I reached out immediately to them, and they let me know that they would investigate and get back to me. I was called back the same day to be told that what I saw on his ear was an old scab that fell off, that they should have let me know when they found it, and apologized that they didn't do that and offered me a free wash for the next time I came in. Also frustrated because I specifically said "i like to keep the little wisp of hair on his ears" basically don't touch the ears. I could literally see where the clippers left stroke marks right at the position of the injury, but I had no proof that it was a new wound until the next day. It happened to be raining pretty heavily, I walked my dog just for a quick pee and come back upstairs, and I noticed blood on the top of his head on the side of his face and realize that his ear is bleeding because the water re-opened the fresh wound they did. Of course I would not be OK with my dog getting hurt in anyway, but I think this situation would've been less infuriating if they took accountability for hurting my dog and not even mentioning it to me when I picked him up, and offering me a free bath as compensation, which I thought was strange if they had done nothing wrong. This place is already ridiculously expensive. They raised their prices and for the $125 that I spent I am extremely upset. I would also like to note: if you go through the photos you'll see quite a few other dogs get nicked or badly cut as well. I wish I looked more closely before. Sad because I've been going there for over a year and a half, I trusted them.

Unfortunately, because my dog has trauma from having had his dewclaws removed (I didn't do it to him - he's a rescue) he would not allow the groomer to clip his toenails. They asked us to come in and help but our dog was just so stressed out at that point that we couldn't touch his paws without him going into a panic. This is unfortunate because the main reason I was paying a groomer was to get help with clipping his claws. I just can't do it myself. I guess next time we can try giving him some anti-anxiety medication and see if that works. The groomer did take a little off the price because of not being able to cut his nails. I would recommend this groomer to anyone who has a well-behaved dog who is amenable to being groomed. I would not recommend them if you have an anxious or fearful dog. The haircut itself was really perfect and beautiful. I will probably try another groomer just because I need my dog's claws cut short, but if my dog was better behaved I would go back to this place because they give good haircuts.

Also a quick cursory scroll of the 5star reviews show that they skew towards smaller, "cute" dogs. Further evidence that they are falsely advertising their services. If you can only handle small dogs, please just make that clear so that nobody can waste their time here again. In conclusion: Parents of pitties beware of this place!! And other pet parents-- please make an effort to support pet daycares that will provide service to all dogs, especially if they have done nothing wrong, and have always been good dogs. Your first red flag is how easy it is to overlook the price on the website. Your second red flag should be that the price is not included in the appointment confirmation email. Your third red flag should be that she doesn't ask for payment before providing the service. She did agree to the $85 price "this one time," but there won't likely be a second. For $125, I can get a mobile groomer's van to pull up to the curb right in front of my building.

I am a cat owner who travels often for business. I live alone, so I depend on cat sitting services to take care of my furry friend when I am away. I was referred to Gotham City Cat Care through a friend who had used their services. I decided to give them a try after investigating their website. I felt comforted by the fact that the owner had fostered cats for a number of years. In addition, I was pleased to learn that a portion of the earnings were donated to an animal rescue group in NYC (my home). I really wanted to find a company that cared, as I had recently moved and was already concerned about the stress that had caused my kitty. I had to travel for a total of 5 days. I didn't just want somebody to drop by, feed, water and change the litter. I wanted someone who would spend some time hanging out with Floyd (my cat). Long story short, I hired these guys and I was really happy with the result. Karin was the woman I met with directly. She was prompt when picking up my keys and even took about 45 minutes to sit and hang out with Floyd and me. She was very loving with him and he seemed at ease with her. It was apparent to me that she had experience working with cats. When I returned from my trip, I found my home the way I left it, the litter box clean, food and water filled, and a very happy kitty. He was calm and had not destroyed anything in the apartment (he enjoys toilet papering the place if he is displeased). I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone. I will continue to use them whenever I will be away for more than 24hrs. I was pleased with the litter and food services , but what really impressed me, was I could tell that my cat was well cared for and was given attention during my absence. read more

Karin is an outstanding cat caretaker. She has cared for many cats for over the last several years as a wonderful foster for my rescue group, Ready for Rescue. Many of those cats who come out of the shelter require medications, vet visits and there isn't anyone I trust more with the care of our rescues than Karin. She's extremely reliable, proactive (she always gives me updates on how the animals are doing) and willing to go above and beyond for them. Overnights with Jan. I've been living in the city for a few years with my 3 rescue cats. I was nervous at first about leaving them with a stranger. I found GCCC and tested them first with day visits. Each time I returned from my kitties were very happy. As an owner you can tell... I then tested GCCC and Jan with overnight visits. Karen and her team did a great job taking care of our three cats while we were away for a week. The introductory session was friendly and fun and put our minds at ease. One of our cats requires a lot of care (insulin twice daily and subcutaneous fluids every other day) and he was in good health and spirits upon our return. Brian took excellent care of our sick cat while we were away--measuring his blood sugar, administering insulin shots and various other medications, staying extra time to be sure that the cat ate and didn't have a bad reaction to the insulin, and checking in with us several times to discuss his care. Lauren provided two thirty minute visits for $30 each over two days (total $60) and reported back each day w photos and a narrative of the visit via email. Our cat is shy so requires some patience if you want to get her to come out of hiding, but Lauren cat whispered her way into playing with our cat, which we're so grateful for (cats need affection even if they act too cool for school!).
