THIS IS THE SCHOOL TO TAKE! (I just did--passed the first time) Oh my god this was stupidly EASY (and the quiz answers were funny!). I got a ticket (whatever) and I looked at a *lot* of reviews of traffic schools before trying this one. I finished in less than an hour. TONS of valuable information, but the tests were easy enough. They take care of everything. The hardest part was finding my "case #" (which is not the number on the yellow slip). For that I had to go to the Santa Cruz Superior Court website and search around. Also, you will need your "traffic school due date." That is really a guess. On the date you "officially request traffic school" (that part should be on the traffic court website) add (around?) 90 days. Well, that's what I did. Anyway, great company. And they have a phone number if you get stuck. I didn't need to call it. And for the police: Yes, I feel educated and am now a safer driver. read more

I completed the final test last December and still not got the confirmation letter. MI SOS neither got the confirmation letter and asked me to complete the course as soon as possible. And nobody response to me. read more

Why do I care what Bill is drinking?! People say this is to see if you are reading. If you can only see my notes. I have a hard time with recall, so I take notes on what is important. Funny thing is after spending so much time on doing what I thought might be on the test, I should have been looking for the "where's Waldo" type statements only. If you have ADHD or any form of learning disability this is going to frustrate the heck out of you. I want my money back. I question are the reviews even real? The format is long and outdated. I made a foolish mistake while I was driving but it's nice to know that I could take the course with their online traffic so that it doesn't report this mistake to my insurance company nor put points on my license. It's pretty straight forward for the most part and some of the materials overlap between each lesson so just read carefully and you should pass with no issues. I'm glad they can submit my results to the court electronically and it's also nice they have an in-person classroom option. read more

I completed my online course on September 29, 2022 and I never received my certificate to turn into the courts. I left 3 messages over the next month, but no one ever returned my phone call. On November 2, I was finally able to reach someone who promised to email the certificate by the next day, November 3. It is 11:39 pm on November 3, and I have yet to receive my certificate either by mail or email. I am completely dissatisfied with the level of honesty and customer service from this company. Yep, they got me! I decided NOT to fight my ticket because I was 100% at fault. I paid the fine and began my search for an online traffic school. I went to the DMV website and compared reviews on Yelp! Low and behold, I found DDG! The course provides some very valuable information while also having easy to understand content. There's a quiz after each section which helps to keep you fresh and alert for the final! I DID IT! I passed the first time and I received an immediate confirmation that is now saved in my email. I didn't have to bother showing up in person to provide proof. It was done in an instant-seamlessly and electronically! TIP: Try to take the final exam as close to completing the last course as possible. It will keep you from having to go back into the lessons as much to search for answers. I finished the final in 20 minutes but you are allowed an hour. read more

I was about to start a gimmicky on-line traffic school, albeit with loads of 5-star reviews, and decided to take another look because the one I was about to settle on (among many others) had reviews chock full of complaints about gimmicks and tricks to get you to pay more with useless extra fees for services which Defensive Drivers Group includes automatically. I just wanted to get through the exam without having to continually watch out for getting ripped off. I really didn't care which was the cheapest, just which one seemed the most responsible. Gimmicks and surprise fees do not give an air of trust. I wanted to get a fair test, pass it and feel sure that my paperwork would get properly sent in. So I found Defensive Drivers Group and the reviews were way more simple, solid and free of suggestions on what to avoid. And the only "gimmick"? As I was filling out the signup form, I got a popup, apparently encouraging me to hurry up, which chopped the price from $25 down to $15. So, even though I was almost done with the present signup form, I clicked the new link, filled out the form and paid $15. I've only paid $15 and never paid nor was asked to pay a penny more. My experience was precisely that, free of gimmicks and surprises. I know some people have whizzed through course texts. But, not only did I feel a responsibility to be honest (yeah, yeah) and read through it all, I also had lots of distractions. The TV was on. The kids were around. I had a beer. However, I do read pretty quickly when I put my mind to it, and some of it is actually interesting. I got through all the material in about a total of 3 hours spread over two evenings. The section quizzes are 2 or 3 questions with one nonsense phrase question to see if you actually read the material. The final exam is 25 questions, IIRC, and it's content is easier than the quizzes. That is, its less about remembering an exact phrase, law or statistic to the letter and making sure you're not actually a complete moron with a driver's license. Defensive Drivers Group's online course is well written and easy to follow. The quizzes and final are all multiple-choice and there are no "trick questions." By law, there is an "attention question" on each quiz, related to an irrelevant non-traffic sentence that is inserted randomly into each lesson to ensure the student's attention. The final is open-book, and you can "open-book" the quizzes as well by copying each chapter into an external document (e.g., in Word) before taking the quiz. (This is especially important if you're not good at memorizing random information like "Sally G has 22 pennies in her purse.") I finished the whole experience in 4 hours, including lunch break and multiple "relaxation breaks," and scored 100%. (70% is required to pass.) My only quibble is that the completion certificate does not include the name of the court or my docket number. I fear this shortcoming may make life difficult if the court or DMV loses the confirmation that the school has sent them, since I do not have documentation from the school that indicates that information. (I recommend in hindsight that users print or PDF their "account information" before completing the final exam, so they have a record of the information under which they registered.) I have emailed the school about this concern, and hope to get a response from them soon. EDIT 12/20/2015: Less than two hours after emailing the school, I got a prompt and courteous response from Scott of Defensive Drivers Group, which addressed and satisfied all of my concerns. In the unfortunate event that you find yourself having to do traffic school, then this is definitely your best bet. The team, website, and service is frankly the exact opposite of anything else associated with the DMV or traffic courts -- very professional, good at their jobs, and responsive. The website is very intuitive and well designed. The course and exams are well done and reasonable to both get through it and actually learn something along the way. Tip: you don't need to cut and paste anymore, you just open up the reading material in a separate window/tab and then can reference it during the final exam. DDG's good! Course content is good. They make sure you read all the content. Website is easy enough to navigate. Yelp offers some discount - so make sure you find their coupon on yelp and save some $$. After the Yelp coupon, the price is also very good. You take a short test at the end of each section, and then one final at the end of all the sections. You get two attempts to clear the final. You have 60 minutes to answer the questions. I haven't had a ticket in years. So a traffic school brush up was a good thing. This is my first online school. I found the information was helpful and practical. I took a defensive driving program years ago and found this program reinforced the guidelines I had learned. The new areas covered focused on technology and it's distractions, increased road rage, children and bikes, pedal and motorized. All very helpful. This course was very informative! I thought I was a well seasoned driver and knew it all! After taking this course, I actually learned a fair bit. The online course was fun, informative and very thorough! But best of all, it was inexpensive! I highly recommend doing your online traffic school through DDG. If you have a need to go to traffic school, this is the place to go. I looked for a site on yelp to clear a speeding ticket. I have done one other online traffic school but this was far better. It is setup to be easy to pass, as long as you do read the information in their lessons. None of the questions are designed to be particularly tricky, but you do have to read everything, to make sure you have found their detail question. That seems like a very fair price to pay to guarantee that you pay attention, as after all - you are supposed to be doing school so that you will be a safer driver. read more

It seems like I go to traffic school every 5 years, and the physical classes are just so tedious (Improv - not funny or entertaining, regular - so painfully dry and boring!). This time I qualified to do it online (yay)! So, I went to Yelp for a local online traffic school, and basically liked the name & the price of Defensive Driver's Group... Traffic school in my pjs, taking breaks whenever I wanted to, etc. made it my best experience with any Traffic School, to date! I was surprised that I wasn't bored, and actually learned a few things. They mixed up the material with videos and such, so it wasn't completely monotonous. It is still Traffic School, but I give it a thumbs up, and would do it again (should I be so lucky). read more

I selected this on-line traffic school because of its high Yelp rating. I completed the entire course and passed the final exam in less than 2 hours. Basically there are 12 sections and you have to complete with a quiz after each section, followed by a final exam at the end. Each quiz has 2 real questions plus 1 random question (the answer to the random question is in the materials, like "Joe has a pet cat"). The final exam has 25 questions and is "open book". Honestly it shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes to complete the final exam (you have an hour). Most of the questions are ridiculously easy and only a few require you to remember factual information (like how many feet before making a turn should you turn on your turn signal). The test was WAY easier than the written test at the DMV (which itself is pretty easy if you have even a minimum level of driving experience). I probably could have finished the whole thing in an hour but I actually tried to read the materials. If you open the webpage in 2 windows, you can keep the materials open while you take the quizzes. Don't bother trying to memorize all the specific laws and regulations mentioned in the materials, just go back and look them up if you need to. Most of the questions are general in nature and the answers should be obvious (if not, then you really are a terrible driver!) read more

I took the online Defensive Drivers Group course for the state of New Jersey for the purposes of lowering my monthly auto insurance. I paid $14.95 up-front to access the course and was not charged for anything else. The state required 360 minutes of activity, so when you finish the 18-or-so lessons, you just have to leave your browsers open until the final test becomes active. The lessons were well organized, easy to understand, and clear. There are state-mandated "gotcha" questions in the lessons to make sure you actually read them. The final text was quick and easy -- it only took a few minutes to finish and 80% is a passing score. After completing, I was immediately taken to a PDF of my passing certification which I then uploaded to my auto insurance website. My discount takes effect this month! I did some research before choosing this option for NJ. It was the cheapest online courses available, which was important to me since my purposes of taking it was to save money. Course is quite easy to take on your convenient time. The Final exam test is much easier than the some of the quizzes after each lesson, as a few questions in the quizzes were quite confusing. I was able to finish the on-line course and pass the final test in less than 5 hours and honestly the course was informative and interesting. It's a lot of reading and they want to make sure you don't skip lessons, so after every lesson there is a very short test with one security question that you can find out only if you read the lesson carefully. It's a question that has nothing to do with traffic school (e.g. Lauren likes coffee). I also used a 50% rebate discount that popped up when I was trying to create my profile, so it was even cheaper at the end...only USD 14.95, I don't think you can beat that! Easy to follow the course. I passed the actual test with a 100% score. Not that I am smart, but the questions are more of a common sense nature. No frills, no audio course, I recommend it. Although it's not fun getting a speeding ticket and spending time in traffic school, I decided to see what I learn from the experience. I like to think of myself as a defensive driver and the writing provides explanations and encourages a good outlook, not just a lot of rules to memorize. I took the California exam passed with 96% in 3.5 hours. Note that some of the older reviews suggest you can copy/paste into another document and search for keywords during quizzes, but this is not the case anymore (copy/paste doesn't work). There were 11 sections, with short quiz at end of each, and a final exam. Although I passed on first try, some information I didn't know was that California law only lets you try test twice with a provider and if you fail, you need to pay and sign up again. read more

I used Defensive Drivers Group a couple years ago for a moving violation ticket and decided to use it again this time. Price has gone up to $28, it was actually listed as $24.95 about a month ago, but since you can only take traffic school every 18 months or more it's not too bad. Scott Plamondon provided great support when I wanted to double check to make sure everything went through. You enter your personal info when registering, with ticket and court number, make sure to double check before proceeding because you won't see that page again and that information doesn't get sent to you in e-mail. They'll ask you some verification questions along the lines of what your dog's name is or car color, etc... to verify you as you do the lessons. Pretty simple format. There's an introduction, 11 lessons, then an open book, timed 25 question final that you get two chances at. You get up to 2 hours so there's really not much of an excuse for not passing. After introduction and lessons there's a 3 question quiz on the material you just read. The last question is always a check to see if you actually read similar to what color was John's shoes or how many cupcakes did Mary eat? After you pass the final you will be logged out. You will NOT be able to log back in. It gets automatically transmitted to the court for the ticket you put on the first page. Since I worry about things like this I e-mailed support to verify and got a timely response from Scott. He followed up the next day and confirmed my case was closed The only real issue I had was during the final when I click open book and choose a lesson I couldn't easily browse between the lessons because there wasn't a back arrow to use on the frame so I had to scroll back. read more

I did the online format. I signed up on a Tuesday and was done by Wednesday. Super fast. Super straightforward. Relatively cheap. I have done a "comedy" class in person . . .omg . . . never ending . . . and it was literally a drill sergeant who thought he had a good sense of humor. lmao (NOT) 11 lessons - maybe 20+ min each with 3 question quiz at end of each. You can take each lesson quiz as many times as you need. TRICK!! There is one random info (jane likes rainbows) bit of info in each lesson which is on the quiz to make sure you are reading. Once you complete all quizzes you can take the final exam. Final exam: you have one hour for maybe 20 questions (maybe less) and you are allowed do it open book by opening another window while you are taking the test. It took me less than 5 hours but you can probably do it even quicker if you really give priority to speed vs content. But since you're there might as well read all those grizzly stats about texting and driving and protocol for turning through a bike lane etc. . . stuff you forget and is good to remember. read more
