But when we were done, I did not like how she presented me the check. She just quickly flashed me an amount on a screen, and then hid the screen. I asked if I could pay cash and she accepted it but did not bring me a check even then. We ordered 3 burgers that sounded really good. Such a disappointment. The burger meat in each was shaped perfectly and was as hard as a hockey puck. They appeared to be cooked medium but the meat was tough and gristly. I have no idea how they got all the burgers the exact, uniform hockey puck shape. They must be like those frozen ones you can get at Costco. But $17.95 for a frozen hockey puck? At one point, while my kids were telling me how gross the patties were, while my husband and I told them they had to eat them to go play on the playground, I flagged the server down and asked what type of meat it was. She said beef. However, it did not taste like beef. Thank goodness for all the toppings because if they were plain burgers, they would have been inedible. We were so hungry though so we ate what we could. Notably, the buns also tasted cheap like they had just come out of a stale grocery store deli bag. The seasoned fries, sweet potato fries, the homemade ranch and ketchup, and salad with homemade vinaigrette were ok. After we left, I added up what we ordered again and realized she must have charged me an extra $12 to swap out a veggie patty for a beef patty. I was not told there would be an upcharge so felt a little swindled, especially with how she presented the check. I wish I had kept the veggie patty though, because it probably would have been better. Also my kid who had said the burgers were so gross puked right after we left and immediately felt much better and enjoyed 2 hours on the playground. My other kid was jealous of the other one puking. The curry was very flavorful, but not spicy. In hindsight, I should have asked if they had some Jamaican scotch-bonnet hot sauce to spice things up a bit. The cabbage, cooked with ham hocks or something similar was fantastic; it was the best cabbage I've had in a long time. All in all, my meal was excellent. My wife tried the BBQ. The fries were cooked to order, the slaw was creamy, but the BBQ was a disappointment. I tried a bite and it reminded me of the sort of pork BBQ that you can buy in the grocery store. It was a definite meh, at best. My curry chicken was definitely a 4-star meal, while the BBQ rates 2-stars, so everything averages out to 3 stars. That said, I suspect that if you stick with the Jamaican menu, you're likely to get a 4-star or better meal. One last thing: If you pay with a credit card, they hit you up with a 4% upcharge. I got to Sycamore Brewing right at 9:30am (when breakfast was supposed to start)... Sycamore was up and running, while the Food Truck didn't open it's window and start taking orders until after 10am. Not a great start (IMHO). If you say you are going to have breakfast at a certain time, I would definitely be on time... if not be earlier than expected. So the initial start of not being open created probably a rush of orders that the truck wasn't really ready for....Is my best guest so the truck was already in the weeds before even firing up the first order. I waited a while for the ordering line to go dwindle before getting up to place my order. Their menu was simple enough and had a choice of a breakfast burrito (choice of meats in the burrito), egg, cheese, roasted peppers... pretty standard. The other choice was a sandwich in between two pieces of Texas toast pretty much the same ingredients. The Sycamore FB page advertised pancake holes, but the day of the event they were advertised as donut holes.... with powdered sugar and syrup. They had side offerings of fruit and potatoes. So the menu seemed good enough... not really sure where the hold up was, but my order was taken (no payment was taken and not ticket system... just a verbal number given to me). It was super painful for the next 2 hrs as food slowly came out of the truck for the folks that basically ran up to the truck as soon as they opened.... yet it wasn't consistent since orders started coming out and people were not receiving their food in the order they were in line.... The numbering system was not at all helpful since it would give you false hope that you may be only a few away... but alas... we all quickly found out there was little to no way of systematically figuring out what food would come out next. I met a nice couple that were starving and just bailed (they gave the truck until they were done with two beers each).... since they didn't pay, I guess the transaction ended up okay, but then the truck would be preparing food for people that weren't there (while the people that stuck it out were still waiting). So now, I've had 5 drinks.... I also had run 5 miles before this so I was pretty buzzed and wondering where in the (INSERT EXPLETIVE) this burrito that I ordered over an hour ago was. Just an overall bad situation... it was like a train wreck were you see the crash coming, but all the doors and windows are barred up and you physically could not go anywhere else. In an effort to quell the dissension, I think the food truck owner (I am guessing) told everyone they will discount the food and apologized for the wait... so people dispersed from waiting beside the truck and went to the tables.... Then it became another show of this woman coming out with food and yelling numbers for people that may or may not have stuck around. When I finally did get my order, I wasn't charged (which was nice), but my burrito was supposed to have sausage in it, and instead I was greeted with bacon. Which isn't a big deal for me... I was just happy to get something, but I could see if someone had a food aversion or allergy, this could be an issue. I did feel for the lady since she gave out free waters and fruit to those that were still waiting for their orders..... I think I also saw her giving refunds to those that had paid as they ordered. Just overall an experience that literally left a bad taste in my mouth. I think I heard some patrons at the bar complaining to the Sycamore staff so it is doubtful this food-truck will do breakfast again... Some other folks that have done a Sycamore breakfast said the other trucks were pretty good ("these guys must be new"). I did manage to look at my watch after inhaling my burrito and seeing the time of 11:50... I was actually thinking about ordering from the other food truck that was serving lunch at Sycamore that day.

We split the Monroeton Monster platter and we're completely satisfied. The potatoes were fire, the grits creamy and buttery, sausage and bacon were spot on and the biscuit with sausage gravy.... They serve breakfast and lunch on Friday and Saturday and run a catering business as well. One side of the store has a small market with take home foods and local crafts. Can't wait to come back for lunch. We'll worth the drive from Greensboro or wherever you are.
