Got my Class A on the first Test ! This school is straight to the point, just enough hours to get your license and not waste time or money. Great school! Highly recommend them. Just passed my DMV test last Friday for my Class A CDL on the first try. If you want one on one personalized 10 week training with solid instructors this is worth it. I researched other schools in LA and none in the area had the same personalized training but were priced similarly. Luis and Martin customize your classes around your work schedule which was great. I never drove a manual car or truck prior to this but with the help of Guillermo, Isidro, and Martin's different teaching styles they all provided their own techniques and pointers that were extremely helpful in operating the manual clutch both on the road and for the DMV skills portion of the test. The trucks were all in good condition and maintained. They prepared me for the entire DMV test which includes, outside truck inspection, truck cab inspection, Air break systems inspections, basic control skills test, and the DMV road test. The Reverse Straight & Off-Set Backing skills were most challenging for me early on in the course but by week 4 Guillermo, Martin and Isidro had me ready. I dunno why I am giving this review now, but I guess its because I referred a friend to go to this trucking school recently. I actually went to this trucking school back in 2010 with a buddy and I am actually glad this place is still open and teaching. Judging from the pictures, this place looks exactly the same as 10 years ago. :D For those wanting to attend this school: 1. When you go to the area, since its in an ACTUAL container yard, the roads that lead to this place are not the best (because trucks go in and out), meaning that you're going to have to drive really slow so you don't ruin the alignment or tires of your car. 2. My teacher back then was Misael, a really cool Hispanic Jew. My teacher back then let me work on my weaknesses instead of having to work on what he wanted. 3. What I really like about the training area is there are real truckers going in and out of this yard with real containers. This means you are baptized by fire and will actually have to move out of the way of other truck drivers. There's no cones to park and you park inbetween containers with only mere inches to spare on each side, which leads me to this point.... 4. Mainly practice BACKING UP. Anyone can drive forward. Currently I work in logistics and some truck drivers that come to my warehouse don't even know how to back up properly onto our dock doors. One of the tests at the DMV is backing into a specific area of cones. I believe during my test that once you started backing up on your test, you can't stop, adjust, move forward and try again. It has to be one smooth motion even if you are going really slow. They give you a certain number of chances, and by stopping and moving forward, you have to restart and burn one of your chances. Take most of your time learning how to back in-between containers when you are here. Do it slow and do it often. read more

Just passed my CDL Test on my first try at the DMV today. This is my first time in a commercial truck and my first time ever driving manual/stick shift. Can't recommend a better trucking school than Harbor because they go into depth with all of the inspections and maneuvers. Plus, they teach you how to drive a manual truck. ALL classes are one-on-one compared to some schools. Shout out to my team which was Ariel, Martin, and Guillermo who helped me through the process. When I first was recommended to this school was from a co-worker that had just got his CDL A and I had been wanting to get the same license. I looked up maybe 3-4 other trucking schools before considering this one, I'm definitely glad I chose this one. 30 hours for 2 grand ? Invest into yourself and don't be scared ! Harbor is the only school that offers a ONE on ONE program, so there's no other students to take away from your training. Martin is great about working with your schedule. I worked full time 5 days a week 12 hour shifts and Martin made it happen. You must show up with your CDL permit first, so study and take the DMV written tests before you attend training. You will get 2 hours each training day of seat time in the cone exercises, road time and pre-trip inspection training with manual transmission (No Automatics, so no restrictions on your license) with not another student in sight, just YOU. You will be so prepared for the DMV test it's not even funny. Not only does Harbor teach you how to pass the DMV skills test, but they teach you how to be a great driver and you will appear to be an experienced driver to any employer. Today I just passed my CDL Class A on my first try all thanks to Harbor trucking School. I came to this school not knowing anything about a commercial vehicle and it's components under the hood or stick shift. After taking their 40 hr course I feel confident giving ANY pre inspection trip to anyone and what to look out for if something does fail. I also learned how to drive stick shift which was smooth especially when they have 6 gears instead of the 10 gears other schools have. The instructors here really do care about you and know their STUFF. They give you reference points/tricks to help you perform a lot of the maneuvers that you will need to do at the DMV.
