I really believe in supporting local but today was the end of that for SPI Hardware. I went to purchase an A/C filter, some deck screws, a few batteries and some bug spray. The prices seemed very high especially for the screws given that I had purchased some at Lowes recently. I decided to go across the bridge to Southerlands (10 minutes) and found all of it at half the price or less. I'm all for capitalism but that was outright 2x-3x over retail. I asked an employee about the screws and he simply said that everything costs more now. I got back and checked pricing against Lowes and Southerlands was a bit higher (10%) on a few products but nothing like I found here. I would have paid almost $100 more by staying on the island. Come on guys!

Came to pick up a few things I needed. I went through the self-checkout, and mind you, I know how…read moreto use it. The lady working the self-checkout was being overly helpful--in your face and in an annoying way. She kept pointing to the steps on the screen while my husband and I were talking among ourselves. Then she walked between us and pointed at what the screen was saying. Boy, oh boy, did that tick my husband off. She did it twice to him, and then she told me to select if I wanted a paper receipt or not. I turned around and said, "I know what the screen is prompting, thank you." I understand the lady was just trying to do her job, but someone working in retail should recognize when customers are talking or engaged in their own conversation while checking out. It's one thing to help when asked, but it's another when you prompt someone to do something they didn't ask for assistance with and when they're talking to each other. It comes off as rude, especially when my husband had already acknowledged her twice and said, "We got it," but she kept pushing.

We called four times and kept being told they would call back to help, never did. Also i wouldn't order any appliances here unless you want them three weeks later than the projected time you are told when you order. They have had half of our items just waiting there to be delivered and wanted to "wait until it was all in to deliver it" which we never opted for and doesn't make sense to have items waiting. Very unfortunate because we have always used Lowe's but this might be the worst location to go with.
