I went with a friend for dinner on a Wednesday night. There were a couple of tables outside occupied and maybe five tables inside that were full. Not busy. We sat for 10 minutes before our server appeared. We ordered a glass of wine each and calamari to share before our entrees . The calamari was very tender and small bites, not big rings, which can be tough. Our entrees showed up after we had been there about an hour! I had a warm mushroom salad with shrimp and my friend had Halibut and chips. The salad was tasty but quite greasy. The halibut was piping hot but the fries were lukewarm. I asked if they were short staffed and our server said no, that they just weren't used to being so busy on a Wednesday !! They did not look busy. I want so much to love this place because it is close to home. But sadly it will remain a second choice for me. read more

The Harbour Street Fish Bar just sounds cool. It is similar to many of the local restaurants - cold draft beers, a few unique cocktails, fish n chips, and a small variety of other dishes. What sets it apart is the service and atmosphere. They have super friendly staff who ensure you have a fantastic experience. And on Saturday evenings, they have live music! Really enjoyed the excellent music and party atmosphere, small dance floor but generally sufficient. Food was ok. The soup was very salty, steak was slightly overcooked for medium but tasty, seafood pasta was fine. Service. Hostess was a bit unfriendly but I can understand she has a tough job. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Food took a long time since the place was packed. Washrooms: 2 females and 1 male, clean, 4/5. The Cee Beer is the 2nd beer I have ever tasted. The halibut and chips were fantastic, hot and cooked correctly. The batter for the fish is absolutely wonderful. Horrible service! Rude waiter from start to finish .... Told us we can seat down but no food will show up for at least 45-60 min. We tried to be flexible so we said fine - we'll drink for 45 minutes.., jokingly ... No sorry, no apologies... I'm wondering what the owners are thinking ... Anyway - a few minutes later the food menus appear - no drinks. I asked the waiter what's going on .. he said they don't have any drink menus or prices... So we keep guessing what they have until we hit something... not the greatest dining experience so far. This was our first visit to Harbour Street Fish Bar this past weekend. My husband and I both ordered halibut fish and chip. Fresh fish and best coleslaw ever had. We tried to go back on Monday for lunch but were disappointed that it was closed on weekdays. We were told it would open daily starting July. Sometimes I have difficulty choosing from a menu because the food is... so so.. This time we were challenged because the menu was very interesting. It does not happen too often but this time I wanted to order a little bit of everything on the menu. The staff were amazing. I noticed a lot of teamwork here. They pay attention to detail. There was a live band and they were fantastic. The evening was wonderful. The restaurant was very clean including the bathrooms. We ordered the mussels to share and we were not disappointed. The mussels were excellent!! There was a garlic sauce maybe some fresh basil. MMmmmm worked its magic on us. My daughter ordered a seafood linguini/pasta dish. The plate had pasta, huge shrimp, scallops and other types of seafood. I ordered a seafood pie with Caesar salad. The Seafood pie had large shrimp, scallops and potatoes. Delish. This was my first time at Harbour Street Fish Bar. We ordered from here because it was closeby and didn't want to venture out too far during covid. Thankfully I didn't listen to some of the reviews on here, because we were more than happy with what we had. We ordered for pickup: Halibut and poutine - halibut was super crispy and well battered. Cooked perfectly, and good sized portions. Poutine was solid - lots of cheese curds and gravy! Could have used a bit more tartar sauce and coleslaw, but otherwise no issues. Catfish and chips (fries) - great portion size, seasoning and crispiness. Fries were crispy, but if left in the box any longer I could see how they might get steamed and soggy. Fish tacos - really good coleslaw, chipotle dip and crisp fish. Comes with a big portion of fries... Again, really good. Calamari - standard fried calamari Coconut shrimp - great flavours and dip Definitely recommend this spot, especially if you can eat it very shortly after pickup since the fish and chips will lose their crunch after being in a box for a long period of time. read more

Came up from Angus last night to have dinner and watch live music which they frequently have. The space is square in shape which is the best for watching live music. The restaurant is in a new and pleasant looking plaza. They have an adequate choice of beers and wines. My partner ordered a burger and fries while I had the halibut fish and chips. I had the choice of non battered fish which I ordered and really enjoyed. The fries are hand cut, that is, not those awful frozen packaged that many restaurants offer today. They were very tasty. The fish was likely pan fried and cooked to perfection; very fresh and tasty. Had a bite of my partners burger which was very fresh and nicely cook. The server was very friendly and she did a wonderful job looking after us. We enjoyed the music and dancing to the music. Great place to spend an evening. read more

We tried take out fish and chips and found that this was a big mistake. While the battered halibut was close to OK the fries were the worst ever encountered - limp -discolored -barely warm and three times more than we would ever eat. Maybe that is how they account for the $21.40 per order. Most of this meal went into the garbage. In addition the cup of salad was equally terrible. When I called in to speak to the owner I found the order taker defensive and although I left my name and phone number I never did get a call. Crab cakes tasted fresh but for $15, it wasnt worth it - maybe if they gave us three pieces lol. Warning to cranberry resort guests with the privilege discount card, this establishment does NOT honour the 15% discount on food, promised by Cranberry, if its during live entertainment nights. The menu has changed since CoVid so it's not the menu you see in the app images. (I didn't get an image of the new menu). The prices have increased drastically from the prior menu. I guess when a restaurant has to cut it patrons down by half then it needs to double its prices to stay in business. Not a fault of the business but of the climate today. The food was good. We had the ribs $28, seafood linguine $33, calamari $16, a beer and a house wine. Total before tip $108. Service was good, food was good, patio was nicely decorated with lights, flower baskets and planters, all CoVid rules being followed. No reservations, first come first seated. read more

I am torn writing this review. Let me start by saying the place looks great, and the food was fantastic. Would love to return for more. I would have given it 5 stars but the hostess made it impossible. She was rude and unpleasant. She must have skipped kindergarten where they teach basic manners because we heard no greeting of any kind, no please, no thank you and were actually pointed towards our table without a word. I get that it is a busy happening spot but a "Good Evening" goes a long way and it doesn't take that long. Our waitress on the other hand, was nice and sweet. read more

What a pleasant surprise to discover this restaurant. We had one of the best pasta dishes ever, here. It was a seafood linguine with dill perfectly cooked and seasoned. We also had white fish and chips with a salad. The salad was unlike other fish and chips shops, these guys made some effort to make it a good salad. Fish was moist and tasty. And for desert we had their ribs and french fries. Ribs we good for a seafood restaurant. Fries were excellent. If you are staying at Blue Mountain Resort you should definitely come here. I'm not sure why people have given this place low ratings- it was fantastic! My family and i just got through skiing and were hungry, and though the restaurant seemed a little secluded and quiet (because of the area), it was actually really nice inside! Love the fireplaces, tables, silverware, etc. It had a great ambience for a family to have dinner. I got the fish n chips- atlantic halibut. Though it was bland, the fish was huge and fried to perfection with yummy natural cut fries. It was served on newspaper (so cute!), and the coleslaw was my absolute favorite. They added dill in the coleslaw and it was genius! My brother got the beef and mushroom pie. He really liked it. Totally reminiscent of england! Mother got the 8oz ny strip steak with mashed potatoes and vegetables. She loved her steak and wouldnt share with us lol! The mashed potatoes were very buttery and creamy. My dad got the fish n chips- haddock. He couldnt stop thanking me for choosing the place because it hit the spot for sure! Service was excellent, our waitress was very conversational and kind. It was completely dead at about 5 pm on a saturday, but picked up throughout the night. There was a stage set up with band equipment- maybe open mic nights. Stay away, will not go back. So many other good restaurants in the area to try instead. Was there last weekend with a group of friends for dinner and to see the band. Dinner took over an hour and a half to arrive, cold, disorganized and of poor quality. Staff disrespectful and after 20 minutes of trying to pay my bill, when I only left a 10% tip ( reflecting the poor service from waiter) the waiter flung the loonies and toonies on the tray at me and said "I don't need your money". One friend even tried to speak with the Manager to address her concerns but the Manager was also rude, spoke negatively about her table and kitchen staff and said she didn't want to hear about it. We are locals, live in the area on the weekends and love Collingwood - we eat out often and love supporting local businesses. I have been to the restaurant a couple of times in the last year and left unimpressed. This experience was the worst - we all said NEVER AGAIN. read more

Very good service. We were the only ones there along with one other party. I ordered the lobster bisque which was very delicious and flavourful. For my meal I ordered the appetizer bam bam shrimp which was better than I expected. My cousin got the Halibut & chips and said it was perfectly breaded and not oily. I had high hopes for this place since a lot of people recommended to me but I was really disappointed. Everything was terrible. My husband and I both ordered the Haddock & Chips to go .boy was that a mistake! Atleast if we had sat down to eat, I could have said something about the food. I will say that the wait staff was trying; however they were severely understaffed for the evening (we visited on a Sunday). We were served our appetizers 1.25 hours after after we arrived. The food seemed fairly average although they had some unique menu items including pot pies. This restaurant is a great place for a meal. Located in Cranberry Mews the decor is great. The atmosphere is upscale yet warm and friendly. The service is great. The menu selection is expansive. Although it is advertised as a fish fry, they have steaks and a wide selection of non seafood. We had fish and chips, they were excellent. Large portion, perfectly crispy, not greasy. The Fries were fresh cut and perfectly done. The coleslaw was different, not great, made with a oil and vinegar dressing. Not my favourite. The rest of the meal was great. read more

Came here on a Tuesday evening. They had 2 bartenders and one server and one cook for the whole place. I'm not blaming the staff because this is an obvious management issue. We ordered drinks and appetizers and while the drinks came out in a timely manner the appetizers took almost 45 mins. We were then able to finally able to place our order and the server came back and told us it would be at least one hour until we got our food. Seeing how the dinner was going so far we left as we didn't want to waste another 2 hours of our time. Understaffed and slow plus we wasted an hour of our time sitting there. Horrible service. I've been here a handful of times and always enjoyed the food. Some of the best meals I've had in Collingwood. Yesterday we (party of 2) arrived at the patio just before 3pm. There were a few tables but it was nowhere near busy. We ordered drinks, an appetizer, and our meals within 5-10 min of arriving. Drinks and appetizers arrived within a reasonable time frame, however, we waited over an hour for our meals. Many families arrived after us, ate their meal, and left while we were still waiting for entrees. The waitress kept coming by to assure us it was on its way, first claiming they were really busy (didn't look that way to me, but who knows...), then claiming they couldn't find the fish my partner ordered and they spent a lot of time trying to find it (what??). She then came by to tell us they were plating the food and it would be out soon, then 10 minutes passed and she said the other waitress was bringing it out, then another 10 min passed and still no food. We then asked to speak with the manager who told us the ticket didn't print and they hadn't even started making our food (this is now over an hour and 20 min after arriving and ordering). We told them to forget it as we were really frustrated they they had waisted our time. Not sure where the miscommunication happened, but either way it shouldn't have taken that long. They didn't offer to comp our appetizer or 4 drinks. Unfortunate, because my whole family has always enjoyed this restaurant. After this experience we will not be returning. read more

I'm gonna start off by saying the food here is good in the way they prepare it. Everything we got was tasty. What brought us in here was the big sign for raw oysters, however, they didn't have a big selection. We only had a choice between raw and cooked and it was $18.50 for half a dozen. The waitress explained that the oysters are rather big hence why we only get 6 for that price. Honestly, the oysters we got must've been the smallest I've ever had/seen. If those oysters are big, I wonder what the waitress considers regular sized or small lol. I get oysters from where I'm from (Scarborough) for way cheaper and they're bigger too. I get it, it's Collingwood and this is a tourist town so things are pricy. Aside from that they seemed to be quite understaffed so we waited over half an hour to receive any food. Luckily the food we received was good otherwise I'd be pissed. It's not really a place I recommend going to. When I searched yelp I saw 3.5 stars and decided to give it a try because I was craving raw oysters and the restaurant in living water was closed. It took us so long to get our food. from the time we were seated until it arrived it was maybe a two hour wait. We had the catfish lollys and the calamari. I had debated getting the catfish entree and I'm glad i opted for the app version instead. They seemed prepared the same way. The lollys were just okay although I found the catfish a bit mushy. I ate them all truly because I was literally starving at this point and not because they were delicious. the calamari was tasty but I dont think the sauce it was served with quite went together. We ordered the fish and chips as nothing much else on the menu jumped out at us. The fish was good. A nice portion and the fries were good as well.. Not a huge fan of the tartar . We did not like the coleslaw at all. It tasted a bit off. I believe there was dill in it or some kind of herb that just threw the entire taste of it off. I definitely think the fish and chips were good although not the best but I do believe they were over priced. I wouldn't recommend or go back only because you could probably get better quality fish and chips that aren't as expensive elsewhere. It was without a doubt the worst piece of fish we had ever tasted. May have been a 1/2 thick, cooked about 10 minutes on each side, dried out completely. On top of the exorbitant price for it, they charged another $3.00 for the salad under it. A $20 salad with dried fish on top. Terrible. Would never go back. Tonight we had a great experience at the restaurant. I had fish and chips(halibut) and my wife had the same (haddock). Both meals were prepared exactly as they should be.
