We've been coming here for a few years and love the cupcakes. Many unique flavors and always moist and delicious. The staff is very friendly and the store is extremely clean. Very fun vibe. The only thing we don't like are the other desserts in the case. There has only been one thing that we have enjoyed, and it was a Mango Toaster Pastry from our first visit. Other than that, we find the brownies, cookies, etc. to be pretty average...sometimes too sweet, sometimes too bland. There are different seating options including a back room which houses a beautiful yellow sofa, blue chairs, coffee table, and three arcade games. There is also a large room downstairs to rent out for gatherings such as birthday parties. Such a nice idea! The gluten-free cupcakes were soft, rich and yummy. I wish I had more. There was a really nice guy working the day I came in. He has been working for Hardcore Sweet Bakery for two years. He was very helpful and answered all of my many questions. He's a keeper! We popped in here today as a "treat". Well, it was everything but! The place was so dusty and the countertop we sat at was dirty. There were no napkins to be found, so I had to ask the person working- who had since found a chair and their cell phone and sat down after we paid. They stated they had none and gave me some paper towels. We used them as a placemat on the dirty counter and when we took the wrappers off our cupcakes, they all crumbled apart because they were so hard. I had a GF lemon coconut, which had ZERO flavor except the frosting tasted like pure butter. My child had a chocolate cupcake and only liked the whipped cream and cherry, and said the frosting was yucky. I remember these cupcakes being delicious, which is why I offered this special surprise, but it was a HUGE disappointment and waste of money! Stopping in on this hidden gem in a office building for a sweet treat, luckily the food truck outside showed us the way. My sister and I both grabbed cupcakes for a treat; one German chocolate cupcake with coconut and a lemon cheesecake cupcake. Sweet and tart just like the two of us. We ordered our wedding cake from Hardcore Sweets and it was the most delicious cake I have ever had. We had the toasted almond flavor and it was absolutely incredible. Like other reviewers have noted, the cake part of the cupcake is somewhat dry and there's lots of buttercream frosting. When you pull in this plaza it isn't easy to find . There is a clock and wooden doors outside the main entrance to a lobby with a elevator where you need to take to the 2nd floor ,then loop around some halls til you smell sweet deliciousness. Phew !!!! They have a Insta-worthy wall outside their business itself which we had to stop and take some flicks infront of immediately. They didn't have much on-hand for 11am (about 10 choices ) I expected more flavors & choices ,but we found a few that seemed good. They had a vegan lemon cupcake with a champagne frosting that was ok (tad dry ) and a raspberry one with alot of frosting ontop (not overly sweet) they had a white brownie & peanut butter cup cupcake we chose too. So i am not sure if it was because they were at the Elephant flea market and being sold out of a truck but the cupcake its self was on the dry side. A little more moisture in them would have put them over the top. We had 2 different types one was the peanut butter which was good. The flavors were there but not over the tops. The second one was a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting in the middle with chocolate frosting on top with cookie in the middle. This was lacking any flavor, everything seemed just to melt together. I will have to take a trip to the store to really compare, but from the truck i would pass. read more

When it comes to a great overall neighborhood establishment, you can't beat Hardcore Sweets! We have been frequenting them for several years in their store as well as their cupcake truck at local fairs & events thru out the state. Most recently we have crossed paths with them for some very different celebrations over the past month. A date night, Valentine's Day, a baby shower & my husband's birthday. We are loving that they just aren't a cupcake shop that has 9-5 hours, they really are invested in the community. The Friday night before Valentines Day we went to the "Let's Taco about Love" which highlighted two other great vendors & a really fun date night. The next day, I took my niece to the Valentines Day kids decorating class, she had such a great time as the entire class was hands on. My only issue was that there probably was too many kids, I know it's hard to turn away families but it got really chaotic. For my baby shower last month they worked with my sister & custom made mini Girl Scout samosa & Oreo cupcakes (my two favorites) in addition to the most incredible lemon/raspberry cake. Everyone is still raving about the bite sized cupcakes. Lastly, I worked with Nicole to make a chocolate peanut butter candy drip cake for my husband. A.) it looked friggin amazing & B.) it tasted absolutely incredible, especially the peanut butter mousse inside! My experience with Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes so far has been amazing. Every time I've had their cupcakes, it's been at certain events where their cupcake truck served only vegan cupcakes. I've never been to their main business location, but I'm hoping to make it up there sometime soon. At this point, I think I've had the opportunity to visit their truck 4 or 5 times at various events. I've probably tried 7 or 8 different varieties of their vegan cupcakes. I'm pretty sure I've never had the same flavor twice, which makes me wonder...how many different varieties do they have? Some of their cupcakes I had 2 or 3 years ago now, so it's hard for me to remember each variety. No matter, they were all amazing! The cupcakes in the photo were from a big summer vegan event I go to every year. I usually get at least two different ones every time. The varieties are always clever and creative. Red Velvet, some coconutty delish cupcake, banana cream...too many to remember. One thing I wonder is if they can make vegan versions of all their cupcakes, why not just nix the eggs and dairy and go all vegan all the time? I've eaten enough vegan baked goods and done enough vegan baking myself to know that there's no difference in quality, taste, or texture. The cost of the ingredients for vegan baking are PROBABLY the same or less. They wouldn't even have to call themselves "vegan" if they believe the the label would somehow negatively effect sales. Oreo cookies don't say "vegan" on the package, but they are. Even if accidentally because the ingredients are cheaper than eggs and dairy. In any case, my experiences with Hardcore Sweet have been fantastic! I hope to have an opportunity to enjoy their cupcakes again very soon! read more

Opting to forego dining out during the pandemic, I was however fortunate to sample some of the vegan treats from Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes. They. Were. Fantastic. My cousin held a catered baby shower where she offered 5 flavors of cupcakes from Hardcore Sweet! I'm not sure how to certainly identify each one based on the Hardcore Sweet menu, because there are so many to choose from, but there were two chocolate cake based ones (I'm thinking they might have been the Biggie Smalls and one of the Oreo cupcakes), one maple type cake with a touch of saltiness, buttercream frosting and granola sprinkled on top, a Red Velvet, and another peanut butter based cake, I think was the PB cup. As if tasting them all wasn't enough (they were each uniquely scrumptious), I was sent home with a half dozen to share with my love who also swooned a little with his first bite. My family member went to pick up the cake the day of the party which was falling over to the back and to the left. Was not centered and not worth $200. This was an hour before the surprise party for my sisters 40th. I would think for the price they would know how to keep cakes centered as well as from sliding... The frosting was decorated beautifully and the gold flakes. However, the frosting was beyond overly sweet. What possibly could be done an hour before a party even 4 hours before a party... was just offered a $25 gift card for the "inconvenience" of a $200 cake. This place is located in a really cool mill building (the "Old Pin Shop"), which gives it an interesting vibe before you even walk in the door. I'm not a cake type of girl, and cheesecakes I like even less, however... about 5 years ago my son was only 9 years old and watched the Food Network show where the Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes won the cupcake contest, and he made the family buy me cupcakes from them and I absolutely loved it. Went to date night at the bakery last night and it was an absolute blast! Heather and Nicole rocked it were both informative and made the class lots of fun! Cake came out delicous as did the chocolate covered oreos. The atmosphere in there is really cool and unique. Its in a warehouse type setting which is actually perfect for a spot like this, the decorations around the room make it feel both welcoming and homey! My mom had her retirement party this past weekend and we ordered a custom show cake along with a large sheet cake and everything was so amazing. The show cake was a metal pail with a sugar sculpted lobster on top surrounded by sand and shells and it was such a delight to all! I am a Sugar fiend, so discovering Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes this past weekend led to a bit of an internal debate. Am I cheating on Sugar by enjoying HSC? Can you be in love with two cupcake trucks at the same time? (The answers, in order, are no and yes.) The biggest dilemma, however, was: Which flavor do I want? Beer & Pretzels? Mr Rogers? Cannoli? Bananas Foster? I was going to do the head to head with the cannoli, since that's my favorite from Sugar, but instead I went with the Mr Rogers... and I am SO GLAD I did. The cupcake was just enough -- not too big, not too small, with just enough frosting to get me through. I think HSC is the ying to Sugar's yang (that's a good thing, right?) and gives the northern half of CT reason to look forward to food truck festivals. I bought a banana foster cupcake and peanut butter truffle. I expected more from a famous bakery. Well, I mean , I have different tastes from the norm I guess. The cupcake supposedly had buttercream frosting and this tasted like the "buttery cream" frosting that comes from a run that most places use, like stop and shop. Very grainy sugar in that buttercream. Over the top sweetness (I guess that's why it's called hardcore sweet) and too crazy for me. The banana cake was moist which was great, but with the bright yellow food coloring I'm guessing the flavor was fake (like the frosting) as well. The caramel filling was ok.it didn't have the consistency of store made caramel, but taste was ok. The $2 truffle I thought i was getting was nothing more than cake remnants mixed with the fake frosting. Chocolate shell was good. The bits of peanut butter chips inside was ok. This place is For the masses who get caught up in the flair filled in the building and the "experience" of getting a famous cupcake. For those who can know a real, made from scratch cupcake I'd keep looking. When we got home we opened the cake and the whole back was smashed. We called there and sent pictures. They offered a $10 credit towards our next purchase but we told them we wouldn't be going back.
