The classes here are addictive, but unfortunately they do not offer unlimited monthly membership. This kundalini yoga studio is small, peaceful, and cozy. I discovered this studio through Rainer (best instructor) and the space is positive and welcoming. It is a great place to unwind, center yourself, and come home to your true self. Every class is different with distinct focuses and they predominantly end with either gong savasana or mediation, giving you the opportunity to explore and work on many levels and aspects of yourself. This style of yoga is very different but it's super effective and it's open to all ages, shapes, and sizes, and is highly recommended to anyone who has anxiety, addiction, depression, are prone to overthinking, and/or prone to absorbing others thoughts and emotions as their own, etc. With consistent practice, it'll literally change your life for the better, while bringing in more inner peace and self love. read more

You'll get an idea of what to expect as you move on to more involved classes. Great tips to remember: Wear comfy loose clothes & maybe socks (you can take them off when you are warm enough) A head covering to keep energy in is great but optional Use the restroom before class begins to stay focused Chant if you want to - if not, just enjoy the vibe! This is a relatively peaceful space as the police station next door has most of the parking spots on the street full, so traffic on this block (in an otherwise busy area) is a bit lesser. Come and have your heart filled with bliss in this wonderful space! This is my first time practicing Kundalini Yoga and though I don't have other Kundalini studios to compare it to, what I can say about Hari's compassionate guidance is, it is super effective! Usually when one hears the word meditation, one thinks of keeping perfectly still and clearing the mind. I have such a struggle with that. For those who are new to the practice and unsure of what to expect, I would describe it as rhythmic meditation. Music, chanting and movement are tools to help your mind get into a state of deep meditation. Here I feel so at ease to go at my own pace and make adjustments, it is a place of non judgement and exploration. Now I had heard of Kundalini for some time from Russell Brand. I was intrigued since I had some idea of how powerful and effective it is, it purportedly helped him with his addictions. I figured, if it can make the firestorm that is Brand calm down, it might be able to help me! I am prone to overthinking and anxiety. After going through long periods of uncertainty and stress in my life, even simple things became unmanageable. I have some clue as to what was going through in my body, perhaps caused by adrenal fatigue. I was experiencing sleeplessness, sadness that I could not snap out of, sinus issues caused by acid reflux, mind fog, gastric issues and IBS. At that point in time, I had visited an Endocrinologist who waved away my symptoms and laughed mockingly, saying it's all in my head. He seemed to think that I could just snap out of it. In my mind I thought, hey if I could do that, don't you think I would have done instead of coming to you? But that is typical of modern medicine, for example, blood testing for hormonal imbalances is difficult, it is just a snapshot of that minute in time, where your body is constantly adjusting throughout the day. His disinterest in pursuing my symptoms further was a blessing in disguise. I realized that the Endocrinologist and visiting my ENT could only ever help with the symptoms anyways, not the root of the problem. The steroid nose spray I had been using could in fact cause long term damage to my body. I wanted to try natural methods of healing. On my first visit, something really clicked inside of me. The chatter stopped and for the first time in a long time, I felt like myself. It was such a powerful experience I was brought to tears. Now I'm not saying that Kundalini erased all my symptoms, but it helped put me in the right state of mind to be still and listen to what my body needs to recover. I have no doubt that the meditation helped with my stress hormones. The mind is a powerful thing, especially when it is unlocked by a powerful practice! THis is one of my first yoga classes. I came here with a woman I work with because she had heard such good things about this place. We had Liam and I can say it was a wonderful experience. I felt we were in great hands. The class wasn't very intense, but I'm generally very flexible and strong for my size. I know there are more difficult classes available. I also heard they offer a $10 class on Saturdays! The studio is so convenient on West 30th Street in Chelsea. The studio is small and very homey and cozy. It's like a big apartment. I think my friend will be coming back for more classes and I may join her. Very good experience! read more

What a space of relaxation! Liam was such a good guide on my journey to my first kundalini class. Said to be one of the more intense classes in awhile but such a rewarding one. Intense exercises couple with deep breathing make for an amazing way to start the weekend! The space was so nice and homey; allowing you to unwind fully and feel comfortable with all the exercises. My highlight was definitely the gong meditation (may have caught a little bit of a snooze - oops for the mini snore)! Lowlight nothing really just wish I could have kept going. I've been a fan of Hari since her studio was a DIY popup setup in a church. The positivity at these classes is infectious and I leave feeling naturally high on the kundalini energy. Love the breathwork and gong. The physical exercise portion of the class always compliments the meditation portion, so much so that I look forward to the meditation (and I'm not really a meditation gal). If you've done the more widespread vinyasa style yoga or hot yoga classes, this is definitely not that. Keep an open mind! I sort of wanted to deduct half a star since prices have gone up sharply in the past year, which makes it less accessible for some, but price is in line with other Manhattan studios and I believe they do offer a community class. read more

I've been studying with Hari for four years now and she is a remarkable teacher. Even after all this time I'm still learning from her. I was visiting NYC and took a class with Parvati at Hari to practice some yoga while passing through town. I usually practice Vinyasa, so this was my first exposure to Kundalini-- and my first time doing yoga in NYC, at that. I expected to be packed into a small, muggy studio, rubbing shoulders with the other students. There was plenty of space and the atmosphere was extremely welcoming, intimate, and roomy! Parvati made a huge effort to teach me about the history and purpose of Kundalini yoga, and guided me through unfamiliar postures. I left refreshed, energized, and most importantly, having learned new things about my body, my mind, and life. Kundalini is a departure from Vinyasa, but in the best kind of way. Hari Kaur is an amazing yogi, specializing in kundalini yoga. I first discovered Hari 3 years ago at a yoga center downtown. Hari recently left to open her own studio in midtown with her husband Dave, a jazz muscian- what a beautiful combination. This makes me super happy because it's convenient to my work. However, I would travel just about any distance to visit her school. I'm hooked on the gong meditation, which I've only truly experienced with Hari. This practice, unlike other forms of the gym yoga that I used to take, focuses on energy creation, breath work and a gong meditation. Basically, the lights are dimmed, you lie down on your back and close your eyes while the gong is played. The gentle vibrations and sound are so relaxing and soothing. After my busy & stressful days at the office, I need this to unwind and find a few moments of tranquility. I literally come away from class a new and inspired man. There are also other classes that I take to improve my flexibility, finding calmness, relieve stress... all the teachers are fantastic. If you haven't tried kundalini yoga, you must. I've been practicing yoga for 13 years, Kundalini specifically for 11 and Hari is by far my most favorite teacher I've had. If you've never done Kundalini yoga, this is an excellent place to give it a try (and probably fall in love with it).
