Unfortunately for people who may not be prepared like I was on a Sunday morning at 11am, I immediately cramped up and knew I couldn't continue with class (which was a bit crowded anyway). I asked for the instructor for some help and he guided me to foam roll my calf, but alas it was really bad - hard to tell if I simply didnt stretch or if I didnt have enough water beforehand. In any case typically the body conditioning is extreme for 30 minutes and then to a bit more technique on the various bags and rotating to one on one sparring. So generally instruction is good but more advice on stretching and reduction of injury would help. Lockers should be clipped as there always seems to none available. Cleaning is also very much needed as the floor is quite bad, spit buckets filled with trash. Bring your own towel (for sweat) and water bottle.

The bench's/machines are stacked on top of each other in a way that makes them unusable if someone is at the machine next to you. Tall "I" shape. Locker Room Size (Men's): Small for a gym this size. Equipment (outside of the basics mentioned below): no battle ropes or heavy kettlebells above 50 lbs, no TRX, 2-3 pylo boxes Crowdedness: Crowded. Audience trends to younger residents in the area Cleanliness: OK. not the best but clean enough Staff Friendliness: Average Hours: 7 days/wk. Better then other Blinks with later hours on weekdays (midnight) Overall: Rather large gym spread over 3 floors. Gets crowded especially on the 3rd floor and circuit machines downstairs. Ventilation isn't great either (gets hot and muggy). Gym audience here doesn't have the best etiquette, hogging machines and using their phones more vs working out. *Unless noted, assume all Blink gyms have locker rooms, water fountain, stretch area, dumbbells, kettlebells (up to 50lbs), smith machines, weight machines, cardio equipment (Rower, treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, stairclimber), showers, wipes, Towel machine (pay separate charge). (I did not want to deal with Blink corporate in case I needed to cancel and wanted to avoid a startup fee or annual charge). I do not take showers at the gym and tend to go off-peak hours. I'm

I love the variety of free classes they offer throughout the day. Decent array of equipment to choose from although it can use a little updating. Also it could get too crowded during weekday peak hours, between 6pm to 9pm. Oh the juice bar is amazing. Hands down a must try! Definitely the best feature that earns this gym a 5 star review.

The gold standard for sauna is 180 degrees Fahrenheit. It struggles to even get to 160. It's often at 140. This is not acceptable for a sauna. I also despise when people have taken to making it into a steam room. It's f$&ckin stupid. So to members who read this. Stop with that. You want steam go to 92nd location, they have a steam room. The point is to heat your body up and get blood flowing heart rate up and recover. Sauna is not about just getting wet and sweaty. When the sauna was renovated about 2 years ago. You also got rid of the second level , why? Some people want to be up there and get hotter. Also why is the temperature sensor inside with the sauna heater. Is there a reason why it's placed there ? The sauna will never get hot enough. If the sensor is basically next to it. I remember the original sensor before the sauna was renovated was by door. And back then the sauna, never really had stupid A holes putting water on the heater. We would police that and stop them. Please fix the sauna. Fix the sauna please. Please fix the sauna

I have been a member at the Prospect Park YMCA since 2021, and this has got to be the most poorly…read moremanaged YMCA I have ever been to. I stayed a member for so long because it's a convenient walk from my house, but I recently left here to join the Life Time and I couldn't be happier. Here's the good, the bad, and the ugly from my experience. The good: The pool. You really cannot get this anywhere else in/around Park Slope. That said, it is often crowded, with 4+ swimmers per lane, and the swim lane etiquette is not the best. They have lanes divided by speed - low, low/medium, medium, and fast - but basically I've found there is one fast lane, and all of the rest are slow. It feels like the fast-lane users are either former Olympic / Masters level swimmers, so I have to be in this awful position where I'm getting passed all the time in the fast lane, yet people get angry with me for going too fast in the other lanes. That's just my experience though. The bad: The free weight room. Basically, everything is overcrowded, and the etiquette is horrible. The free weight room has ONE power rack, which is insane for such a large gym. This is compounded by the hoards of teenagers that camp at the gym during peak time, sometimes leading to long queues to use any of the equipment. And the etiquette is some of the worst I have seen. People leave weights lying around on the floor or haphazardly put plates back wherever they feel, leading to a ton of clutter and general chaos. There is usually an attendant in the free weight room, yet they do absolutely nothing. Generally, the staff sucks. They do not greet you and just generally seem disinterested except when they are talking amongst themselves. The ugly: The locker rooms are just horrendous. Everything is filthy with dust everywhere. The lockers are super outdated, busted and rusting all over. There are often cockroaches in the dry sauna. But the worst is the showers. I think that was the final straw for me. It genuinely feels like a prison shower in that half the shower curtains are missing, and I even saw a bunch of blood on one of them. The ceiling is covered in mold; they don't even bother to paint over it. I don't need much, but I at least expect a clean and pest-free locker room. The state of it is shameful honestly. There is also no towel service, which is insane for how much you pay. Meanwhile, Harbor Fitness has towels, and the membership there is $76/month. All of this would be fine out of a low-cost, no-frills gym, but the cost of the regular individual membership is $96 per month, which is just out of line. The value is practically non-existent. They will also try to scam you when you try to cancel, saying there is a 15-day notice period, despite that being against the law in NYS. Bottom line, do yourself a favor and don't join this gym.

This gym is the best gym in the area by miles and I thoroughly enjoy my workouts here. Yoga classes are super fun, I love the instructors and unlike a lot of other gyms this place is truly home to a community. I enjoy seeing people of all ages and walks of life work out here, it's truly amazing and representative of the neighborhood. The high schoolers can be super annoying in the weight room and I know the staff has worked to curb their rowdiness by assigning them specific hours. I've heard a lot about towel service that used to be here but I've never experienced it, that would be nice to have back. The steam room and sauna are an absolute God send in the locker rooms and I really enjoy that the large pool has been segmented to avoid conflict with other swimmers. I've noticed if anything is out of order it doesn't stay that way for too long which I absolutely love. It's understandable in a big facility like this things will go out of order but maintenance is definitely on top of everything and deserves a shout out. It used to annoy me that the gym closed early but they definitely listened and extended their hours recently till 10 PM which I also greatly appreciate!!

The first session was simply a conversation with the trainer solely for the purposes of learning what was important to me so they could tailor not just the workouts, but also ways to help me feel inspired as a whole person. That made me feel so special. The trainers were sure to respect and be mindful of what could seemingly be small details but were important me. That for me is priceless! The physical space itself is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! It was designed with so much intentionality that it made the workout sessions even more enjoyable. The small group sessions are lovely. They aren't overstimulating and that was key for me. Every workout session left me feeling inspired, encouraged and renewed not just physically but mentally & emotionally. Lastly, Dani, the owner and founder, is an absolute PLEASURE to do business with and her passion for mind and body fitness is evident. She wants every client to get what they need to feel empowered. She makes herself accessible and easy to communicate with either by phone, email or text. As a nurse leader, I am deeply appreciative of what she has created at Very Personal Training and will continue to do support her business not only with my own personal training but also with group training events that I will host for my clinical team and friends.
