Allow me to share a long but very interesting story about my first experience with Mountain…read moreEuropean Auto Repair. My 2008 Porsche Cayman S recently incurred a problem with its Air Oil Separator (AOS) so I parked it pending resolution. Before this could be addressed, the frunk (front trunk) latch mechanism began to click periodically and the frunk (where the battery is located) would no longer open. Shortly thereafter, the battery died and the car would no longer start. I attempted the two emergency opening procedures outlined in the owner's manual (jumper cable to fuse block and release cable inside driver's fender well) but both of those failed. At this point I was faced with a seemingly unsolvable problem. Since I had encountered poor service experiences in years past with 3 different Porsche dealers, a neighbor recommended that I call Dimitri at Mountain European Auto Repair to discuss the Cayman's problems. I was immediately relieved when Dimitri said he was CONFIDENT they could fix everything, so I towed the car to their shop where it was quickly verified that no conventional procedure could be used to open the frunk. He then informed me that they would have to use an "invasive procedure" to gain access to the battery, which would unfortunately damage the hood. I quickly agreed (because the car was basically a door stop at this point) after which Dimitri and Jesse set out to devise a method for safely cutting the hood to access the defective latch without damaging any other components. I was both impressed and comforted by the way they shared their plan IN GREAT DETAIL before proceeding. Since the hood would be damaged by the procedure, they started by sourcing a used replacement hood in great condition that also happened to be the correct color (Midnight Blue Metallic), thereby avoiding repainting costs. Only after the replacement hood was procured did they begin working to access the hood latch mechanism so they could repair it and then service the AOS. After the repairs were completed, they showed me every part that was replaced and told me why. (They also showed me VIDEOS of their hood cutting procedure and explained that the original frunk latch issue was caused by a mouse that had chewed through the insulation of the actuator wiring.) Their work was flawless and my car now looks as though nothing had ever happened to it. And the price I paid was nothing compared to the amount of work and original effort that must have gone into fixing it. I could not imagine a more pleasant experience or a better place to take my European car for repair. Thank you so very much, Dimitri, Jesse and Joanna.

The state trooper that was at the accident said that we would not be able to take our trailer back to our yard and that the towing company would have to take it. We argued and said that we could take it because it was not damaged, and we had brought another semi to take it home with. He would not let us and said we would need to call a towing company to get our truck and trailer. So, we called our towing company to come pick it up for us and the State Trooper said to cancel it, that he had just called another towing company. Which happened to be A Automotive and Truck. They have been down our throats since the accident about coming to get our trailer, even though it is out of our hands now and in the hands of insurance. They have harassed us AND insurance over the phone. Lloyd does not understand that insurance takes time to go through and cannot just throw out money to people and companies. He has yelled over the phone to us and charged our driver $450 to come onto the premises DURING HOURS. They have also charged us $400 per day for every day that the truck and trailer is there. Which is really high compared to most towing companies that charge between $100-$200 per day. The bill for our totaled truck right now is about $12,000 and our trailer tow bill is about $13,000. Which is crazy because the trailer wasn't even damaged. Overall A Automotive and Truck have been terrible to deal with and I would not recommend them to ANYONE that has a wreck because they will harass you and overcharge you.

We called Good Sam Club and AAA and neither of them "could help". Finally Good Sam gave us a number to a gentleman who they said they couldn't get ahold of. I called and he answered immediately. He came to us and said he'd go grab a tire and come back. Mind you, this was a Sunday and it was in the middle of thunderstorm...and he was closed! He fixed us up, filled up all our other tires, and sent us on our way. That's after Good Sam and AAA kept us waiting hours! Thank you, Lloyd for being our answer to prayer!
