I called this company and made an appointment over a month ago for services - a furnace check and duct cleaning so my heating system would be ready for the winter. Two days before they were supposed to come they called and told me they needed to move my appointment out another month because they were "slammed." Why would they overbook themselves? They said that "people were without heat." Well, so am I. And now I have to try and find someone else during a busy time. Don't bother making an appointment. Just had our furnace repaired by Ricardo with Hardy Quality Air. He really want out of his way to take care of my problem. Quickly diagnosed problem as a bad controller board. He said he could get another board and install it probably by Monday and if lucky the prior Friday. The next day Ricardo calls with the new board and ask if he could if he come and install it. The new board was different than the old one. But quickly studying the instructions he contacted all the huge set of spaghetti wires. He me turn the thermostat and it worked the first time! These guys are REAL. They get it. First time I called with my heater out in the middle of winter weather I got the owner Darrell, who was pleasant and ready to accommodate when all others were just going to "see what they could do". He send a young man named Chance over, who was also very friendly and accommodating. The repair wasn't "cheap" but it was delivered with good, honest service and the price was at least seemingly fair. Fast forward two months and here we are in COVID-19 lockdown hell, and the heater isn't working again. I pulled up the invoice and called Hardy. A receptionist named Courtney took the call. At first I was going to book a service call, but then my wife objected to having someone come in the house from outside. I was assured that Hardy had prepped for this by making sure all their crew were using brand-new safety suits, full face masks, gloves and boot covers at each house they worked at. I was impressed by how they chose to handle that aspect, but still, my wife thought it better to avoid if we could. (Also, it is important to note that with the current state of the pandemic, our business has been shuttered and we are for all intents and purposes without income for who knows how long. *I did not tell them this in advance.*) I made a bold suggestion: would Courtney (the receptionist) have Darrell (the owner) call me and possibly see if he'd be willing to try to walk me through a diagnostic and self-repair? It was a big ask, but I was hopeful. Within 30 minutes, Darrell was on the phone. He was genuinely interested in trying to help. He began to describe the process and things I should look for. I went to the basement to see the heater and called him back. I asked him if he'd be willing to do a video call. He's on an Apple phone and I am on an Android. I asked if he'd be willing to download the Google Duo app and do it that way. Unhesitatingly, he agreed. Once we got the video call up and running, he guided me through a full diagnostic and took an overall look at the whole installation. Ha made a number of very good suggestions to optimize the function of the heater and in the end diagnosed what the likely problem is. He recommended a course of action for me to try at least a temporary repair, which I executed. So far, it has worked. At that point, we spoke about the appointment down the road and I explained the state of our business. He told me that he would waive certain parts of the fee to help us when the time came as long as I could send him some photos of what to order. Overall, this was just an *outstanding* experience from start to current state. I believe in supporting good, honest businesses run by good, honest people. This is the text I just sent Darrell after he finished a multi-issue repair on our 50-year-old mobile home furnace: "We are convinced you used some magic in the repair because the heater is not just repaired, but it is working better than before -- hotter & more volume -- so heats the house more quickly & completely. Family business, very responsive. PG&E turned off the gas while work was being done, and when they turned it back on the pilot on the wall heater would not reignite. Joe came out and managed to get the pilot lit where PG&E failed to do so. Problem was the pilot would not stay lit. The heater was old and needed repairs. I was given the option to repair it or replace it. No one tried to push me in to a more expensive option, they just wanted to make sure I was aware of the choices. We called Hardy Air in January, as our furnace sounded like a small, loud animal was screeching in it when it started up. The technician came out and determined that it was the blower motor, which he adjusted. He did say that at some point we would need a new blower motor or a new furnace (this one was almost 38 years old). We decided to investigate furnaces (as noises in blower motor did start to come back), and got two more bids, in addition to Hardy's. Theirs was the most competitive, they answered numerous questions, and Darryl Hardy (owner) came out to check some things that we had questions about. Bottom line, we went with Hardy - they ordered the furnace, and did the install in one day. We recently had Hardy Quality Air replace a $45 part (estimated) so that our wall furnace pilot light would stay lit. They replaced the part in approximately 30 minutes. Thus, we were surprised to learn that we were billed for 2 hours of work, resulting in an outsized charge of nearly $300. After a conversation with the office, we had a half-hour's worth of the labor waived, leaving a still inflated charge. We chalked this up to experience. However, we still have to relight the pilot nearly every day. read more

I think giving them 2 stars is generous. My furnace was not working properly. Their trained personnel, Steve came out and inspected my furnace. He recommended I replace the circuit board which would have costed me hundreds of dollars. I think it would have been $500-$700. They charged me $106 for their diagnosis. I decided to get a 2nd opinion from Chris Wilson Plumbing. They told me the problem was not the circuit board but the ignitor and replaced it for $316 total including the diagnosis. Furnace is still working years later. read more
