I stopped in here for lunch. Service was friendly, but major kitchen screw ups...from the burnt & flavorless tupelo chicken tenders to the fact that all drinks served are diet/sugar-free, my visit was unimpressive, despite the nicely designed interior of the restaurant, albeit a bit small. The manager was friendly & made up for the kitchen mistakes, but first impressions are everything.

I haven't had their regular menu but having moved to the U.K. I wanted a thanksgiving dinner but I didn't have the time to cook everything myself. I googled thanksgiving meals in edinburgh and Glasgow and Hard Rock Cafe was the only location offering it. It was really good. The only complaint was the pumpkin pie lacked a bit of the spices I'm used to and was a bit more of a tart instead of a pie.

    Very pretty inside

I give it a solid 4 stars. Reliably juicy burger and good fresh French fries. The restaurant was in a pretty space. We were there on Boxing Day which seems like the USA equivalent of Black Friday for shopping. The restaurant was not crowded and there was no wait. I had a Boddingtons half pint for under £2 and The Big Cheeseburger & fries for £14.95. Wife had The Legendary Burger (onion ring & bacon) for the same price. It was a decent value for the satisfyingly familiar fare these two Californians were seeking. Upon return I'd probably get hers because the bacon was so damn good. Service was prompt, kind, and accommodating. The interior was a lovely beautiful reprieve from the hustle & bustle of City Center. If you're looking for a decent burger, I'd recommend it.

Now to kick-off this review I'd just like to let you know I'm really not keen on faceless chain restaurants, I've never enjoyed them and I like to feel I'm getting a slightly different experience than the last 100 people that came in the door, and with chain restaurants I don't feel that way. However.... Don't tell anyone but I like Hard Rock cafés. I've been to quite a few over the world, London, Beijing, Barcelona and went to the one in New York but never ate in it. I'm a vegetarian but I'm a meat loving vegetarian, which might make no sense to people, so I'll explain. When I was a meat eater I ate my steak blue and loved a good burger, so now that's no longer an option, when I have a burger I like it to have texture and taste "meaty" So if I get a burger this way and no animal is involved in the making of it, I'm a happy chap. Coming in to the HRC you walk through their gift shop and up a couple of stairs into the main restaurant area, we arrived after work about 6 o'clock on a Friday night and it was already heaving. Now to let you know it wasn't exactly random that we came here, it was also a Queen night, and being a huge fan of all things Freddie, I was in heaven. The service is fast, efficient and friendly, the guy that served us throughout our meal was great, he loved to talk as do I. We maybe talked too much, we ended up getting into quite an in-depth discussion about travel which I don't think my girlfriend was overly enamoured about cause she was starving and we wouldn't shut up. We ordered up drinks, and two Veggie leggie burgers, and I swapped out my fries for onion rings also went for a side of mashed potato. Food arrived promptly and it was spot on! It was so good I actually opened up the bun to see what it look like as it was so tasty, char grilled and sumptuous, served on top red pepper, yellow squash, huge field mushroom, tomato and sweet onions. Onion rings and fries served with as side of chipotle mayo. Never tried the fries but the onion rings are immense. Mashed potatoes weren't that good, but we only ate half of them as we were stuffed, HRC do not skip on portion sizes, so prepare to be full! We didn't stay that long as we were off to see 1984 at the Citizen's theatre, but we had a quick stop in the gift shop where I got my girlfriend a limited edition Glasgow pin. The reason I'm telling you this is because my girlfriend hates chain restaurants more than I do, but now she's talking about going to the one in Berlin to get their pin when we go travelling at the end of the year. So, good for me as I can get another Veggie leggie real soon. The décor is dark and the walls are packed with rock memorabilia as you would expect, from Angus Young to Roger waters, legends everywhere. I'm salivating writing this review, so I may have to pay Glasgow another visit quicker than I thought. Don't go unless you're hungry, rock on!

With a relative just starting university and new to the area, what a better end to a good day out we came here "for something better" and even more so as my guest had never been to Hard a Rock Cafe before. It's not often that I get the chance to come here, mainly the price as one of the burger meals with a drink could easily buy a meal for two with drinks in a nearby place. I have been here before and rated the venue a 4/5 and a while back been to an event here and had a great time giving the event a 5/5 for food and service. This time things where a little different, our server was great, and our non alcoholic Tango Mango cocktails where great couldn't have asked for anything better. We ordered the sharing combo platter instead of ordering individual items, followed by two house burgers with cheese. The sharing platter was truly amazing and we both really enjoyed it, but we couldn't even manage to finish it, our table was checked on and I mentioned to the server that the side plate l was given was not the cleanest. Well our mains arrived, two house burgers, and the first thing I observed was that the plates where not clean, I mentioned this to the server, and they suggested that it may be from the burger, my reply was that I would have to had wipe a plate with a greasy burger to do this it was not possible. One good thing out of this was that someone came and spoke to me and listened, my suggestion was that there was no rinse aid in the machine or it was not going through properly. Maybe this was a one of, or just a bad day but l will come back in a few weeks and update review.

More than just a restaurant and bar, Hard Rock Cafe knows how to throw a party! I've attended a few events upstairs in their live lounge now and the staff really bring the fun factor and make the evening great. I most recently attended the European regional finals of the BARocker competition, which saw Hard Rock Cafe bartenders from across the region show off their cocktail makng skills and compete for a place in the final showdown in Panama. With it being Halloween weekend, there were some spooky surprises too. Like many of the events here, entry was free, with a welcome cocktail and great food (gluten free and vegetarian guests thoughtfully catered for) served up for VIP guests (thanks HRC and Yelp!). If you're looking for an entertaining evening, check out what's on at the live lounge.

I've visited a few Hard Rock Cafes, and although the food can be pretty tasty I generally think its pretty overhyped and priced and I can't say it would have been my first choice for a Christmas night out. But alas, this came top choice amongst a group of my good friends for our annual Christmas night out. At £40 a head it certainly wasn't the cheapest option, but included a live band, flying buffet style canapes and a drink. I was pleased when it turned out we were on one of the upper floors which had about ten tables of various work/ group Christmas nights. Our party of 16 were split over two tables which was a minor quibble. The room was decked out complete with Christmas tree and chocolate coins in a centerpiece which kept us going till the food arrived ... which admittedly did seem quite long. Served as mini canapes the starters included a few fishy options, melon and parma ham and the single veggie option of melon in port. The music was loud, like really loud ! I mean what did I expect its Hard Rock Cafe! Anyway, once the band came on I was pleasantly surprised they were in fact rather good - the lead singer had a cracking voice as he belted out a variety of popular hits mixed in with some Christmas stuff. The starters weren't really much to speak of so next up came the mains which included mini tarts, veg, pigs in blankets etc. My veggie option came on its own plate which I was pleased about, and included some sprouts, 2 large chips and a stuffed pepper with what I think was some sort of veggie slaw. As it was all canape style we had no cutlery... or indeed mini plates or napkins as they seemed to have been cleared away after the starters. Now the canape mains were easy enough to eat for the meat eaters, but for me trying to eat a stuffed pepper with no cutlery wasn't going to happen. Managing to catch a waitress I asked for some cutlery ... to which she replied over the music - "What is it!" I was less than impressed, but she did bring me a knife and fork. The table menus didn't tell me what the veggie options were and I would have liked to have known what I was eating. The menu had stated mini burgers, but these seemed bizarrely to be served much later than the mains. I was glad when a much friendlier guy brought me a mini veggie burger which was really meaty, complete with two mini veggie sandwiches (one of which my b/f munched). The burgers went down pretty well with the rest of the group too...much better than some of the fiddlier canapes. More dancing later... but what we all wanted was desserts which didn't finally arrive till 10.20! I imagine this was so they could tempt us to buy drinks, but at Hard Rock cafe prices - (eh £5.50 for a Jack D and Coke - jeezo), we were limiting our intake! Desserts were served in mini cones - cheesecake, black forest gateau and lemon posset. A mouthful of each was more than enough and they weren't much to speak of. By this time we only had time for a few more dances before train home time and some classic cheesy pop tunes were a good way to end the night. Glad I've tried Hard Rock in Glasgow and the veggie burger was pretty tasty but I don't think its somewhere I'll rush back, especially with so many other options.

It's hard to be non-judgemental about a chain restaurant, particularly one the size of Hard Rock Cafe. It is a truly global brand with a seriously serious army of fans. So, if you really want a taste of Glasgow, I wouldn't blame you for visiting a smaller independent, of which there are many! But stick with me! There's a reason I've given this five stars. Hard Rock Cafe was the product of foodie allied forces as two Americans visited London in the early 1970's. Isaac Tigrett and peter Morton were not impressed by the exclusivity of restaurants with quality food on the menu. They believed that great food could be enjoyed by ordinary working class people and families. With that in mind they opened their first store in Piccadilly and quickly built a loyal following. It was some time before they began introducing the now familiar collection of memorabilia; instead focusing on building a reputation for tasty food. The franchise spread beyond British shores and proved a natural hit in the brothers homeland, and birth place of rock 'n' roll. Through the 80s and 90s, it garnered its reputation for BBQ, parties and awesome tuneage. A great place for an 'event' night out, where diners could feel like stars among the glitzy suits and Gibson Les Pauls. This approach to satisfying customers has evidently worked and when you go to the Hard Rock Cafe, whether in Berlin or London, the feeling of being part of 'the band' is strong. And this is no different to Glasgow. All the same elements are there; guitars, suits, gold discs, great cocktails and a group of staff determined to make your night amazing. A 'vibe' manager is employed to take song requests and make sure your ears as a happy as your tastebuds. The restaurant also makes great use of Glasgow's history. The traditional Hard Rock aesthetic is built around the Grade II listed building, once the Victorian Athenaeum Theatre. The classic architecture harks back to the decadent wealth the city's rich and powerful enjoyed during the industrial revolution. When i visited in December, the restaurant (I think) was still finding its feet and building its collection of memorabilia. Now, with even more attachment to Glasgow, diners can check out items from the Sensational Alex Harvey Band (SAHB) and even a classic Marti Pellow suit from Wet Wet Wet. These particular items are displayed in the 500 capacity gig venue above the restaurant. We were given a tour of the facility and I think it could definitely add to Glasgow's live scene. So, this night was all about some new menu additions, which we were being invited to try (Huzzah!!). To get in the swing of things, a trio of mini-margaritas arrived with a side of nachos. This is the 'Air Mexico'. Each cocktail was, unsurprisingly, a hit. Me and tequila just work well together. And then two more rounds arrived! Next came the 'Nachopalooza'. I'm not sure I need to explain. We were treated to two enormous plates, one topped with southern fried chicken and the other with slow cooked brisket. Completing the quattro of starters were the jumbo sharing platter (chicken fillets, onion rings, lovely bruschetta, crackers and a really tasty spinach guacamole) and a plate of loaded potato skins. The nachos are listed as being for one but the staff will quite fairly tell you the sensible option is to share. Between six of us, we struggled. For the main course, I opted for he new tango burger; two lean steak patties topped with blue cheese, jack cheese, sloppy joe sauce and crispy onions. The burger also came with a healthy portion of fries. My wife went for the fillet of fish sandwich, which I have been reliably informed, was delicious. I have to say though, that ,even though we shared the starters, it was all a bit much. I managed to finish my burger but only after sacrificing the bun. Special mention for the blue cheese, which to my surprise proved an excellent companion to the meat. A really nice kick. My only negative would be that I enjoy my meat a wee bit rarer than the well done burger I received. The new menu, for me, really worked and while it hardly strays from what you'd expect from Hard Rock Cafe, it sufficiently delivers on taste and quality. As I said, you get an experience, more than just your food. You get to be part of the Hard Rock band. One last note...our host Gillian was fantastic. She clearly described each course and the ingredients to the food and cocktails. She was lively, engaging and gave us an informative tour of the gig venue. She also gave me the insight in to a wee bit of the history of the company. To cap off a great night, we also left with a Hard Rock Cafe thermos gift.

You know, I actually quite like Hard Rock Cafes. I used to collect them (I've done three in Tokyo, Nice, Berlin, Glasgow, Edinburgh, London and Leeds, the last of which no longer exists). I like the burgers, the cocktails and the memorabilia. I like that the staff are always nice to you. Thing is, I've only been to the Glasgow thing a couple of times - probably because I see it as a thing I do when I'm tourist-ing. Still, those occasions have been good. The local legend burger is haggis, which I love but which doesn't quite beat my favourite mushroom and swiss. I've never managed to try the deserts because I've always been to full from my main but the cocktail menu isn't bad. Recently I was here for the regional final of the BaRocker competition and got to see the upstairs bar (I've always been seated downstairs in the past). It's a cool little venue and I'd definitely stop by here for a cocktail and some live music or something. The BaRocker event was a cocktail making and flaring competition. HRC were amazing and looked after us really well with plenty of cocktails and sliders to go around and fantastic service in spite of the huge crowd. Of course, we were all very pleased when the Glasgow local took home the prize. I guess in many respects it's like any other HRC. If you like them, you'll like this one. If you find them overly gimmicky (also fair) then stay away. I think I'm still a fan, though. Must be the rock chick in me.

I only ever went to H.R.C whilst on holiday & it was always full of good times. So safe to say, I was eager to check out the new addition to Glasgow! Upon entry you arrive right in the gift shop, a decent selection of merch is available ranging from shirts to steins. Headed downstairs for a quick stop at the bar before being seated, tis well stocked & you'll definitely be spoiled for choice when it comes down to cocktails! The menu is pretty grand, all the good hearty grub you could possibly want. I skipped the starter & went straight for the hickory smoked pulled pork sammich & it came with 'slaw, fries & beans .... It was messy as hell... But damned tasty!!!! Dessert wasn't too shabby either, opted for the apple cobbler, the few bites I had were lovely.. Though I was well & truly stuffed after the main! Staff were real friendly, helpful & overall pretty darn efficient. The venue itself is aesthetically pleasing, from the balcony looking out from the merch store, the decor & of course ALL the memorabilia! Delightful experience, I doubt it'll be too long til I return!

After a hard days shopping I was much in need of a cocktail and a bite to eat. A very chirpy waitress told us about the venue and showed us to our seats, a nice touch to tell us about the things on display but to be honest I was just ready to sit and relax! Although its pretty expensive for essentially pub grub, the food was nice and we didn't have to wait an age to be served. Overall its a pretty decent place for lunch, the only bad thing for me is the overly attentive staff...I like a little peace to eat and chat!

    Our dinner.

As an aside I tried several times to find a place here in Glasgow or in Edinburgh that did a "special" fish and chips, that is breaded with crumbs and not battered, but apparently no one does that healthier old school preparation anymore (and I need to inform my old work colleague who hailed from Glasgow and gave me this inside tip that it's not practiced anymore). I also had a Chieftain IPA. The side of peas were dryish and not flavorful and small portioned and not done as well and tasty as I have had in London or Perth, just saying. We also had their sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert and that was good. The fries were mediocre. Server was friendly and attentive. 4 stars overall and a nice local flavor Glasgow outing.

Had the Goth ice cream which a black coconut ice cream With Jäegermeister syrup black sprinkles and wafer .Coconut creamy meets chocolate bitters and orange citrus . The syrup they use is sweet and thick and adds another dimensions of texture to this already complex up desert . Absolutely fabulous . I will definitely be back to try their buckfast shake . --- Came back the next day because I wanted to get their extremely limited goth dessert again which they were sold out of . Sad . But at least I had the chance to take advantage of their £4 Tuesday burger meal deal . I added caramelized onions for an extra pound but would recommend springing for the cheddar cheese or bacon for an extra £2 which is still a good deal ! As the the taste ? It's £4 burger with fries . No complaints ! As for the buckfast shake ...what an interesting concoction . It's strong ...I can only imagine what having straight buckfast would be like ..I'm glad my first time was in shake form as I'm sure the cream and milk toned down the alcohol and sharpness a lot . The overall flavor really grows on you . It reminds me of like a Neapolitan shake ( heavy on the chocolate and strawberry and no vanilla ice cream ) with a crap ton of added fermented strawberries and maraschino cherries and maraschino cherry syrup . If I was the chef I'd tweak this by adding a rum flambé banana slice or just banana in general would be so nice . I like this place a lot and would low key love to be a business partner or be able up a similar place in the States . Definitely a gem in Glasgow.

The mood in the bar is chilled, with nice mood lighting, good tunes and board games and books to use at your leisure should you want. There's even a microwave which you can use if you bring in your own food to eat! The kitchen bar is open during club hours too, so if you don't feel like dancing you can head on in to the kitchen and chill and/or eat and/or drink and/or play some board games at 2am!! The club is just as unique. there's parts of old furniture attached to the walls, lots of subtle nods to "The Big Lebowski" everywhere and lots of places to sit. There is a big quirky bar with all the mod cons including that lovely vintage tv playing some obscure Japanese films, of course. There's a big no frills dance area, complete with a wardrobe in the middle of the floor to dance around. There's not much in the way of flashy flashy lights, instead they have projections bouncing about the venue providing lighting changes and blasts from the pasts in the way of old footage and stuff. I've seen people stop dancing to reminisce at what they are seeing on the big projection screens. There is a nice set of standard lamps around to supply extra lighting around the tabled ares too. There is space for fowk to dance and sit and mingle with out feeling like a club, even though it kinda is. Friday and saturday nights see a good varied selection of club nights from 90's themed ones with bingo to indie stuff to b-sides to rawk to funk and everything in between. Um Did I mention you you get free toast?! PS. Check out the toilets for years worth of funny graffiti, art and poetry!
