I started thinking I might race some again butter the club offered a pleasant environment to train, broaden my training to more strength and things that help in aging and Supreme was a great plane. It has all the equipment with staff to help, has good classes with a lot of interesting and friendly people, many of whom are still there a decade later. It lacks almost entirely the annoying lot loud, inconsiderate types I have seen in other places. They pricing is very competitive and I even got my non-athletic wife to work with a trainer and now she has started with it for a year and a half, which is surprising and important fitter our family as we age.

Peter Kraus Fitness opened in April 2019. I visited on the opening day and got to take a tour of…read morethe facility, which was led by Peter. I was so excited to meet Peter since I loved watched him on the Bachelor. My hopes were very high when I met him and he did not disappoint!! Peter was very personable and his passion for fitness was very clear. He was so excited about his business opening and graciously allowed my husband and I the opportunity to work out free of charge at the facility a few times to try it out. He even let me take a picture with him and went the extra mile to comment on the picture on Instagram. The facility itself is extremely clean, well organized, and even well decorated. There are several weight and cardio machines to choose from. All the machines are relatively new and accessible. There's even a training area covered in astroturf. They use this area for classes led by different instructors, including Peter. The classes are super fun and the instructors do a great job of training their members and making the classes fun. The gym has a great location in downtown Middleton. It's near several shops, apartments, and even a brewery right next door if you want to reward yourself after a great workout! There's even a bunch of green space in front. I was definitely considering becoming a member until we moved about 20 minutes North. We are thinking of moving back to the Middleton area one day so if we do, I will definitely be joining Peter Kraus Fitness.

Often times there's no soap in the soap dispensers in the men's room, the men's urinal, there's only one, hasn't been working for six weeks, machines breakdown and they don't fix them, and pads where you put your legs or arms are totally worn through the vinyl deep into the padding, and it will stay like that for months, and still nobody is replacing those. Absolutely pathetic.

For that reason and other factors, I canceled my membership, but I was charged for months afterwards. To keep this short, when I called to ask for a refund, the staff were friendly, but it ultimately is up to the manager, who is currently Josh, to issue a refund. Josh is very hard to reach - he's always "busy" (at least, that's what it feels like he instructs his staff to say). He made several false promises to me about my refund being on its way and when I asked him to send over documentation, he said "You don't believe me?" and he never sent over a single document. In the end, it took me 15 phone calls and 6 months to obtain my refund. His email is gm@crunchmadison.com but I wouldn't expect a response. Your best bet is to ask for him directly when you call or to physically stop in the gym and wait for him to come out of his office.

I wish they had more than 2 smith machines though as they are very popular machines and I typically always have to wait. Would be nice if they posted hours/closings for holidays on the website and Facebook page so you can plan accordingly for that. Frustrating that some members slam weights and do not re-rack weights as it is posted on signs all over the gym. Exercise classes are great and so if the rooftop area!

The heavyweight lifters corner still smells like the worst smell in the world you can think of. I see they have a private area for women so they don't have to endure sexism. The one week that I was in there, I had a guy look at me really weird and felt uncomfortable. It's just not the place that it was when it opened. Except for figuring your membership cost out in two minutes to be everything you've gotten in your pocket.

The carpeted areas are often dirty. The machine areas and machines are rarely cleaned.
