone's stats on the screen did make it feel like a team effort. I really appreciated learning about the different heart rate "zones" and later did research on this when I got home. My sales rep explained the pricing tiers yet was not pushy which I appreciated and I signed up within the week. The app made it very easy to book, see stats, etc. The club has fun challenges each month and really does have a sense of community. It was always clean and you can tell instructors here really care about the members. I only quit because I ended up moving to another neighborhood but this gym truly did change my physique while I was a member, making me stronger and noticeably had an impact on my cardio endurance. I'd recommend this gym to anyone.

They strap on a heartbeat monitor on your arms which helps to instruct you on the amount of effort that you should be giving. I really loved this idea because I'm generally at a loss of if I'm not pushing myself hard enough or what my goals should be based on my body type. The only thing is that when we were reviewing my stats, the coach noted that sometimes it doesn't register well for newbies. That was unfortunate news, because I really wanted to gain an understanding of my body. Separately, everyone is nice. check-in desk greets you with a smile. They gave a free water and towel which made me feel welcome. Lockers don't need a lock so it's convenient and shampoo/hairdryers in the women's lockers. The hip hop and rock music was great to push through the workout. Since there were no phones allowed and the biometrics on the screen, you got to focus on your personal goals without distractions. The coach offers corrections, but for the most part it's at your own pace. I already recommended to a friend.

Another was when I was in a "slump" and needed someone to coach me through it. I've referred family, friends and colleagues to The Body House. In addition to having the skills of a seasoned coach and personal trainer, Tony has built a welcoming and friendly environment. I've recently returned to The Body House after several years away. However, they needed my weight (which I don't want to know) because they set each person up with a heart rate monitor to measure progress throughout the work out. On top of that, they show everyone's stats on a screen in public view, which I was completely against. For some reason, they inputed my full name (first and last), while everyone else just had their first name present. Not cool at all. The instructor for the class (if you can call it that) was okay. She came around and helped me a few times throughout. The first half hour was solely on the treadmill, which I hated. I wasn't going that fast and it made me feel like I wasn't at the same level as everyone else. Also, I'm just not a fan of being on treadmills... I don't find it fun. After the treadmill portion, there were floor exercises that were displayed on a screen. I liked this part much more. I needed assistance a few times and the instructor noticed that, so came around to show me how it was done. Overall, it didn't really feel like a class because the instructor didn't actually show us the moves for us to follow. We were left to do the work out mostly on our own. I left without getting more information because I already knew this place just wasn't for me.

Different coaches have different teaching styles and level of involvement, so test out who works for you. The front staff are extremely helpful and friendly as well. 1)The class schedule removes stars - even lower tier locations offer more class slots. For example, offering 5 classes on weekends whereas park slope (same tier level) offers 7 classes per day on weekends, plus more weight training classes. The last class here is at 1145AM on weekends. 2) There are no private locker room areas at this location, so the changing area is crowded and frequently smells. 3)Management is unreliable about membership pauses + billing changes. Having a chronic illness that requires me to take health breaks, I wasn't provided a follow up for my most recent pause inquiry. At ~$280/month for the membership, you'd think they'd follow up. This location is personally not worth it for me. I recommend joining a Manhattan location if possible and visiting Brooklyn heights, as not to pay the surcharge.
