My car broke down in the way to Portland from Salt lake . We thought we could make it but my spark plug gave out . We were stranded that night , and i called around to see who could fix my car the next morning . Other firms were telling me it would be until the following Monday to get me fixed . Harley swain said they could look at it but made no promises . Well , the next morning they already looked at my car , and diagnosed it before i walked in . They told me they would be willing to fix the car , despite it being a Honda. Got their ex Honda Tech on it right away, and ordered a new part for me . These guys saved my trip , and got me home . I was highly impressed with this small town dealership. I originally spoke with Peyton to consult on my in-laws purchase of a new outback. We had not worked with the Hermiston dealership before and was prepared for the traditional back and fourth process. Peyton was very polite, accommodating, and felt that he genuinely cared about our experience. They were able to reach agreeable terms and their deal went smoothly. Peyton was very honest and quick to have our questions answered and kept is in the loop throughout the entire experience. Peyton was such an easy sales person to work with we decided to purchase a vehicle as well! We weren't in the market for a vehicle at that moment but still ended up driving all the way to Hermiston (about 2500 miles round trip) just to work with them! The General Manager Mike was straight forward and it was a very transparent process. Antonio in the finance department made the paperwork process very smooth. We ended up purchasing a sport Impreza which doesn't come equipped with roof racks. We had racks included in our deal and John in the parts department kept us in the loop as far as back order and shipping time went and was very polite every time I spoke with him (whom I probabilities called once a week or so). This is the best auto dealership I have ever dealt with! So nice, professional, friendly. They always remember our names, able to get in for oil changes with little notice, fair prices and great cars. I would invite them to dinner in our home- that's how great these folks are. I bought a car for first time traded in my vehicle valued at 8000$ they said they gave me six I put 8000cash for down payment on 30000$ car after all said and done my interest rate 27percent my begining balance is 30000$ so where my money and down payment went I don't know but to screw me with outrageous interest rate was a low blow like I said was my first time and they took me to the cleaners they can all eat each other's semen read more

2 weeks after my son purchased a car from them, it had an oil leak and the check engine light went on. I called and spoke to the manager, he had the service department "take a look at it." According to their service department, there was no leak, they just fixed the sensor. The manager said he was sorry but we bought the car as is. I understand that, but a car purchased at a dealership should run without problems for more than 2 weeks. Don't buy from them, they're shady! Worst dealership in Hermiston. read more

My intro to this company was good but then it all changed when I took my 2013 Subaru BRZ in for a valve spring recall in my engine but I was nervous when I got my car back because there have been multiple videos of recall being done and then having the engine Rod knock on them and to my surprise that happened. So I called them and then they told me they cant do anything because they think I messed up the timing on it so they don't if what they did caused it so now they wouldnt compensate me in any way. Everyone should buy a car here! I initially went to get more information on a Subaru that I was keeping an eye on for a little bit with no intentions of buying one that day. I ended up buying a brand new one just moments later. The staff was super genuine and friendly: Gloria, Shawn and Antonio made the buying process so easy, I am overly amazed--speechless. From getting simple information and buying the car, the whole process took two hours. TWO hours. It didn't take all day like it normally does when purchasing a car. Nobody has time for that. Yay! Had the misfortune of experiencing a transmission failure while traveling from PDX to Spokane in my 2015 Forester late in the evening on a recent Friday. I had the disabled car towed to Harley Swain Subaru in Hermiston. I went to the dealership after getting a rental car locally and though the service department wasn't open on weekends, Nathan (?) in the sales department was very helpful. Letting me explain why my car showed up on their lot and assured me that the information would get to the service department Monday morning. Sure enough, Monday morning, Curtis called me to let me know that they looked at the car and it would need a new transmission. He also let me know that Subaru was aware that my model year CVT transmission was problematic and, as a result, they had extended the warranty which covered the cost of the replacement on my car. Curtis and his team had my car completely repaired within 5 working days (over the holidays!). I picked up the car and drove it home to Portland (190 miles) without a hiccup. This is a great dealership and service center. If I lived any closer to Hermiston, I'd take my car there for service in a heartbeat. Thanks guys. read more

Was stuck on I-84 over the holiday weekend with a blown-out clutch. Service department was able to get us in and get the repair done quickly despite the busy schedule. They were really accommodating to the fact that we were from out of town. Sent a driver to the bus depot to pick me up when I came back to retrieve the car. read more

Scary how dishonest a dealership can be. My Honda Odyssey had a check engine light come on, and I asked this dealership to check what the error code was. They told me over the phone that they would 'have to pull the entire engine' to check the spark plugs, which is a completely ABSURD statement. My guess is that they assume that people are suckers and don't know the first thing about vehicles. Word to the wise: if you know very little about cars, DO NOT TRUST THIS DEALERSHIP! They will try to sell you services and repairs that are either absolutely unnecessary or WAY OVERPRICED compared to standard repair costs. 'Pulling the entire engine' to pull a spark plug? I pointed out that there's no way they would need to pull the entire engine for that, but they stood their ground. 'The engine is really compact in that car, so there's no other choice'. What a load of bull. In the end, they checked the error code and pulled the plugs in a few minutes (never apologizing for their ludicrous claims about needing to pull the engine), and then recommended replacement of my piston valves, and quoted me 23 hours of labor for that job. This is RIDICULOUS! I did a simple search on Honda's website (based on Honda Bulletin 13-081, which the dealer actually mentioned in their estimate), and Honda is crystal clear that this repair job should take 8.5 hours. How on earth can the dealership want to charge me almost triple that amount?! We're talking thousands of dollars! Again, they assume that people are idiots, and won't ask any questions or do their own research. So...if you have limitless money and don't mind being ripped off and made a fool of, then this dealership is for you! Otherwise, save your money, and see an honest mechanic. You sure won't find one at Harley Swain. read more

Just plain rude and unprofessional. Our day started off nice with a couple tests drives and the older salesman telling us "don't worry about the price, it's Black Friday, we can make a deal, we want to move cars, blah blah" but when we went to sit down, it started: 1) he gave us attitude and didn't like that we didn't want to use the bank onthego program, we had everything ready to go thru our banker. 2) we're not idiots, I know prices and I know the game and I know this dealership offers low trade-in. so when he laughed in our face and said "you serious?"at the offer we made that was only about $4k less than sticker (should have walked out) I decided we're done. 3) so then after all his rhetoric about wanting to make deals and blah blah he came back suggesting that we make another reasonable offer between wholesale and sticker. Really? That's what you're going with? Ok chuck...so I already decided we weren't going to buy but wanted to see where this went so I offered a thousand more and when he came back he chuckled again and said nope that's not going to work and started packing up papers and said "you have the number if you change your mind". I told him the same and he said, "no im not gonna change my mind." So within a day we have found better deals for the same car and hopefully more professional people. Will never set foot in that place again. read more

My wife and I went to test drive and possibly buy a new Subaru. First, the salesman told me a car they listed as available on their website had been sold before it arrived on their lot, so we test drove a used one from the previous model year. During the test drive the salesman told me all about the car, but was clearly not listening to my questions. After the test drive, I told him we would be happy to wait for them to get one that met our needs, but he insisted the one he was showing us was the only one available in WA, OR, ID, MT and CA. At this point we went to walk out the door, but he grabbed the manager who tried to tell us the same thing. I was also uncomfortable with the run-around he gave us about the car we were interested in trading in. I didn't want to negotiate on it until after we settled on the new car, but he made an offer later, rescinding it while trying to run the numbers on a loan.. I went to this Subaru dealership about purchasing a new Subaru Outback and trading in my 2013 vehicle on the transaction. First, the salesperson didn't know about the vehicle I was looking at. I asked him if it had LED daytime running lights and he said yes it did have them. Upon turning on the parking lights I noticed that it did not have LED running lights. Then he said he was thinking of another vehicle that they were trying sell on the sale lot, Oh yeah right! Secondly, when we started talking about the price they gave me low ball trade-in figure for my 2013 vehicle but didn't lower the MSRP price of the new vehicle. I have never paid MSRP for a new vehicle. They told me that they could sell at that price because they were selling so many. NOT ME. BUYER BEWARE the salespeople at Harley Swain Subaru are slick and slippery. They'll tell you anything, even if it's not true, to get you to buy from them. read more
