I reached out immediately to them, and they let me know that they would investigate and get back to me. I was called back the same day to be told that what I saw on his ear was an old scab that fell off, that they should have let me know when they found it, and apologized that they didn't do that and offered me a free wash for the next time I came in. Also frustrated because I specifically said "i like to keep the little wisp of hair on his ears" basically don't touch the ears. I could literally see where the clippers left stroke marks right at the position of the injury, but I had no proof that it was a new wound until the next day. It happened to be raining pretty heavily, I walked my dog just for a quick pee and come back upstairs, and I noticed blood on the top of his head on the side of his face and realize that his ear is bleeding because the water re-opened the fresh wound they did. Of course I would not be OK with my dog getting hurt in anyway, but I think this situation would've been less infuriating if they took accountability for hurting my dog and not even mentioning it to me when I picked him up, and offering me a free bath as compensation, which I thought was strange if they had done nothing wrong. This place is already ridiculously expensive. They raised their prices and for the $125 that I spent I am extremely upset. I would also like to note: if you go through the photos you'll see quite a few other dogs get nicked or badly cut as well. I wish I looked more closely before. The first time the Front Desk communicated that the grooming would be done in 30 minutes and when we came back, she denied ever saying that. The grooming took 4 hours in total. The 2nd/3rd time were fine, but then our dog ended up at the vet & got an ear infection because we found out that they never cleaned out his ears or plucked his ears so we spent over $1K at the vet. The final time (I know, stupid us for going again), we wanted to see if we could make it work because of the proximity of Bark Shoppe and wanting to truly support local businesses, they charged us a "LATE FEE" for picking up our dog 30 minutes after they called even though they never once disclosed that this policy existed. I emailed their team and instead, their front desk person called us and said "we can't refund this fee and moving forward it would be better for your dog to be groomed elsewhere." What. A. Joke. Unfortunately, because my dog has trauma from having had his dewclaws removed (I didn't do it to him - he's a rescue) he would not allow the groomer to clip his toenails. They asked us to come in and help but our dog was just so stressed out at that point that we couldn't touch his paws without him going into a panic. This is unfortunate because the main reason I was paying a groomer was to get help with clipping his claws. I just can't do it myself. I guess next time we can try giving him some anti-anxiety medication and see if that works. The groomer did take a little off the price because of not being able to cut his nails. I would recommend this groomer to anyone who has a well-behaved dog who is amenable to being groomed. I would not recommend them if you have an anxious or fearful dog. The haircut itself was really perfect and beautiful. I will probably try another groomer just because I need my dog's claws cut short, but if my dog was better behaved I would go back to this place because they give good haircuts.

We reached out to person who identified herself as one of the co-owners, who offered to personally care for the puppy. Because he was too young to stay at the main facility, the plan was for her to keep him at her personal residence. We dropped him off at the East Harlem business location and headed home. My friend is very attached to his dog, and he even got an Uber back the same day just to bring the puppy's blanket. He left feeling reassured that the dog was in good hands. That night, my friend was already missing his puppy and asked for an update before bed, and she sent over some photos, which he shared in our group chat. At first glance they looked great. Almost too great. Anyone who has spent five minutes with an 8-week-old Aussie knows they never stand still, so my first thought was that she must be a remarkable trainer to get a puppy posed so perfectly. But looking closer, I noticed irregularities in the images, and they appeared to be AI generated. These were later confirmed to be AI generated. I want to be fair here. I don't believe there was any bad intent, and the puppy was returned to us in perfectly good condition. But sending what seemed to be AI-generated photos instead of a quick real snapshot was a lapse in judgment that undermined our trust at the worst possible moment. When you've handed over a very young puppy on short notice, an honest update matters more than a polished one. Given the circumstances, we felt more comfortable collecting the dog, and a refund was promptly issued, which we appreciated. With departure set for the following morning, there was no time to find replacement boarding, and the trip had to be cancelled entirely. Between the non-refundable bookings and rearranged plans, it turned into an expensive problem. Others clearly have good experiences here, and the co-owner was pleasant throughout. This just wasn't the right fit for us, and I'd encourage them to stick with real photos for owner updates, even imperfect ones. Honest beats perfect every time.
