The door was open and when I walked in the gal behind the counter gave me a "you don't belong here look" and said "Hello" with the tone of a question. I've been practicing for over a decade but took 2 years off due to car accidents and previous studio shut down in COVID. New in Madison area and wanted to find a good studio to jumpstart. I've always preferred hot classes, Bikram style, like 105'F with 50%+ humidity. I'd love a good sweat and I found easier to relax and stretch in the heated environment. Learned there are 4 locations and Middleton was the one I attended. Initial impression was cute place with vibrant color. They offer showers and a waiting area to read/decompress with hot tea and filtered water. I signed up online and showed up for my 1st hot class. Parking wasn't hard and it was free. Walked upstairs and checked in at the counter. I saw members can get free towels; otherwise, it's $1 or $2 depending on the size. There were about 20 students in the class and I ended up towards the opposite side of the entrance which it isn't the best spot. I had a hard time hearing the instructor (no mic and loud music). Given it's my first class, I thought the instructor should ask who's there for the 1st time and if there were any injuries. No one asked so I just have to modify as needed due to my herniated spine. Given this is my 1st class in almost 2 years, I took it slowly and participated as much as I could which was still over 80% of the class time. I didn't sweat at all. The room was warm but definitely not hot or humid. My mat towel was dry which was different from all of my previous practices. I later found out the temperature was set to around 90'F and no one knows if a humidity level was turned on. I'm glad that I went as it was a good way to try out but I'll go back again to try a couple more classes before deciding if I want to be a member. read more

In my opinion this is the best yoga studio ever! The space is gorgeous, roomy and provides everything that helps relax the mind and body. The yoga room is huge. You have plenty of space between you and your neighbor yogis. It also have a unique floor that looks like rubber nesting...not sure how to describe it but it's not hard floors, a bit cushiony and still supportive. The instructor was great: understanding the different skill levels, knowing when to challenge, and was hands on correcting form. After class, you can continue to relax in their amazing tea lounge. The design was well thought out, providing a relaxing atmosphere. I was ready to spend the night. I'm also excited that they'll be opening a new location downtown in July. It won't be long that I'll become a regular. read more

Love the layout of this studio. It's super clean and comfortable. The classrooms are large which allows for attempting more advanced poses without worrying about getting into your neighbors space. I'm new to Madison as of two days ago. I was able to do a free class, as well as ty a $40 unlimited month. They also offer $30 off a membership if you try 10 different types of classes during your first month. $69 unlimited classes (except Barre classes which are additional cost) is a good deal! I did a 75 min flow class with Joe. I thought it was slower paced than I'm used to from CorePower Yoga classes, but boy am I sore today! Feels great to get back into it! I loved the hands on adjustments he gave as well as how laid back he was- some teachers are so serious. I really enjoyed it and am going back today for another class :) read more

Dragonfly has pretty much ruined me for future yoga studios. I've been to the Middleton, Fitchburg and Madison studios and this is the biggest and nicest but I love them all! They have a great intro deal and I can see how they get you hooked. There is such a great variety of classes with options all day long. I loved trying them all. I usually like yoga classes that feel more like a workout and they certainly have those with their core classes and yogaup, but sometimes I want a more relaxing stretch and they have great options for that as well! I haven't found an instructor I don't like and I love the variety. They also do a great job with the little touches- from the cool (sometimes scented) towels at the end of class to the tea room. It always feels too quick to head outside after all the sweat from hot yoga so cooling down with a cup of tea and socializing a bit is the perfect way to end a session! read more

I come here for the Barre classes. The atmosphere is lovely, and there's a class I can take just about every day if I want to (sometimes 3! lol). The Barre classes here are NOT the best I've ever had. But they ARE the best I've had in the Madison area. Most of the other places around town offer frantic workouts with very little time to stretch--they make you feel more like a fraggle than a lithe and limber ballerina. Not so at Dragonfly. The instructors seem to know the importance of stretching after working each muscle group--I just wish they'd do it more. My favorite part about this place is that it's the closest to my home. I live out in the boonies and am grateful to have the chance to go to ANY barre classes. But I hate, hate, HATE the parking. It's always full. They DO offer free valet parking, but that makes me extremely uncomfortable. I find myself walking from across Junction Rd, which can be scary during the darker winter evenings. PRO TIP: Join the first month for $40, and take 10 DIFFERENT classes to get the next month for $69 (instead of $99 membership or $150 month-to-month). I didn't read the "different" part and ended up not getting the second month for $69, which sucked, because I worked really hard to make it to so many classes. If you have standing commitments during the week, you might not be able to do it. I'll admit, it left a slightly bad taste in my mouth. Still, I will continue to go. My body feels better than it has in awhile. I bought a 20-class pass after my first month, just to see how things go with the warm weather fast approaching. Supplementing my trail running with something like Barre is perfection for me. I hope you'll give it a try! read more

I only got to experience this studio for about a month, during the trial membership, but I was happy with the studio overall, just interested in trying different studios in the area as well. They offer quite a few classes all day, but I only took the hot yoga/slow flow classes and some yin. The floors here are really unique, providing a soft, giving, surface that might mimic moist earth. The studio itself is very beautiful, and the Downtown and Sun Prairie locations are equally stunning. The rooms are big and sunny with a windowed wall at each location. Some of the classes end with teacher administering cool face towels with essential oil. It works great for wiping everything down after class as well. Sometimes I wasn't able to book a class for the day, because they would fill up before I could sign up during a certain time of the day, due to other commitments like work. I liked that the teachers here seemed to promote experimentation with postures that might seem intimidating or only for the very experienced, but trial and error is part of learning! read more

I had my first class here. It was free which is nice, but I already paid for a new client one month fee. I didn't have a great experience with this location. At the check in desk, there were FOUR workers behind it, all looking at some screen very distracted and busy. Only one of them was busy helping another client. As I stood there, none of them even said "Hi" "Welcome" "We'll be right with you" So I felt so awkward just standing there like okayyy. Why are they so unfriendly... Three of them were doing nothing just starting at some screen so busy lol. Then the checkin in girl helped me. I said it's my first time here. She checked me in but didn't bother to give me a tour of the facility. There were three other workers just standing there. And i guess they don't feel like welcoming a new potential client and give a short 2 min tour. She just pointed to the room where i was supposed to go from her seat. Um okay where do i put my shit tho? I just had to figure it out myself. They don't even have lockers there. Just shelves to put your belongs. Very unsafe, they have 4 locations, Im sure they can afford lockers... The class had four other clients, very small. One of the moves, I later noticed i was doing it WRONG. The teacher didn't even bother to come and correct me LOL. This other girl was doing it wrong too. She didn't correct her either. LOL. I have taken many classes at my old gym with 20 girls in it. The teachers there always come and correct the moves and teach you to do it right! And I loved that! Like they cared about the class. This teacher wasn't telling people to incorporate breathing in this class. Which makes a huge difference in this exercise. I wanted to find a new favorite gym but this experience let me down. Never had such a cold reception at a hot yoga, barre studio. read more

The studio is crazy big and amazing! The women's bathroom/shower/changing area is the best I've ever seen. I tend to visit during my lunch hour and always have to change from work clothes to workout clothes and then back to work clothes. There is SOOOOO much room, I've never had to wait to change. That is big on my list. Although the name is Dragonfly Hot YOGA, I don't do a lot of yoga. I have tried a yoga class or two when that's the only thing I can fit in my schedule and have no complaints but the reason I started going to Dragonfly is because of Barre. They have a couple of Barre options. I like the ones that incorporate cardio into them (usually called Barre Bootcamp) the best. That way I can really get my heartbeat up. That being said the other Barre classes are great too. They get you shaking and that's exactly what you want out of a barre class. One day, a few weeks ago, I decided to try their Power Up class! The class incorporates weights, cardio and abs. I am not kidding when I say this is one of the hardest workouts I've ever done. The exercises would be hard in a mild room but add in the fact the room is heated to 95 degrees and WOW! Every single piece of clothing I wear is drenched when I leave the room but gosh do you feel good. The first few times, I literally thought I may throw up. That intense. I no longer feel like that anymore. You wanna know why? "The workouts don't get easier, you just get stronger!" For my body, I NEED hard workouts to really see changes so I've loved the class from day one and continue to love it. It has become my favorite part of Tuesdays and Thursdays! They have such a variety of classes, if you don't want something so intense, there are plenty of options for you! I'd totally recommend to anyone. I recently became a Dragonfly/Flyght Cycle Member. My wedding is next year and I've got GOALS! The membership is $149 and is unlimited classes at all Drangonfly studios and the Flyght Studio. With the membership I no longer have to bring my own towel or yoga mat. That makes it nice! read more

Love this place. The yoga studios are large and they cap the classes so you can actually move and stretch while working out. That seems like a simple idea but it is somewhat hard to find in Madison. The instructors are also respectful, helpful, and body positive. They have many different class types from yin to a HIIT cardio class in their hot room (but seriously who invented that and thought it would be a good idea? Let's keep our heart rate at 170 for 60 minutes in a 95 degree room ). The studio is somewhat pricey but it's competitive within the Madison area and if you get a membership, you can visit any of the studio locations. read more

I purchased two one-month trial passes awhile back during an event at this location. I paid in cash and was told that two accounts were set up and ready to go in the computer system whenever we wanted to use them. I gave Dragonfly a call prior to using them to make sure we were good to go, and "Tola" the manager told me that the accounts weren't in the system, and even went so far to accuse me of lying. I'm pretty frustrated. I'm not sure why the accounts aren't there, but being accused of lying by a manager and being robbed of our money are horrible business practices. I'm surprised that a place that treats potential customers like this is still in business at all. read more

I really like this studio. It big, clean and inviting. I also like all their different class options. There are a ton of times to choose from that could fit almost anyone's schedule. I like that they have a schedule you have to reserve a space. Then you always have a spot in the class. I've been to other studios where is first come first serve and it is super crowded. The teachers and front staff are always really nice. I come for their $5 flow and did their groupon because unfortunately I cannot afford a monthly membership. I don't think they are any more expensive then other studios but they definitely cater to a more upscale clientele and if I could afford $100 a month I wouldn't mind paying it here because everything I mentioned above. read more

This studio is where my love for yoga blossomed. The decor is modern and relaxing. The staff is friendly. There's a wide variety of classes throughout the day. The first class of the day is at 5:30am MWF & the last class is 8 or 9pm. I enjoyed the majority of the classes at this studio. My favorite classes were Flow with Suki and Mad Power Fitness with Amy. There are many instructors but these two instructors will make you fall in love with fitness and Yoga. You'll definitely become hooked and want to come back more. read more

Suki is a teacher straight from the heavens, always sharing her beautiful truth and crafting classes beyond movement. Kaila is so empowering and intentional, and unbelievably kind and talented in so many facets. Carrie's relocation is hard on the whole community, and while we miss her jokes, and raw motivation, her upbeat spirit lives on while she is on the east coast! I've been doing hot yoga for a few years now and when I moved to Madison was happy to discover that this studio was nearby. It's HUGE. I've never been in a yoga studio so big before though I wish there were more mirrors; in the main studio there are only mirrors on the back wall and I like to be able to check my form when I yoga - here it is impossible. I also find that the room isn't hot enough. I assumed that all hot yoga studios heat to the same level but just checked my old studio in Minneapolis and see that they set the heat to 105 whereas at Dragonfly it is set at 95. I need a few more BTUs. I really liked that at the end of class the instructor gave us time to do whatever poses we wanted to do. I get hooked on certain poses and if I end class without being able to do it I am disappointed so this alleviated that. I bought a 10-class pack and will happily use all 10, but then I'm going to check out The Studio just down the street. read more

Truly, Dragonfly is the answer to what I've always been asking for in a yoga studio and fitness center. What many other yoga and fitness centers struggle to achieve- Dragonfly has down to an art! Dragonfly truly lives up to their mission of "every shape, every size, every person" and creates an atmosphere that is truly supportive and encouraging. Beyond that, the studio is spic-and-span clean, as well just downright lovely, fun (love the Tea Lounge!), and colorful. The teachers at Dragonfly are knowledgeable and supportive teachers, and there is great offering of classes, events, and fitness regimens. The studio culture strikes a great balance between offering the support needed to have anyone engage in yoga and fitness, but also offering ways for you as a yogi and participant to push yourself in terms of your yoga practice and level of fitness. On many occasions the staff have been so incredibly supportive- whether a class wasn't the right fit at the time and I needed a cold bottle of water, or if I wasn't quite getting a particular asana or position they are always ready to help in a way that never made me feel talked down to or put on the spot. The other thing I really love about Dragonfly is that they do find a way to integrate mindfulness and spirituality into the yoga practice that is very accessible and respectful- for example there are these thoughtful quotes on the board by the lockers everyday. However, yoga isn't about talking or reading- yoga is about doing, and that truly is the focus of all classes- actually doing yoga. I've been able to try most of the yoga classes- and they range from more relaxing classes like Aroma Yin (think delicious scents and relaxed poses) to yoga classes that really push you like Flow, Core Flow, as well as Flow & Yin (think lots of sun salutations, balances, holds, good music, and heat). The other great thing about Dragonfly is that they offer more than just yoga. They also offer Barre and Pound Rockout Workout. I've really enjoyed the Barre classes I've taken; the classes combine Pilates and ballet exercises and work on very specific groups of muscles. Definitely challenging, but a great workout! I am also personally a very big fan of Pound Rockout Workout. In these classes, the routine goes through a combinations consisting of moves from Pilates and dance, and you are armed with a pair of drumsticks. I definitely look forward to the Pound class every week as it is my chance to burn off steam by pounding my drum sticks, and put in a great workout combining muscle toning and cardio. I am always sore the day after (in a good way, not a painful way!), and the Pound classes have definitely helped me to build strength that compliments my yoga practice. When it comes to a yoga center and fitness studio in Madison, I'm convinced that Dragonfly is the best! read more

So far the best hot yoga in Madison that I've found! (And I've gone everywhere!) The atmosphere is very calming; ambient music, fellow students are respectful and quiet before class. Really helps set the tone that hot yoga should be! There isn't that rushed-gym feel that I got at other health clubs. The facility is spotless. I've been on a trial membership for a month and have enjoyed the variety of hot yoga classes (barre isn't my thing). The instructors are knowledgeable and top notch. I had unused class passes that expired. I didn't use them in time due to a medical condition. I asked the studio if they would please extend them and they did so graciously. Contractually they didn't have to extend them, but they saw the value in keeping a long time customer satisfied and for that I am truly grateful. Dragonfly cares about their customers and makes going there a warm and welcoming experience. I will continue to attend classes there and I enjoy every minute of it. I like this place. I like this place so much that I bought a 20 class pass. Thank gosh I didn't do the membership and they offer the class passes due to an ankle sprain that put me out of commission for a few months. Everyone here is very friendly! My only complaint is that they don't have enough "mild" or unheated classes. My body cannot handle the 95 degree rooms without wanting to pass out and just be miserable during the entire class. The "hot yoga" part is a bit misleading. I was looking for actual hot yoga (104-105), not just the room heated a little warmer. The studio itself is very nice and clean. The front desk was helpful. I've been going to Dragonfly for over 2 years and I don't know where I would be without it! My experience at Dragonfly has not only made me stronger physically, but also mentally. The instructors and the variety of class offerings are awesome. They offer yoga, barre and cardio/weight infused yoga/barre classes in both a hot and a cool studio. I can find a class every day of the week to fit my mood and energy level. The instructors take the time to get to know your name, assist you with poses and provide words of encouragement. The facility is aesthetically pleasing and the front desk staff will be greeting you by name after a couple weeks of classes. I had never done yoga before going to Dragonfly and it truly is an environment for all sizes, ages and experience levels. I've always felt welcome and never intimidated. If you are thinking about trying yoga for the first time or are an experienced yogi, I highly recommend Dragonfly. Dragonfly really does offer something for everybody in a friendly and welcoming environment. read more

This yoga studio is nothing short of perfect! I was visiting from Houston and I called to find out a bit about the studio. Marie answered the phone and was just a lovely breath of fresh air. She informed me that me fist class was complimentary and the I may barrow both a mat and towel for my chosen class. Then, I arrived to find an immaculately appointed studio, shower area, tea/relaxing room and studio space complete with candle light in Windows. My instructor was also fabulous, Claire- the class was just what I needed and was missing from being away from my home joy yoga studio, Houston. I can no recommend this yoga studio enough!
