I have been to this location a few times a year since I have been in Nevada (2014). This is the place you go to when you need inexpensive tools or random gadgets. Sure, they are not known for top-notch quality, but for many things when the item will be used only sparingly, or for things like scissors or tape measures that really can't fail, this is the place to go. I would not recommend them for anything electronic, electric or expensive though, like generators, drills, reciprocating saws, pneumatic tools, engine cranes, etc. In the past, I have bought things like microfiber clothes for cleaning, inexpensive12-volt battery/alternator testers, gloves, padlocks, scissors, tape measures, magnetic flashlights, wire brushes, carabiners, hitch pins, super glue, power strips, and batteries (both regular and specialty electronic types, like for key fobs or tire pressure gauges). I've never been disappointed. The store has always been clean, brightly lit, well organized, and with plenty of employees on hand to help you. The one time I had a return, they even exchanged it for me without my receipt. Other times, when I had a coupon, which they always do in their emails and flyers, and it wouldn't scan from my phone, the cashier had one on hand to scan instead. So they are very customer-service oriented. Parking has always been easy in the plaza's large parking lot, and they are on the main drag (N. Carson St.), so access is easy. They also expanded their hours a few years ago, to 8 PM Monday-Saturday (and to 6 PM Sundays), when they used to close at 6 PM I think. read more

Was shopping for a small engine and found the Predator Engine in stock at Harbor Freight in Carson City however, I was concerned about a few measurements and asked an employee if there was any chance to undo the twist ties they attach the showroom model to the shelf so I could measure the shaft and bolt pattern. He went and returned with the manager and she said "definitely not"! I asked her what the issue would be and she stated to me that if I needed measurements I could look them up on their website. She hovered around me for a few moments as I stated I did not need her service any longer. Didn't seem very friendly and I just left. With in 7 day had to go back twice and return brand new McGraw air compressors that the motors were seized on right out of the box. They thenCharged me 48.00 for a restock fee because I didn't want to buy another one of their pieces of crap equipment... I have been a long time customer of Harbor Freight, but I will never buy another thing from them again... Went to Home Depot and bout brand new compressor that works perfectly. read more

In search of tires for the garden wagon, and since we were down to browse at the garden/nursery, we decided to stop by. We had to ask the worker, if they had the type and size of tires needed. He showed us the area, but they didn't have the ones we wanted. The store wasn't that busy, and we decided to wait til we got back to our area and check the other stores. Purchase this HF Heavy duty Trailer 1720 lbs, on Feb. 26th, 2024, opened it up and found the left tail light smashed. Went to HF in Carson City to see if they would replace under warrantee. None of HF in Nevada had the product or even a replacement tail light. The store manager at Carson City wouldn't give me credit or discount for damages on it or on more products I just purchased, (Tri-fold ramps, tie downs, etcn here is new purchase, receipt ordr # 03566935 $208.63 purchases). On this new purchase, she then tries to sell me on extended warrantee for the ramps, etc. when she wouldn't even help me on the warrantee of the trailer with the broken tail lights that I just purchased on the 26th. NOT good customer service from HF, and I'm going to write a negative support and lack of understanding by HF. I call the 800 number and they said it will take 12 weeks to get a tail light from China and I can't wait that long to get it registered to use, so I have to purchase an after market item to fix HF's lack of warrantee support. Yet they are pushing warrantee on almost every product you by at the counter. I was a big HF fan, and now I'm not thinking very positive with them. I called the store to ask if something was in stock since I was driving all the way from Tahoe. I was told yes. I get to the store and I'm told " oh it shows 4 in stock but it's still on the truck so you will have come back tomorrow". Walk in head exactly to the stuff I need then proceed to wait in line for over 20 minutes only to be told its cash only WTF why wasn't I told this while I walked in??????? So after I explain all of the things they could have done to prevent this I get told to calm down!!!! and the manager is serious!!!! Harbor Freight is the single best place to buy inexpensive tools. There may be better quality or better guarantees elsewhere but for a quick, inexpensive, alternative purchase,Harbor Freight is the best around. Over the years, I have saved thousands. Keep up the good work read more

Love to visit this store but do the employees have to smoke right in front of the store. I was in car with my kids and dog and an older lady with short blonde hair starts smoking right by my car in front of store. I asked her to move as it was blowing second hand smoke in my car. I agree with Wayne D's review, but I'll add my vote. Most of the tools are made-in-China junk, but the low prices reflect that. There is a small selection of "regular" hardware-store stuff, but mostly it's tools. Prices are reasonable, it's open until 8pm (customer friendly!), and the employees were helpful and pleasant. read more

I've been buying a good amount of supplies from Harbor freight recently and the service in this store, especially from the store manager, has been fantastic. I have Mac tools and I have snap on tools, in fact I have about $45,000 worth of snap on and the box and a 4 ton jack but when it comes to specializing a particular job and you're only going to do it once Harbor Freight Tools is the place to buy that tool. Why would anybody buy a expensive one time use tool? In my opinion, I highly recommend Harbor Freight Tools for the price and the product you get for that price. read more

A nice female employed got in front of my dad's wheel chair with a dolly full of boxes and parked it right in front if him so he couldn't pass. Then she walked off and left it there. I honestly always avoided this place because I had it in my head that all their stuff would be of such poor quality that I would not be interested or happy with any purchase I made. Well I stopped in to take a look around and I have to say I was impressed. Their store is clean, well stocked and they have things that I can't find anywhere else. I'm giving this spot in Carson two stars only because lovely Nancie actually helped me. There would be zero stars if it were not for her friendly and cheerful help! Had it not been for her I would have left to spend my almost 500$ budget somewhere else. Seriously, I've never felt like more of an inconvenience for having questions as to where the items I needed were located; let alone having questions as to what comes included, or better tools for my job. The gentleman working the floor seemed annoyed I would ask for help, and I had to do it quite a few times because he kept walking away before my question was even answered. I will be taking my time and my money elsewhere. I would rather spend the extra hundred dollars to people who gave me the time of day. I'm hoping Nancie finds a better job that matches her cheerful personality bc as of today my opinion is she's the best thing this Harbor Freight has going for it. read more
