We had an all-day work event here, so I got to check out their conference rooms, catering, in addition to the museum. To start off, the breakfast and lunch they served us were really nice. A good variety of different items, which included an afternoon cookie and brownie break, and beverages available all day. The room we were in seemed a little more conducive to having a few rows of chair for listening to a speaker or something like that, but we had tables and a computer station set up for presentations, and it felt a little crowded. But, it's still a convenient and unique location close to downtown, and it felt good to not default to a hotel meeting room which is what I was expecting. The museum itself was really cool! I know pretty much nothing about motorcycles or the Harley-Davidson company, but I still was thoroughly entertained and engaged throughout all the different exhibits. It takes probably about an hour to walk through, so it's definitely not an all-day thing, but for being so accessible with ample and free parking, everyone should check this out at least once. I called from chicago to go to the milwaukee rally 2016 if it was going on there on the 5th of sept. and a guy told us that nothing is going on over there, no venues, vendors, nothin but that we could stop by for the museum, i was pissed that it was still going on and we almost missed it because of one jerk in the harley museum. the event did go on and it was in an another burb near the museum . and the employee could of told us or sent us there since its affiliated .it was our first experience going there from chicago, in my bike, and we enjoyed it. but that employee almost made us miss our first experience in milwakee 2016 harley rally. read more

Had a Motor burger while I was up here on business, very good. They have some type of sauce on it, like honey mustard. Fries were ok, prices are a little high but what is not high in a Harley Davidson place. Also has a museum, retail store & parking is easy plus its by the water, good location. If you're into bikes at all, it's a no-brainer. GO. If you're not into bikes but into... industrial design, graphic design, history, fashion, photography, racing, nostalgia, Americana, motor sports, collecting, business, etc... GO. I've been a few times. My dad rides a Harley so I am familiar with the incredible culture. When my graphic design class was looking for a field trip I brought them here. We got a private tour with a focus on design, which was really cool. Everyone loved it, even those who aren't into motorcycles. There really is something for everyone here. read more

So, I have never ridden a motorcylce and probably never will, but I love museums, and this is an amazing one. It is very well organized and there is so much to look at. I learned a lot, both about motorcycles, the local industry, and the ways they fit into society/history. There are a lot of interactive displays that are very well done. I would seriously recommend a visit here to anyone! The $20 admission fee seems like a lot, but the free parking helps to make up for it, and there are $10 Tuesdays in the winter. Now I know nothing about motorcycles (took my boyfriend and the museum blew him away), and I had a lot of fun. It was really awesome to see all the history and some of the more outlandish bikes as well the rest of the classic Harleys. It was great to see things like Serial Number One and I loved seeing the first bikes they ever made, dating back to almost 1900. Very nice museum. read more

Cool place! Loved the architecture of the building, the industrial design, the HD branding, the location, and the bikes. Best part for me was the cool compilation of videos of biker scenes and movies (ex. Easy Rider). Worst part was the price - $16/person to get in. Also enjoyed The Hog sandwich from the cafe. I am not a motorcycle person. In fact, I'm probably just about as far away as you can get from being one. That being said, the Harley-Davidson Museum is a must see if you are in the Milwaukee area. The museum shows you motorcycles from 1906 on up. You get to see how technology and innovation grew and developed in order to make Harley-Davidson what they are today. There are also interactive exhibits which are fun. The only thing that was missing was a video about Harley-Davidson. I appreciate a good quality corporate video from time to time to get me to buy into a place. read more

Incredible place for historic peek into Harley Davidson's past and future. I loved the hands on set, the restoration garage and the amazing God on site. I brought my wife and daughter and they even loved it! $20 for tickets and $46 with the factory tour. If you eat at their restaurant, try the smoked wings and Mac and cheese. Came here for fun (fam was on a quick vacation). And this place was deff worth the money to see. I'm not much of a bike person, but I still found the museum to be super informative and entertaining. I went to this museum not knowing what I was getting myself in to. I'm a rider with no interest in being a driver of a motorcycle. I also couldn't tell you 3 names of the different bikes. Car Night is ending on 9/22 for the yr until next year as all will be putting their cars away for they winter. This wk's turnout was pretty big. A most hilarious entry was a low rider Monte Carlo that drove thru the parking lot exhibiting his hydraulics in an amusing, typical, cartoonish way like out of the movies. He had dice on top of his doorlocks (cute?). When he roared off at the end, he put on another eyepopping display as he put the car thru 10 paces. There were lots of muscle cars to oogle even if I was one of the few women there. The winner was a 1904 red with flames Ford pickup truck with a special award going to a 2 year old wannabe Harley rider with his own (sit in) pushcar. read more

I know nothing about motorcycles. I also have a terrible sense of balance, which is why I stay away from them. But the Harley-Davidson Museum is cool for bikers and non-bikers alike. I took a self-guided tour (you can opt to pay for audio or come during a scheduled hosted tour) and wandered through the two floors of engines, gas tanks, and chrome. What I loved most was reading all the history of how HD really adapted with different service needs (e.g. delivery vehicles, USPS, police bikes) as opposed to just being a luxury hobby. For Milwaukee history nerds like myself, I thought it was especially neat to see all the notes and photos depicting life in Milwaukee in the early 1900s and seeing that evolve with the company. At the end, you can also have a little fun by taking a seat on a variety of motorcycles and snapping some photos. Bonuses: A variety of restaurants on-site, gift shop with LOTS of HD swag, and venues for hosting special events. The only thing that had kept me from visiting previously was debating whether the $20 pricetag was worth it for a non-aficionado. I was able to stretch my visit into about 90 minutes and felt like I learned a lot. All in all, I wouldn't rush back for repeat visits, but I'm glad to have gone and to cross it off my Milwaukee bucket list. read more

The HD Museum is an interesting afternoon adventure. It has something for everyone... interactive displays, exhibits with bikes that parallel different parts of history, starting at the industrial revolution, the evolution of the motorcycle engine (and the sounds they made), so on and so for. I heard more than a few kids (and a handful of adults) go "Whoa!!!" The Museum has a great flow to it. There's something there for everyone, not just the hardcore Harley addict. There's also a neat exhibit that goes over the design and building process of the motorcycles, complete with working robotic assembly arm. Finally, for someone who's never hopped on a bike, at the end, there are 10-12 bikes to hop onto, from different eras. Overall, a fun stop on any weekend in Milwaukee. read more

Absolutely incredible !!!! THIS is a real museum with all the history of this famous motorbikes company, there are restaurant ($$), shops ($$$) and also bikers cave on certain days. We had a super lunch with an Motor Oil beer :) and the burger of the month was a big one ... Excellent place, I'll be back next time I'll be arround. 20$ for the visit but it's a REAL museum with SO MANY motorbikes inside, very impressive.... The visit is on two grounds, floor and 1st but try to have a quick look on the last floor, there is the restauration place... with many bikes and the "Doctors" haha... It's locked and not for visiting but you can see enough to understand their daily work... read more

We were married and had our reception in Rumble at the Harley Davidson Museum on November 10th. Everything about the venue was amazing! From day one, our event coordinator Alex was wonderful. Alex, Elena and the entire staff did a fantastic job to ensure the big day ran flawlessly. The venue itself is beautiful! Rumble has an incredible view with floor to ceiling windows on one end. The museum and entire grounds offer great opportunities for pictures and fun. One of the main reasons we chose the Harley Museum was the food. It did not disappoint. The dinner was delicious. We even had a late-night mac-n-cheese bar that was a huge hit! All of our guests mentioned how great the venue was, and what an amazing choice we had made. They hosted the Women in Travel Summit convention. They threw us a rocking party and gave us free admission into the museum. I didn't even realize Harley's were made in Milwaukee. They have old bikes and the history is pretty cool. You can even sit on a Harley before you leave and get a selfie. I wasn't a Harley girl until I visited the museum and now I understand why they are so cool. read more

My husband and I went here on Sunday November 12th. We only went because Veterans were free (Thank You Harley-Davidson). My husband and I are not bikers and never road one. This museum was awesome. The only reason I did not give this place a higher star would be the cost. It is $20 per person to get in, again we went because if was free. Then we went to the gift shop, again very expensive. They charged $18 for a 2 toddler t-shirt and then at the café they charged $9 for a piece of pumpkin pie. read more

This is a terrific museum, very informative and enjoyable - even if you don't own a Harley. The evolution and development of these powefull "bikes" is well done and there are "lots" of bikes to view over 2 floors with exhibits. $20 bucks per person to enter and it ended up being 2.5 hours well spent. This really is true "Americana." The development of the overhead valve V twin engine was revolutionary. William Harley and the Davidson brothers were true entreprenuers; machinest by trade who were avid riders that ate, drank and slept motorcycles during their lives which undoubtedly explains the unparalled success of the product and company from the early 1900's through the 1940's. Company successes and "warts" are on display and explained in several audio exhibits which only adds to the myth of this iconic motorcycle. Definitey not to be missed when visiting Milwaukee. read more

Ah sigh.... after traveling miles to get here I was sorely disappointed with the staff. Brought my hubbys HOG card and was rudely told I'm not the owner so NO you can't use it. Then a wack on my forearm with a stamp and I was on my way. The museum was very cool. Lots to see and learn about. Next we went to their gift shop one lady named Diana was very helpful, however the cashier was also very crass just unnecessarily rude when I asked a simple question. All in all if you don't look the part (tats n biker gear) you will be treated as an "other" and either looked past and not helped when waiting to ask questions, or they act rude to you. We picked the Harley-Davidson Museum as a wedding venue (6/17/2017) for sentimental reasons and also because it is just a great place to be. My husband and my first dates were at Bike Nights here, we first said "I love you" at Bike Night, and he proposed in December on the museum grounds. We love coming here for new exhibits, eating in Motor Cafe, and events like Bike Nights. It just made sense to pick this as our venue. I'll start with the positive so this review isn't just a bunch of complaining. Our day of coordinator, Tanya, was great. We dropped everything off the night before with her, and she did a perfect job setting up the decorations and making sure everything was gorgeous. Ok.. now on to the issues we had. One of my bridesmaids steak was cooked super rare while everyone else's steak at our head table was medium or more done, so she just wanted it microwaved or something. I'd normally just tell her to suck it up, but there were extra steaks available from guests that didn't show up. I asked the server if she could have a different steak since my husband's was more done so the extras might be cooked more, too. The server said no. They wouldn't give her a different steak and instead had her eat a kid's meal. After guests were leaving our best man said a guest told him that he saw employees eating steak and salmon in a breakroom when those paid meals could have been passed around or given to guests like my bridesmaid. We had at least 6 guest not come, and at $55/plate they could have been served. Servers would move on to other tables before finishing serving the other table, so I saw guests literally asking for their meal because they were skipped. One HUGE problem was that my cake wasn't cut. I was wondering why everyone's pieces were so small until we were packing up and the entire tiered cake minus the slice from the cake cutting ceremony was in the box. I bought that cake to be eaten by guests not to sit in my house just to get tossed out after we can't finish it. The sheet cake was only bought because the main cake served about 50 without the top and the sheet was for about 70 servings. We had 90 guests. I brought this up to the sales manager, Alex, and she said the pieces were standard and that the chef cut the sheet cake first instead of my tiered cake. Pieces were not standard size. My mother said she heard guests saying "they must have run out of cake". Afterwards, I found out some guests didn't even get cake. My mother-in-law didn't even get a piece. That's unacceptable. We had an error on our invoice for the bar being open for 4.5 hours instead of 5, but my husband caught that a week before the wedding. Alex said she fixed that, but bar didn't know that the bar was open until 9:30 instead of 9, so they started to charge our guests. My guests were looking confused, so I had to go to the bar and walk through the schedule with a man with a clipboard explaining why it was supposed to be free to guests. He said the bar never received the updated schedule. We e-mailed back and forth with the sales manager about the problems we had, and all we got were excuses, a sorry, and a "Thank you again for bringing all of these errors to our attention. The only way we can improve is by learning what we did wrong." And excuses were made for the employees that were seen eating the food and the extra meals not being passed out as not a service."I apologize if that is your past experience with banquet serving, but that is not the way any venue I'm aware of runs a banquet. Banquet serving serves each guest 1 salad, 1 entree, and 1 dessert. Again I apologize if you have had a different experience previously but that is not the industry norm" um no. We've been to many weddings including country club weddings where they asked if the extra meals wanted to be used. We paid a 22% service fee and many other fees for garbage service. All that was offered after I asked for a refund on those meals was $55 for my bridesmaids steak. We should not have had to pay such crazy service fees for garbage service. At well over $100/guest, better customer service should be standard. read more

When I first walked in, I drew a deep breath at the price but by the time I left, I felt it was worth it because there was so much to take in. I really enjoyed seeing the evolution of the Harley with the living examples of the bikes over history (including the oldest one known). There are interactive exhibits of how the engine actually works and the different types used over the years. A well documented history of the founding and the evolution of the company fills another exhibit and there was so much to look at and read. It was cool to see one of Elvis' bikes, the bikes in Easy Rider, and one of Evil Knievel's bikes and some memorabilia (although admittedly, the Easy Rider and EK bikes were re-creations). I would have liked the section on women riders to be a little bigger but am glad they included it. There is also an explanatory design lab exhibit. One of the best parts was downstairs where you can sit on all different kinds of motorcycles. Successful marketing because now I want one so badly! I have always appreciated motorcycles but do even more now. Cool museum. read more

While I didn't have time to actually see the inside of the museum I was able to do the steel toe tour of their powertrain factory. For $38 you get a ticket for the steel toe tour and a ticket for the museum. Otherwise it's $16 for just the museum entrance. They do provide a free shuttle from the museum to the factory and the tour guide kept us entertained with videos and points of interest along the 20 min drive there and back. The tour itself was fun and interesting I learned a lot about the engine and how they work. It was cool to see each part separately and also see them get assemble into the powertrain. It is a working factory so of course you can just go running off and start touching everything but our tour guide, John, was excellent. He knew the answer to whatever questions we asked and also threw in some extra tidbits of information. They did have some stations where we can see different stages of machined parts and touch some of them as well. Plus you get a souvenir photo of you and your group and a Harley Davidson steel toe tour pin at the end. the only thing that got to me were the ear piece, so that you can hear what the guide was saying, which was on my ear for about 2 hours so it can get uncomfortable after that long a period, the eyeglasses were a bit big for me and the steel toe shoe cover that you had to slip on over your shoes. All of this is negligible since you can always switch the ear piece to the other ear and if you have your own steel toe shoes or maybe even regular work boots so the cover won't be that annoying, you can wear those. As for the eye protection glasses they were big so that they can accommodate those that wear glasses, such as me, but the nose pieces were too big for me so it was pretty much sitting on the tip of my nose the whole time. But I would definitely do it again. Can't wait to see what the museum is like now (btw, the museum ticket I got with the steel toe tour is good for 1 year from the date of purchase so I'll definitely will be there within that time to check it out). read more

As Harley owners and expatriated cheeseheads, we've been looking forward to return visit for a long time. Kind of a pilgrimage, for us, really. It didn't disappoint! We hadn't expected the seriousness of curation, and the historical focus, which was maybe the most fascinating thing of all. This place is a piece of American industrial history, and will be of interest to even those who aren't riders or fans of the culture. Not to be missed. The Motorbar restaurant was also pretty good, although it would probably be better in the summer when you can sit outside on the river. Forgot how darn cold it is back here! read more
